Me watching this series. "Episode 30:Oh, Okay Metal face is the big bad guy." "Episode 60:Oh, Okay Egil is the big bad guy." "Episode 83:WHAT THE HELL?!"
Or... Episode 5: "Ok, so Metal Face is the big bad guy" Episode 48: "Ok, so Egil is the big bad guy" Episode 76: "Ok, so the Bionis and Zanza is the Big Bad Guy... and we're still going after the weaker bad guy named Egil?" Episode 83: "ZAANZAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!"
Man, so many reactions everywhere, so many conflicting thoughts on the contents of this video. I don't think I've seen a more entertaining comments section on this channel in a long time. It's wonderful to see on a website where so many comments nowadays are either pointless fighting or not on topic with the video at all. I was admittedly really nervous about my commentary not being good enough for this part and actually attempted the fight a few times until I could get through it without losing my momentum. Hope it turned out well!
You know how sometimes names really suit people, like how people named small sometimes turn out quite petite Amy Winehouse died from substance abuse? Yeah. Dickson probably should have changed his name if he wanted to divert suspicion away from him, if we've learnt anything.
@@EldenRingplayer407 Technically speaking, we see one of Egil's flashbacks in this episode, showing Dickson in a different form. He has the power of a god backing him up (basically Zanza using Monado Enchanct, I guess).
Zanza is the most fabulous butterfly in the world. Also, as a real response to the video, Dickson just became a "Dick" , son. Meyneth just sacrificed herself. Zanza returns. Shulk "dies" So in a nutshell, the story just got its shit flipped, thrown in a fan, and then put into lava.
sonicrules876542 Yeah, they both are fabulous, but Tabuu only got to be fabulous for like 5 seconds until Sonic just came out of nowhere and wrecked him. Plus, Zanza is golden. And a God. And has a lightsaber.
Usually you expect the more organic life who have beating hearts to be the ones on the good Titan, and the ones who are presumed to be simple machines the bad ones because machines generally don't have feelings. But then you get to the Fallen Arm and find the Machina, and find out part of what's happening, and start becoming a bit confused like "Wait... so we're still the good guys, right?" And then this happens and you find out that the people who supposedly have less feelings have as many feelings as you, but are also living on the Titan who has feelings like her people. AND THEN YOU FIND OUT YOUR TITAN IS A SELFISH PRICK
Can we just take a moment to realize that Dunban was fighting THIS, people who have seen the video will know what im talking about, while he was using the Monado. He resisted this, and crushed an ENTIRE ARMY WHILE DOING SO, and did it all with a one armed sword style. Let that soak in.
Yeah I remember the Battle of Sword Valley. Unfortunately for him, not being Zanza's vessel cost him his right arm... and nearly his life while wielding the Monado.
Ice Kin Pyris Blitzkrice Otharon, Juju, Gadolt, Kallian, Sorean, Chief Dunga, Oka, Riki's littlepon, and Linada. THEY WILL ALL BETRAY US!!!!! Except for Gadolt and Sorean because they're dead....
All the way back on Prison Island, Melia voiced reservations on whether Zanza's release was a good idea. "The ancients must have had a reason for sealing him away!" I suspected there was much more to that moment than we knew at the time, but I had no idea it would come to this.
I...I have no words. At all. Zanza IS the Monado? The Monado IS Zanza? Shulk has basically always been dead? DICKSON LIVING UP TO HIS NAME?! GOD VS. GOD?! Nonono. A God in the form of SHULK VS. A God in the form of FIORA. I can't process this much. What could possibly happen next? How could this get better? The plot just did a full 180 and went in a couple of crazy loops. Holy crap. I have no words for what I am feeling right now.
NOT TO MENTION THERE ARE TWO MONADOS. Meyneth's and Zanza's. And the latter has BOTH. Zanza HAS BOTH HIS MONADO AND MEYNETH'S, WHICH ARR UNLOCKED TO THEIR MAX POWER. SHIT'S GOING DOWN.
Egil used Bionis Slash! It's a one hit KO! Bionis fainted! Zanza has run out of usable Pokémon! Zanza paid out $999999999.99 to Egil! Zanza blacked out!
