Xenoblade chronicles 3 is HERE!!! Xenoblade has some of my favorite combat ever and I wanted to give some gameplay tips and tricks for new players or anyone who wants to be overpowered by chapter 4 like me LOL. This video will cover combat tips, exploration tips, and some team building tips. One important learning outcome for me was to not use Bonus EXP... it just over-levels you for most of the story, and that will make it harder to unlock classes for all your characters as most monsters will not give any of the much needed CP for this... just try to be on level of the monsters in the area, and not be more than 4 or 5 levels higher than them to avoid that issue.

Too late for me. I love exploring in these xenoblade games. I'm level 86 and still on Chapter 4. I used no Bonus EXP either. Saving that for the 90's.

@@asuraofwrath I do insane grinding and exploring. I'll fight the same Unique Monster 5 to 10 times as long as it's still giving me good exp. Plus, the Blue Monsters give huse exp bonuses. Get one of those that's 5 levels higher than you, chain attack and boost the multiplier above 500%. You'll gain levels every two fights.

Thank you so much for breaking down the basics. I love RPGs and XC3 has been on my radar as of late (never played a Xenoblade game...ever!) I've been reading about all of the various battle systems in the game and while I only now feel like I'm starting to understand some of it, I'm not sure if I'd be smart enough to actually play this. It looks really good and I've read that it makes a lot more sense when you actually play it, but it all just seems very overwhelming. This is a great noob's guide though - thank you for sharing this 👋😊

@@SweisSenpai Haha, thanks so much 😊. I'm really tempted to try it, I won't lie. I've heard nothing but praise about the game generally (though I get the impression that the combat system is very divisive...) 🤔. It seems like a very long game, however, I don't have a huge backlog anyway. Visually it looks lovely, and I've heard some of the music from it (which is a big selling point for me with games). Again, it seems really well-done soundtrack wise. I'm trying to wrap my head around the class system, though. Does the game encourage you to play around with classes? Do you get any sort of in-game help in determining who should have what class or would you just go off a character's base attributes? I guess I would worry that I would not be making the most of my character's strengths and end up with characters stuck with the wrong class. Apologies if these are silly questions for you. Thank you so much again for your time. It's really helping me to determine if this game is right for me.

There’s a lot to play around with and u will mostly go by the characters stats but the tutorials are good you’ll have a lot of class variety

I just watched sirlionhart on stream today with a team of soul hackers with abilities that do damage of 1000% when you're incapacitated, and heals all allies when incapacitated. It seemed very crazy.

Thanks so much for this! I came across this when searching for a tutorial as I just started this game last night and the combat system is making my brain feel scrambled. I'm sure it will make more sense once I get used to it, but coming from games like Zelda this is just a whole different world!

Do two stat boosting arts used in a fusion stack in one another?

If they are different effects both arts will be applied in the fusion, so if one halves aggro and the other gives attack you will get both effects if u use fusion. I don’t think using the same two effects will stack though

What's the best set up? 1 tank, 2 healers 3 dps? Or do I need 2 2 and 2?

2 2 2 is the most balanced but it’s whatever u want as long as your team is built good. If the boss does too much damage add an extra healer, if u don’t do enough damage add another attacker. Sometimes u gotta go into the boss to figure out a team strat

Doing side content or exploring will get you overpowered quick, which hurts your CP gain. You need to play in Hard mode if you really want any kind of challenge.

True hopefully the challenge mode helps with the difficulty. Deff the easiest out of the 3 Xenoblades

I bump up difficulty for cp grinds to help mitigate what ur talking about. But that doesn’t help if ur already on max difficulty 😅

I can’t figure out how to beat Zeon in ch 3. I’m playing on Hard and he one-shots my team. Anyone here use a strategy you could share?

I would try different classes on your charavters, maybe add in another healer, go around the map and just do a bunch of quests and gain a new hero or 2. Around chapter 3 I mainly used a break, topple, daze strat

In the early part of the game I found myself using a Healer. Specifically Eunie. The PC is terrible at timing heals and uses them when they're not needed. Save them for when the Boss Uses an powerful art then spam heals. Otherwise, control the tank and use one with Lots of "Evade" arts. Again, wait for the boss to use a damaging art and hit your Evade art.

@@SweisSenpai Thanks for the advice! I went ahead and used only 1 tank and one 1 dps, and the rest were just healers. Got through both this fight and the Consul fight without dying once on Hard. I also made sure my healers were throwing stuff on the ground. I have no idea if evasion stacks, but it seemed to keep me alive! Somehow managed to survive Consul B's heal bind ability by switching to the healers and manually freeing them one by one and ended up finishing the fight with everyone at around 20 hp but survived!

U CAN DO IT, it looks worse than it actually is. Just make sure your tanks are beefy, attackers have good attack stats, and your healers are safe. By all means don’t be afraid to grind or abuse the tips from the video

Currently in a castle, Story is around lvl 35, Its just so easy, maybe been lvl 76 has a factor in it but hey I had the chance to do it so I did

I’m playing the game on easy and I’m 22 hours in and I think I hit the point where I’m gonna quit. I’m rushing through the game because honestly, I wasn’t mentally prepared to bother with this game and spend time with it. I run through every area, do zero side quests, and just go to the story points. I’ve made it this far without having to grind or mess with any stats etc. the mini boss I’m on just whooped my ass and I really don’t feel like leveling or doing other side stuff. I actually wish there was a very easy mode so I could just beat this game already. Love xenogears, x, and chronicles 2. Put 200 hrs into 2, but I just wasn’t wanting to bother anymore and honestly, 3 is my least favorite so far.

