Despite the good story and combat, the most fun part to me were the much improved sidequests and helping out colonies. Seeing two colonies interact with each other in a positive manner was so heartwarming and felt like a better reward than any item/quipment could have been. (Which is why I think making some sidequests a bit easy to miss was a bad call but oh well)
@@cferrado just finished the Dorrick chain last night. Oof. Didn't see that one coming. I really thought that particular rough spot was put behind the party.
I only didn't got the castle affinities (post game quests help), and still need to kill some super bosses. Some of the side quests are really worth the effort for the additional story content.
I have the same problem, I am playing Xenoblade Chronicles 3, Trails to Zero, Diofield Chronicles, Cold Steel III, Braverly Default 2, Tales of Vesperia, Brigandine, Octopath Traveller. It drives me crazy 🤣🤣🤣🤣 too many good games....
I have a PS5 as well (now I would say as a secondary system), for GT7 and PSVR2 and a few other titles, but Nintendo is crazy. They are so far ahead in terms of the real art of video game craftsmanship 💟
Man, I can't wait to play this game. I bought it on release date, but I was still finishing the first game. Right now, I'm currently playing the second game. Maybe next month.
150 hours in, my big points: best JRPG main cast since Persona 4, N is best Xeno villain, amazing voice acting, thoughtful writing and themes, best Xeno gameplay loop, great music (though the area themes were not as boppy), final dungeon and boss kinda meh, cutscenes were incredible. Main takeaway: I LOVED the main characters, all six of them.
@@NuiYabuko not exactly. While Jin still had Malos in the end, N had nothing. Everything he worked for became pointless. Not to mention that because of Z, N was forced into the ultimate no win scenario. Either lose his love forever or destroy his people.
I ultimately just want them to port Xenoblade Chronicles X to the Switch. I've heard some of the excuses: "It was an experimental game." "It's not as story-driven as the other games." etc. I don't care if it's different or not as story-driven. I'm someone who plays these games for the gameplay. XC2 still stands as featuring my favorite battle system in the series. I loved building up a swirling mass of orbs around an enemy and then breaking into a chain attack and obliterating them with a *MASSIVE* amount of damage from an Elemental Burst, all while you hear that voice proclaiming, "Awesome!" I miss that in 3, but regardless, I still want to experience X's gameplay for myself.
I'm getting closer to the finish line, on Ch.6 at 190 hrs. Even at this point, I can definitely say that Xenoblade Chronicles 3 have the best cast of characters in the series yet. It was already a high bar set by the original but they were able to create a very likable cast all around. I'm pleasantly surprised at how well each of the main characters are handled in both the main and side quests. Character development and personality traits reveal themselves throughout the adventure and that has been one of my favorite parts of the game.
Wait ch6 at 190 hours? I beat the story after 120 hours. Have you been doing all those side quests, hero quests and ascension quests before beating the story?
@@seb3082 I'm doing every quests that becomes available. My pace of play is a lot slower than most people. With any open-ended RPGs but specifically the Xenoblade series, I spend a lot of the time just wandering and filling out the whole map. And I avoided using the fast travel for as long as I could. Sometimes I even put the controller/Switch down to listen to the music in an area. When you put all of that into consideration, you can see why my playtime is that high before even finishing the main story.
Yeah, that’s the way this game is clearly meant to be played. I beat the main story right at 200 hours, and then finished the last few hero quests I missed, as well as post-game, and all super-bosses at about 230 hours. Top 5 favorite game of all time for me.
Dropped 100 hours but took a lil break until some more dlc drops to 100% the game. This game truly is beautiful though definitely is a contender for my favorite game of all time if not my favorite 😭 also cant wait for the story dlc to drop! I would be lying if I said I didnt want some fan service with a story with the mcs from all three games😭
Coming up on 220 hours and the game just gets better! If this game is any indication where the future of the series is headed, I'd say they're really settling into a nice groove.
@@NuiYabuko I don't know if it's possible this is the case for you, but I will say that Xenoblade took quite some time to really click with me. I spent a long time not really understanding how to make the game fun, but once I figured out all the systems for combat and character customization it was all good times. Just throwing that out there!