WOW, IT WAS ONLY ONE CUT-SCENE THAT MADE EGIL MY UTTER LEAST FAVORITE ENEMY. TO MY FAVORITE CHARACTER. IT WAS ONE CUT-SCENE THAT MADE ME SWITCH FROM BIONIS SIDE, TO THE MECHONIS SIDE. MAN F*** DICKSON MAN. HE WAS SUCH A BADASS THIS ENTIRE GAME. HE WAS MY FAVORITE CHARACTER BEFORE THAT CUT SCENE. BUT THAT ONE CUT-SCENE CHANGED EVERYTHING?!?!?!??!?!
Ryan Mayer IDK about her pretending to be high entia but to make the fight easy, use Melia. But that scene with Kallian. Oh god. Zanza is Hitler. Lorithia is a bitch. Dickson is well, a dick. Alvis is my favorite character but the reason why is spoilerish
Imagine the 10 people who tried to spoil shulk’s death “Hey, shulk dies” “Pfft. I don’t believe, they would not kill of the main character!” “No, he actual-“ “You’re just a troll, trying to get a reaction.”
i actually just realized did, the monado's are like Soulcalibur and Soul Edge Calibur is the Mechonis monado, while Edge is the Bionis monado Makes sense because SoulCalibur is made by Namco
Well, I did but it still didn't make much sense. The only bits that are similar are that the swords have souls and they are opposed. Everything else is pretty different.
AAAAAGH! Dammit! So close to a peaceful resolution. I was kind of hoping Fiora would take the lead, but somehow, I don't think that's quite right. I'm not even mad about Meyneth having her own "Monado", because now that has me wondering "What exactly IS a Monado now? If the one Shulk was using was Zanza, does that mean there are multiple Monados? Does this mean a Monado is not actually the sword itself as everybody thought? If Meyneth could wield a "Monado", then maybe "Monado" is not a tool or weapon with a particular form; maybe a being's "Monado" is actually the mainfestation of a person's will to bend fate. One other thing I'm now wondering now (which will probably be answered soon): What is Alvis's deal? He could have visions like Shulk could (supposedly), and he could wield the (Zanza) Monado without any noticeable consequence, unlike Reyn or Dunban. From what just happened, it would make sense if Zanza existed within Alvis, except Zanza has shown he exists for himself, willing to eat everybody he can reach (by the way, Melia's gonna be mortified), so it wouldn't make sense for his soul to be split like that - for there to be two Zanzas. Alvis also seemed suspicious of Dickson when they were together, so Alvis probably knew about all this. He didn't intervene which suggests he intends to stop our heroes, but those suspicions make me think he'll ultimately help our heroes. The only thing I'm pretty sure will happen is this: somehow Shulk will find "his Monado", whatever that means.
There's a line in the game that specifically says what a Monado is. For potential spoilers sake, and since I can't remember where the line is, I'll tag it. The Monado is the light within everyone's soul. Everyone has a Monado.
RedSalamander The Monado really is just a kind of God device, there really isn't much explanation on what it is exactly aside from reprenting a person's will to determine fate. Meyneth's will finally shone through in her fight with Zanza.
I do have one question about that meaning though, major spoilers: Why does Alvis say that he is monado and what does it mean. Is it because he's a computer and thus can calculate the future/ has power and over the new world?
Chugga I just wanted to say thank you. Thank you for everything you have done. When you even mentioned playing through Xenoblade Chronicles, I had no idea what the game was and I thought that I would dislike it. But since I have been watching every episode of this game, this has to be one of my favorite games of all time. And it all thanks to you Chuggaaconroy. I want to be an author or video game creator, and games like makes me want to make games as amazing as this one or books that are great. And again thank you Chuggaaconroy. This game is truly an amazing game :). This is one of the reasons why your one of my favorite youtubers to watch because your playthroughs of games make people want to love or play the games themselves. Thank you. This game playthrough isn't even done yet and I already love this game.
Thank you chugga! This game is amazing. I even saw it once at a GameStop, and heard it was nice. But *I didn't pick it up*. I'm regretting it so hard right now.
Rave Elemental I remember being on the fence when Xenoblade came out, but since there was nothing else I was playing at the time I decided to give it a chance (I normally don't like JRPGs) and then I fell in love with it! Then I found out how rare and expensive copies got and... well I'm really glad I got it when I did!