I'm having the opposite experience. I couldn't finish 1, 2 was ok, but this one is so much better imo. I'm really excited to see how the story ends

@@DjangoBruh I like everything about 2 more. Story, music, world, characters and setting. I’d give 3 a 7 so far. I think I’m just burned out of these open world type games even though it’s not truly open world. Like I said, I wasn’t mentally there when I started it. Just trying to blast through the game

I played Xenoblade 1 but never beat it cause I had already seen the story on RU-vid and I'm not a big fan of JRPG combat. I'm intentionally avoiding spoilers for this one in hopes that seeing the story will motivate me to finish the game. Probably gonna play on easy too.

I loved all 3. The first games story was great but battle system was a bit annoying. The first dlc wasn't that great imo. I finished it but didn't have the same emotional impact as the main game. On two I loved the dlc. The main game in 2 was great. Loved the story and combat system. I am currently playing 3 ATM and I love it l. Started out slow but the game is picking up. My only problem with 3 was the ui. Too much red and orange. I have glasses and sometimes it gives me headaches. I wish the map wasn't so red and orange too. It's a design choice so I understand. I hope the dlc for 3 is good. I really liked the gathering in xb2 over xb1. Xb3 seems a compromise or meld of 1 and 2. It's ok but I preferred Xb2s gathering nodes

@@SweisSenpai Indepth is right, but unecessary. Confusing combat like this turns a lot of gamers off. No need to make complicated what could be made easy. Skyrim accomplishes the same goal, defeating enemies, but does it very simply. If something HAS to be complex, like flying a commercial airliner for example, I can understand. But fighting enemies in a game doesn't have to be. Not when the same goal can be acheived easier. EXAMPLE: I want ice cream. Tell me which is easier. A: Go outside, walk down to my neighbors house. If he answers, talk to him for a while. Then go to the park and relax. Next, leave the park, go to the store and do your grocery shopping. Leave, come home and put everything away. Go outside and wash your car, then work in the garage a bit. When done, go inside, open the fridge and get the ice cream. B: Go to the freezer and grab the ice cream. ''A'' is the route a JRPG takes.

@@SweisSenpai I do wanna know one thing though. How do you use an art talent? In the training simulator, it said when it glows bright, press 'A'. This has ony workd once in a fight. Every time it glows bright after I perform an attack, I press 'A' and nothing. Is there some mystery to the timing? I don't know, seems the more I dive into this game the more and more it tries to make me not want to.

@@mattfayne9691 when it glows it probably is just charging up a little bit but not fully ready. Each time u do a class role (using a back attack art that does extra damage from behind) stuff like that u will charge it up a little. It glows when it charges up a bit but make sure it’s fully charged and glowing the whole time that means it’s ready to use

The combat system in this game is so stupid. It feels like I'm not even doing anything. I'm so disappointed I bought xenoblade definitive edition and the combat system made me want to cry I was so bummed and then come to find out it's not just the first one they're ALL like that. Nintendo needs to get some better rpg titles, I love the switch itself and I love video games, but I'm not crazy about the Nintendo game library, they need more adult games, they all feel so fucking childish and have horrible combat systems like this or have overhead views of the characters through the entire game or look like something made in the 90s. I don't understand what they're going for with their games. I just need to get a steamdeck, they have games for adults where you actually do more then just press a button once in a while to do a special attack and then just sit there while the computer auto attacks for you while your special attack charges up for you to select again. I keep looking for cool games for switch, I want to love the switch so bad, but they just continue to disappoint me with their library of games, that while being huge, has so few games that even remotely catch my attention. Zelda is like almost the only reason I even have a switch, they have some games I like, but all those games are available on other systems, zelda is the only exclusive I think is fun. The rest just, I hate to say it, but the rest just kinda suck.

I have to disagree Xenoblade combat takes a lot of player control where most people actually find it quite challenging. I say try to go further in the game so u unlock some mechanics. Immensely more deep than any Zelda combat system lol

I'm honestly sad FF 16 combat is so action button Smashy. Plus it's only on PS5. I wish Xenoblade games were released on Xbox but I'm fine with the switch.

I can see where your coming from, I am really struggling with xenoblade 3. The combat just isn't clicking with me. That's why I'm coming to these types of guides. So far I think the problem I have is I'm auto building the character a lot of the time because I feel it takes a lot of effort to learn them all. Another is that I keep changing characters classes when rank 10 to progress another, which is great, but the downside is you get a really weird party setup, and often times missing crucial abilities like break etc. I will continue to figure it out, as I had a similar issue with xenoblade 2. The elemental or thing really confused me, but once figuring it out, oh man what a fun combat system I loved it!

My thoughts exactly. I have 32 hours in this game and a jrpg fan. Too many useless systems like Ether channels, gem crafting, acessories😂 instead of just having traditional equipments made it much complicated without the need to. Combat urgh is freaking slow and not fun. Its like one of those idle games for android. At least in ff12, you can actually buuld your characters and what to use during actual combat Too bad since i have nothint but praises for the game's story and telling. Pure masterclass of xeno. Gameplay was just tailored for Nintendo babies 😅

Game looks trash, you have to stand still to attack? holy fk, nah ima go back to games that the only reason you stand still to attack is because your weapon is slow
