Why Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition is the BEST Game in the Franchise!

Kind of to be expected, it's made by the creator of Xenogears. Xenoblade is to a large extent a reimagining of Fei's plot: A guy with a mysterious past is introduced to an object of mysterious power. During an invasion from the enemy nation, his love interest is killed which gets him to travel off on his adventure. Along the way, he discovers that higher powers are at work in manipulating the lower wars. It turns out that the main character is actually an incarnation of the messiah; and the main female character is the incarnation of another sacred figure. The "god" of the game, that the messiah/main character is linked to, has a technological origin dating back 10,000 years prior to the game's events. The most powerful nation of the world has a racial segregation issue, and the pure blooded ones will change into weapons when the god of the world activates them; as well, there are forces within the Empire that are experimenting on bringing out that genetic destiny of people prior to the trigger going off - non-pure bloods don't transform. And, of course, the theme of a mixture of human and machine. While the actual settings and details of the stories differ, the barebones plot elements of Xenoblade are mostly all present in Xenogears. Some of the bigger differences are that the little fuzzball characters play a much bigger role in Xenoblade, there is nothing like Frontier Village in any of the other games. Alcamoth is like a mini-Solaris - Solaris takes things a lot further in having multiple levels of society based largely on Aldous Huxley's Brave New World class structure - except class structure was based on blood purity, so the first class, the smallest, lived in Mansions and such, and were the purest. The second, lived in the main metropolis, and the third class were those with very little Solarian blood, and were generally used as slave labour, and even for experimentation in Krelian's laboratory. The Homs vs. Mechon struggle is similar to that of Aveh vs. Kislev, although in Xenoblade this is a much bigger focus than Xenogears - in Xenogears, it becomes apparent that the struggle between Aveh and Kislev are being manipulated in the grand scheme of an even larger war (if you're familiar with Babylon 5, it's kind of on the level of the lower races fighting a war, while being manipulated by the galactic superpowers - the Shadows and Vorlons - itself being a sci-fi reimagining of a three major stories: the Cold War, The Silmarillion, and The War of the Ring) But anyway, this is youtube, my post is already 30 times longer than what anyone reads on this site =P

@@lindenstromberg6859 I didn t read all your message to avoid spoilers (I lost memories of the plot since my first playthrough on the Wii and actually having a blast on the Switch version)but what I can say is that Xenoblade is a reimaginating of the original game in its overall storyline construction indeed. Due to Squarenix owning the Xenogears copyrights, it was no longer possible to do a remake of it. Maybe one day would they buy the license? And make the original Perfect Work be a reality on screen again ?

I agree. I prefer xenoblade 1's writing and world, but it's weird going back to this combat style. I keep trying to do cancel attacks.

I agree. XC2 evolves the combat in a really satisfying way. Still great to revisit the game though 😝

I hated the combat in 2 it felt slow and clunky.

@@wintersong2266 It only feel that way at start though. When you can get actual builds going and have full party members/slots it a pretty fun experience. Especially in Torna.

But moving around is kinda slow in XC2 and in XC1 the are more arts that you can use from the start of the battle. I love both games though.

When I first played it a year or so ago on the Wii. It instantly became my favorite game of all time. 20 years of gaming but it still took the spot. Without a doubt in my mind, my favorite.

I’m not a JRPG guy and I don’t like MOBA either, but still I picked this up on a whim 2 days ago and man I’m already on chapter 6. It’s amazing.

You won't be disapointed? I absolutely LOVE XC2. So far I still like XC2 more but XC1 is growing on me... the story gets amazing half-way through and the worlds are just insane. Some great quality of life improvements too. Both games are 10/10 for me. Never played XCX

I'm about to start Chronicles X on the Wii U. Is it good too? (I got it for 30$) I'm planning to get the 2 other games (Chronicles 1&2) eventually.

Dom Dom it’s not nearly as good as 1 and 2. Don’t let x put you off the rest of the series. The storytelling is much better in the other 2

@@domymbd XCX is great but XB1 is much better. Don't be fooled XCX combat is very satisfying where the monsters damage parts on their bodies makes the game addictive to play. Then the big open world where you can use mechs later on give a great freedom to explore. XCX does have a LOT to offer in weapons, sidequest & the story does get you wanting to hang on to it to find out what more so yeah it's good.

I played the original one on the wii, is it really worth getting this if its not that different from the original?

All 3 amazing games, especially Xenoblade and DQ11S are both masterpieces. Trials of Mana is also great, you will have a great time with all of them. Also very important they are all very easy going, they dont require a lot of searching (where I need to go and what I have to do next etc.), grinding etc.

Bro I’ve played Final Fantasy and Dragon quest ever since I was 10 years old I’m 25 now just started playing Xeno Chronicles 2 last week first ever Xeno game and I’m obsessed with it as soon as I get done with 2 I’m going straight into this.

I'd personally be way more excited for X2.

But i think all the impovements thy made to the series from 2 and Definitive Edition could VASTLY improve X if they ever remaster it. One can only hope. But i think i know why they said it would be expensive now

X needs far more than just QoL improvements, honestly. It's the one that needs a full-on "remake" more than anything. If it only did as much as this game, it'd still have the absolute worst story.

I'd rather they just make a new game. Like most people, I'm on the side of enough no more WiiU ports

@@DDKoD Most people aren't saying that. In fact, I'd say most people are happy they have literally no reason to use their Wii U anymore other than Pikmin.

It still runs fine and is still fun in handheld if you have to play that way. However while it's a small downgrade, it feels like a major one knowing the remastered graphics was a big selling point for the game. I played the original a lot back in the day and it feels way better docked than handheld

Jrpgs is the genre that I live my life for. Play a couple more jrpgs and I guarantee you will be a hardcore jrpg fanboy. The gameplay the story the characters the artwork are what make jrpgs the top-of-the-line genre

I will also say that I have not had any problems with the game in hand held. It still looks good enough for me to enjoy the game which is good enough for me.

That whats great about these games. On paper, they are very similar. But in action they are extremely different games. And amazing in their own ways.

@The Ostrich No Bs it's real. I did this on the Wii ver. I already farmed for the strongest gear on colony 9 like climb, League, jail & Brandle full sets head to legs that have slots. The only gear that I can not get is the Brandle armor with slots. I only have the one with no slots. I farmed 7 full sets for my party & I have top weapons for all characters that would carry through a lot of the games story.

@@neonblackbeast7243 What I did was making sure when a sliver chest or gold chest dropped I would save my game before opening it. That way I can keep trying to get the gears that are better with slots. I already can beat shadless Matrix without any problems. The only thing I can not do yet is the lvl 70 monsters because Monolithsoft knew that if they let monsters in colony 9 lvl 50 to 60 then they are filling in the lvl gap for a player to grind to lvl 70. So that is why you don't see any lvl 50 to 60 monsters in colony 9. They put a gap so no one could get to lvl 70 at the start. I did this same step on XB2 torna DLC. At the start of new game I got to lvl 55 before I boarded the airship.

First XC game for me was 2 and I seriously can’t stand it I’m 40 hours in and only on chapter 4 and I just quit. Almost ruined the series for me until I got XC1 and now I see how it’s a masterpiece

XC2 like XC1 gets better and better as you get into it. So far I still prefer XC2 but to each their own. Give it a shot someday though... its great

That is a Hallmark of a fantastic franchise. Each and every game is phenomenal

The main problem with XC2 is with the main characters. Rex, Pyra, and Mythra are just terrible. That’s why I can’t take XC2’s story too seriously, especially with how it overuses anime tropes to a ridiculous degree.