I knew going in that Dickson might have done something ridiculous. However, I had no idea that at the end of this video I would be heartbroken over the fate of Egil, the main antagonist for the majority of the game. Why is this story not required reading (or playing) in high school English class?
Because, sadly, game stories are not considered literature due to the fact that they are games. Games aren't considered art yet so hopefully we'll get there at some point in time.
Telling a story through a game is probably the closest way to experience a story yourself. In a movie or show, you're simply watching something happen. In a game, you get to participate in the story, and that makes it feel more personal. I have never felt more connected with fictional characters than in this game. And games also combine arts from other categories like animation, art style, music, voice acting, and just simply gaming is an art.
I am.... conflicted.. but I like it. this series has gone and struck nerves and touched feelings. Emile, thank you for playing through this game. even if I still have more videos to go, really, thank you. this has been the best LP from the Chuggaaconroy channel that I've ever seen.
Mallchad it's because companies don't try anymore. We can only hope for Nintendo to give us something that isn't another Mario game (fingers crossed for LoZ: Breath of the Wild)
I love how this was foreshadowed as far back as Episode 6, when Shulk says it's like there are two voices in his head, one saying to move on, and the other calling more and more loudly for revenge. Right after getting the Monado, no less.
I just played past this part. I legitimately cried when everything settled down. The entire time since Dickson's betrayal, my hands were shaking and I almost felt like I was defusing a bomb. No other game has managed to do that to me, and I think this game is slowly becoming my favorite game of all time as well. It's not decided, really, but I definitely acknowledge this game as an amazing experience now. The thing that really got to me was... (Minor spoiler alert, this will be seen soon and doesn't pertain to any big reveals) when I looked at the affinity chart afterwards. Just seeing most of the High Entia on the affinity chart wiped out, familiar people who the party went out of their way to help, even some of the children, really broke me. I know that's a weird thing to bring that feeling among all of the other events, but I just couldn't handle that so many people that I knew and helped in the game died so quickly and so unexpectedly. It was bad enough to see Alcamoth wiped out like it was, but when I saw every familiar person who died there... it was heartbreaking, to say the least. Despite all of the sadness these few moments have caused, I am very glad I got this game and love it to death. P.S. I knew that Dickson was a bad guy and up to something with Zanza. Didn't want to believe it, but I guess I'm pretty good at predicting plots. Good thing that it didn't ruin the impact of the story for me.
The story of Egil is genuinely tragic. He was so close to a good ending at last after years of rage and torment over the betrayal of him and his people from the cursed blade, but one mere shot of betrayal was all it took to crush all of that. The end to his torment was so close, yet just out of reach.
This episode was amazing, freaking...so good, all the plot twists and everything, easily one of my favorite moments in a game ever. Although i will say, was dissapointed he didn't put a memorial for Shulk at the end. Maybe next episode. Also, WE GOT AN EPISODE ON THURSDAY WHAT? Yeeeeeeeeees.
^ This. Chuggaa played this game before, he knew she'd be back and still played along like she'd be dead for the rest of the unforseeable future. He should've done the same for Shulk. But anyway, he might do it next part, given next part...That thing with the High Entia will be explained...and another plot twist happens.
I was dumb and spoiled that Dickson was going to betray everyone long before I got to this part, but... THIS. THIS!? I wasn't expecting him to go that far... I wasn't expecting him to FREAKING SHULK AND KILLING HIM. And we were *THIS CLOSE* to a truce with Egil. And to make matters worse, SHULK WAS NEVER ALIVE TO BEGIN WITH. HE DIED AT OSE TOWER AS A KID. That's just... what? That cutscene with Zanza fighting Fiora/Meyneth was pretty cool. But... Meyneth... sacrificing herself for Shulk's friends... and Egil having to watch her die a second time... that's awful. I actually feel really sorry for Egil. I suppose it's the cutscene after the battle with Yaldabaoth that made him one of my favorite characters. And now, it looks like he, too, won't be able to hang onto life much longer... at least he was finally able to smile again.
I agree that Egil has had it rough. Everything that happened to him corrupted him and just as he agrees to stop attacking the Bionis, Zanza forces him to continue. I also feel like killing Dickson and Zanza now. They crushed everyone's dreams, made Fiora and Meyneth cry over Shulk's second death, and now we have to work without either Monados. Why did Meyneth have to sacrifice herself and give Zanza her Monado!? And the irony of her last words to Egil...