@@EvilMike349 I like every XC game, even XC3 is a good game, it just has glaring issues. I really don't understand where all this praise is coming from, especially after years of people claiming XC2's story was bad.
Thank you for mentioning the incredible roller coaster that is the story. I felt all sorts of emotions, cried a few times, then some humour bits surprised me, it was just so amazing to play and extremely immersive!!! Some bits of story made me even think about my own life and changing some choices I made. And on top of it incredible combat and super fun jrpg. I’m in love and can’t stop playing.
This game blew my mind. The cons, if I can even call them that : - skip hero and ascension quests and you'll basically miss 60% of the game's lore, themes and character's motivations. - Due to the freedom you have in exploring the game, you might find that you have become overleveled for some quests and miss out on some interesting challenges (and I was playing on hard mode). - loved how the story dealt with heavy themes, and the plot is incredibly well written. But sometimes your characters will utter some shonen tropy line ("the power of friendship" etc...) that just feel cheap and out of place. - In my experience, I felt hard mode was the intended difficulty. Normal is the real easy mode; easy mode just breaks the game. - oh... And you'll definetely want to play the first two Xenoblades beforehand. There's so much you'll miss going in blind. On the other hand I'd be curious to see any reviews from newcomers. 200hours in and I'm pondering on an ng+...
This is one game that I cannot seem to stop playing. 200+ hrs and still going strong. This was also the first big title that I played on my new OLED Switch that I got 2 weeks before the game came out. Man, it has been a blast!
Nice review. Finally 😎. This game definitely lived up to the expectations and maybe succeeded them. Played on Hard the whole time, and done pretty much everything (NG+) except craft the strongest gems. My biggest issue with it, gameplay wise is how resistant enemies can be to debuffs. That aside, 3 has become my favorite out the Xeno games currently on the Switch. Looking forward to the DLC
Indicator that it is a good game is you clocked 100+ hrs and still not bored. All 3 Xenoblade Chronicles games was like that! Still my favorites is XC2. 3's battle system is a good update. Hopefully next versions would let us customize stats XD
Best jrpg? It''s not even close. The story was average. The plot twists weren't anything special. The soundtrack was forgettable. The game suffers from the usual cheesy anime tropes. It's a good game but not anything special.
This is definitely one of the best jrpg i played so far. It's on par with p5R in its own way. The world's so alive and experience 7 member party while coming off traditional 4 members team is so refreshing
I’m over 200 plus hours with every colony at 5 stars and have all the bonus perks for doing so and I love the Hero Quests the Best Side Quests in the Series
9 months ago I started my journey, beat X, then beat 1 remastered, moved one to Torna The Golden Country, then beat 2. I'm now 50 hours into 3 and holy crap. These are legendary games, even with their graphical shortcomings (mclassic helps a lot)
I got to a part where you meet this Nopon called Repapa that's trying to complete Dorrick. I completed the quest "A big friendly friend" then he issued 10 phases in which of course the player must collect the necessary materials to complete the guardian mechon. I did some digging and realized once you finish it, you have to fight it as a boss that's like level 70; and once you beat it, you're not necessarily rewarded with anything. Have you completed this quest? Honestly what is the point?
Great review! There are a hundred reviews with that "standard structure" but I much prefer this casual approach from someone I knew LOVES these types of games.
Just started this game and blown away already. On top of that the music is amazing. Can’t wait to get my 200 hours in. If your starting, I recommend play with headphones.
Best action rpg ever? I don’t think it’s even the best one on the Switch let alone ever. Love the enthusiasm and hyperbole but that’s one spicy take lol.
Although I don't agree with everything, mostly the item management being streamlined so much - the equipment ins handled horribly in my opinion, having to search for every piece of equipment again after a class change by scrolling through a list with only the name but not the effect of a few being shown made me spend an exhausting amount of time in the menu - I still agree that this game is phenomenal and it's fighting Xenoblade 1 for the title of my all-time favourite game.