Evan Johns truth be told, you will find out why she gave up her monado the next episode, someone's either dead, going to die, or in a coma, or those 3 are for 3 different people >:D riddles riddles to find out the spoilers, and here's a reference to an earlier video, shulk has his own monado, it's mentioned a few times already, the reason fiora was alive this entire time was because meyneth's monado powered fiora, so what shalt happen next? :P find out, next time on Xenoblade Chronicles
Entrusting the world to a corpse without a Monado seems a bit risky in my opinion. Especially since Zanza now has 2 Monados, and can wipe out the entire world with telethia... So unless Shulk gets a laser blade, he can't resist Zanza that well... Then again, Dunban can just give him another Machina blade right?
There's many things that are okay. This is not okay. They just killed off Shulk-- oh wait, Shulk was already dead! And it turns out that Dickson was a disciple of Zanza. I love the story and I think that this is a great story, but... they just killed off Shulk! Who kills off the main character?! I guess his name is DICKson for a reason...
Third time watching this series Fifth time watching this episode because 1. I love how they made it work and 2. Even knowing all of this, it's still a lot to take in.
I honestly cannot STAND Zanza!!!! He's arrogant, cruel, and heartless. If Monolith were trying to make it so he's hated, then they did an excellent job. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad he's the real villain and not Egil, but I hate Zanza as a being.
help i think a part of me just died too many plot twists im so glad i didnt look up spoilers but the episode endedlike 20 minutes ago and ive legit been sitting here staring at the screen trying to figure out how to survive until the next episode help
Summary of what just happened: Alright Final boss time *YOU WIN!* You: Aright! JK you were the bad guy all along and you didn't even know. You: Dammit! And now your God is dead! You: Crap! And now only Evil God is left with your God's power. You: ...*leave's the room*
My same reaction. The first time I got to Alcamoth, and noticed how all the quests were timed made me realize something bad was going to happen later in the story. I expected the city to get blown up, not this lol
"This world no longer has a need for gods" that was sick and in my opinion has as much of an attachment to me as the blade quote in the first fight with egil
30:00... Meyneth: "This is what I wish. This world belongs to you all. Create a world with no need for gods." is something that stood out to me. I haven't seen past this point, but I like this quote.
In all seriousness, this is the moment I've been waiting for forever. Ever since the Let's Play began. Many of my friends have since begun watching this Let's Play, and seeing their freakouts to this very moment is an incredible moment. I absolutely love Zanza, and think he acts as a great villain. Someone who is bigger and badder than Egil? Who would have thought. This adventure isn't over yet, and I cannot wait for everyone to experience this amazing game for what it has lying ahead.
Love this scene and fight so freaking much. If Xenoblade Chronicles X can even achieve HALF of what the story in this game did... well... then I'll be one happy gamer.
labrynianrebel Easier said than done dude hopefully it'll be um what's the word……."streamlined" so going through it will be easy enough so you can play it multiple times to give it a better review overall
TheKpa11 Yeah easier said than done, but if I say it enough then I'll be surprised and enjoy Xenoblade Chronicles X more... yeah it's not working HYPE HYPE HYPE
Well, seeing as how Takahashi has said that he considers Xenoblade to be one of his worst stories, I think it's safe to say that XCX is gonna blow this one out of the water.
I find it amusing how a lot of people anticipated Mumkhar when I didn't, yet so many people seemed to not expect this when I saw almost all of this coming back when Egil said "we fight to free the world from the tyranny of the Bionis." Part of that might have also been because of the plot elements this game shares with Xenogears which I played first, but I still knew that Zanza would be the true final boss. That being said, the presentation was amazing, and this is my 2nd favorite scene in the game right behind the events at Prison Island. That's the thing about Xenoblade: when you really look at it, it has a LOT of jRPG cliches, but the overall presentation is beyond superb.
This is actually my favorite scene, and I actually have to rewatch it This is my third time seeing this playthrough, but my fifth time watching this episode because I'm still trying to understand everything said in this.