I may pick this up. Was going to get Pokémon Violet but refuse to get scammed and need to vote with my wallet so maybe I will use my money on this instead.
Still playing it way after finishing it. Trying to finish all side quests and raise all colony levels. The amount of side content in this is insane. I found myself asking how certain things weren't dlc just because that's how the industry has been in recent years. This game is an example of devs that can balance gameplay and story.
Same here about 230+ hours still finding side quest after finishing it lol so much content in this game and DLC is coming later on this is definitely my GOTY by far so much fun the story the music the combat everything in this game is amazing.
Just slogged through Xenoblade 2. I was thinking about how much I hated playing through 2. I like 1. But 2 the fights took forever. I hope 3 the fights are not 5 minutes.
I have like 150 hours in the game and I can say that is one of my favortie games of all time, the best Xenoblade of the series and my second favorite game of all time with chances of being number 1 but botw is there, just considering puttin this game above of botw really shocks me beacus it never happened with the other Xenoblades, I just love ths game
Best RPG I've played since FF3 or FF7.... I'm old so.... this game franchise captured my attention starting with definitive edition, on to 2 and then this MASTERPIECE! I couldn't agree more, the best hands down! GOAT? Minus nostalgia, YES
I have 85h in now and I struggled really hard to make miself finish the first 5 chapters. The first 3 times I tried really hard to play it and could not get to chapter 3. Now that I'm 85h in and only at chapter 6 end, I can say that it has redeemed itself but you should not have to wait 50+h for " the best action JRPG" to start being good. The story is not good for the most part of the game, the buildup is really slow and the characters are not really interesting that much. I liked Lanz and Senna's story, the others are fine. Xenoblade needs to stop this crap where for the first 30+hours the game is lame and simple and you need to struggle to get to the good part. XC2 was the same, but at least Rex's story was awesome from start to finish even if the combat is lame for the first 30+h. XC3 is boring af except maybe Joran's story which is over in a flash and the rest of the first 4 chapters are boring af with a couple of exceptions. The game is good an I would reccomend everyone to play it at least once but it has to do some work in order to be "the BEST". I must say: I like the DLCs of XC2 and XC3, they are like whole new different games, and for XC3, to me it looks like this was how the game was suppoed to be instead.
Bought it day 1, firs xenoblade game and really great. Love the visuals, combat, that boss music and hero quests ect The tone of the beginning peaked my interest and never became corny or whatever (seeing clips of x 2 turned me off of series, xenoblade X got ne interested because mechs n looked like ff15) 89 hours in and just finished the "DJ"fight. Love this game Edit: And love the voice acting and accents, quality voices in great scenes
YS series is way better for those that dont want to sit through auto combat system. Xenoblade 3 l is pretty good storywise but the combat is not something many will find appealing. Ys has that fast paced action if you like to stay in control. If your looking for strategy jrpg go with Fire Emblem 3 houses. I have played around 20 hours of Xenoblade 3 and decided im going to give it a rest, this game feels like a chore due to the combat.
Playing after 200 hours really makes you feel like this game was something amazing it was so good and continues to be good i have splatoon 3 and havent even played it yet because xbc3 has occupied my time since its release just so good best characters ever and yes sooooo much fuuuun
It definitely was man what a game finally finished it last week that ending though no spoilers because some players are still playing this so I don't want to ruin it for them but man this is definitely my GOTY the story the music the combat everything in this game is amazing still playing it with post game about 230+ hours in and probably will not stop lol love this game ❤
Masterpiece. Simply masterpiece. I really hope there is an epilogue, I love this game so much, I want to know what's happened after, I want them to meet again.
“Monolith, what do you have to say about Xenoblade 3 that sums up what you have accomplished with it?” *THIS IS THE CULMINATION OF YEARS OF TRAINING!!*
Great game, but a bit disappointed on how full of plot holes the story is. Previous games wouldn't allow this many things without being explained (Lucky Seven, the black fog, Noah and N having the same sword, etc.). And I don't think that having a future DLC is an argument to excuse the lack of explanation. Previous games are good as they are without DLC's, everything is explained within the games and expansions are just a good extra, not something to fill plot holes.
@@Mojo1356 Literally characters give the sword a lot of importance. N and Noah have the same "Sword of Origin". It's clearly a reference to the Monado but it was never explained why it's so important. So yeah, it's a plot hole.
@@Shadow650Nintendero Not to mention, why did Noah get it? I mean, I know why Noah got it, but it just feels so random. At least with Shulk and Rex it made sense, but here it's "You're hero material, so have this amazing sword", which conveniently works on Flame Clocks?
Finally beat it after getting hero and every doing every ascension quest and I can safely say I love it. It's tied as my favorite JRPG on Switch, tied with Xenoblade Chronicles 2. I put 155 hours into this game and man I loved it. I do think I still have 2 as my favorite story and I think 2 still has the best antagonists in the series but 3 is easily my game of the year.
@@NuiYabuko an accurate take based on how I feel about the game as well. Different people’s opinions may vary of course, but what is said should connect well with most.
I hit 200 hours on mine. I did everything I could do and now i'm just waiting on the DLC drops. I love the game. It's by far my favourite in years, but having said that, I wouldn't give it a 10/10. There are some awkward storytelling problems and scenes that are there just to info-drop and teach the player that don't particularly seamlessly fit, and awkward QoL issues that are passable. Not a perfect game. 9/10, definite recommend, definitely something I've been obsessing over to friends. Definitely something I push on everyone who's willing to listen to me.
It's so great to see Nintendo foster Monolith Soft's creativity and talent. Monolith has had such a rough road with publishes in the past, now they get to finally make these amazing games with great support and backing from Nintendo, and it's paid off for both of companies, as well as us who get to enjoy masterpieces like Xenoblade 3.
I love this game. My first playthrough of the main story is an experience I will never forget. This is by far the best story out of the whole Xeno franchise for me. The world, characters, monster designs, and addicting combat really shines from beginning to end. And yes, the music is complete banger, " A step away" track hits so hard, definitely Mitsuda's best. Also the side quests in this game is the best out of any JRPG I played. The characters involvement and surprising lore build is detailed in each side quest. Great video OJ! You hit every point perfectly. Awesome Review 👍🔥
👍 The Best on Switch and the most beautiful, miracle of visual quality on Nintendo Switch Xenoblade Chronicles 3 and excellent camera customization on ZL+Rstick (L2+Ranalog) as all serious games should have
I dont have many time to play . But there are games that i will play fully. The last game was persona 5 . And it took me almost 2 years to complete evrything worth my time. And xenoblade 3 i also will complete. Now im 60+ hours into the game chapter 6. This game is worth to play it.
It's a hybrid of action and mmo style. There are turn based elements involved during the more advanced chain attack portions of the battles also. Saying it's one type of game doesn't really do it justice.
i really liked 2, so pummped for this, grabbed it on sale with dragons dogma lastnight! playing dragons dogma first or i start mixing up storyline and controls between games if i do more then one rpg at a time lol
xenoblade does not seem like an action game to me. its like a turnbased games with cooldowns and positional movement and able to flee any time. sure it is "real time", but there is no dodging, aiming, learning physical attack patterns, etc. i know everyone says its action but i dont see it like at all
Had switch since launch just got the Zelda OLED. Wanted to play this game forever always saw it at the store. Now finding the definitive edition cartridge seems impossible. Won't give up. Keep up the amazing videos bro love the content and honest feedback.
i have only arrived at before keves castle, but i have to say the story sometimes feel too anime, and shonen like lol, i kinda hate it, sometimes the action acene is looking good though
BRO...go get a marseille Mclassic, and then a 4k gamer pro and run them daisy chained. You will be able to play 60 fps 4k. This and other switch games look stellar, even if it is a bit expensive getting those 2
I purchased a gen 1 Nintendo switch when it came out , just because of breath of the wild since I have other consoles and play on pc...unfortunately my switch got stolen but I ended up buying another one just for this game 😍
I was in CEX two days ago and they had around 15 copies of pre owned xenoblade 3 two months after release that is not a positive sign so I'm going to wait until more people have reviewed it