Oh my god Egil he actually turned into one of my favorite characters He was killing the Homs to weaken Zanza and all Egil wanted was revenge because of what Zanza did to his people
28:38 I think Zanza was one of the biggest winners in DE due to the more expressive characters, and I want to look at this entire scene, or this shot in particular to show why. Zanza looks goofy in this shot. He just does. Compare this scene/shot in DE, an Zanza looks much more menacing due to his much better expressions that really show his arrogance. Just felt like pointing this out.
This is the moment, this is the day.... I expected this episode to cut off earlier. I guess that'd be too cruel though. But whoo, more to talk about! Warning! This comment will contain potential spoilers for this episode. Watch first, then, read. "Then I will stop your blade. And I will. Over and over again, until... We understand each other." This scene... This is where Xenoblade had become my favorite video game. It just shows how much Shulk has changed all this time. His motive isn't revenge anymore. It isn't curiosity or anything like that either. Egil has a beautiful smile. Chugga was right. He and Shulk would've made great friends. And here's a little food for thought: In the beginning, after Fiora's death, Shulk talked about one voice in his head telling him to listen to Dunban, but another was screaming for revenge. When Zanza was coaxing Shulk to kill Egil, could Zanza have also been that voice back then? The low chants when Meyneth is about to fight Zanza are so... I can't place my finger on it. I want to say it's amazing, but that doesn't seem right. Eerie, probably. The way the Monado looks now, it's so different than when Shulk had wielded it. In a good way. It looks kinda like an elegant weapon of destruction (Well, it is, but you get what I mean?) to me. Meyneth's Monado looks cool as well. Its presence always wowed me. "If you cannot understand this, than you have no right to call yourself a god!" "And who decides that? A god." Another one of my long list of favorite Xenoblade quotes. These two... They contrast so much, in so many ways. Conflict is only inevitable, I suppose. And last but not least, one of the scenes at the end when Prison Island sinks into Eryth Sea. The High Entias' screams sound so painful... But this has only been the beginning, and a lot more surprises have yet to come.
And the Foils between Shulk and Fiora! (Foil meaning a similar character) Both of them have been housing one of the two god's inside of them, Shulk was born in Bionis, Fiora was reborn in Mechonis, (and while it hasn't technically been said yet) both of them have been dead this entire time...
I've been waiting sooo long for Chugga to get to this point of the story. And now it's finally here! I can't wait for the next episode and for Chugga to talk about a certain thing I've been wanting him to talk about for quite some time now (since we both the same favorite character. *hint* *hint*)
9:30 - Good, I can feel your anger. I am defenseless. Take your weapon. Strike me down with all of your hatred and your journey towards the dark side will be complete!
Now that sufficient time has passed for me to be coherent about the events of this video, I feel like I should write another comment which is better than ":O" (spoilers for the events of this video, why are you reading comments before watching?) Firstly, I am in no way okay with what happened to Shulk in this video. At all. Secondly, I had guessed that Shulk was Zanza or was possessed by Zanza so I'm glad I got that right. Thirdly, although Zanza's resemblance to Shulk is beyond creepy I am in love with the design of his body, so gold and pretty. And Meyneth is beautiful too. Fourthly, I found this really cool when putting together all of the information this episode gave. When Shulk was going to kill Egil and he heard Alvis say "You must find your Monado" he was being controlled, but that phrase caused him to go through his memories and make his own decision. Considering that Zanza's soul is the Monado, Alvis could be saying "You must find your own soul" which is what he did, because he made his own decision without being controlled even though strictly speaking he shouldn't have a soul considering he died as a child. I just thought that was really cool, and another example of one throwaway line of dialogue which means so much more once you learn more. Finally, I NEED TO SEE THE NEXT EPISODE NOW. YOU'RE KILLING ME (but I understand that you're still actually finishing the series, so this isn't a complaint: just a reaction)
TehCoopaTroopa But Zanza was sealed, if Egil had left well enough alone it would have been up to Dick-son to set things in motion, to which he would most likely get his ass kicked.
Theoretically, this can be described mainly Egil's fault. Why? Remember who released Zanza? It was Shulk. So why not blame Shulk? Shulk merely released Zanza due to the cause of Egil commanding the mechon to attack Bionis. A few episodes before the visit to Prison Island, Sorean Antiqua read an inscription in the audience chamber that said, "When the ether cries, the Bionis awakes." In conclusion, due to Fiora's death by Metal Face, and Egil's idea to implant homs into mechon, it's Egil's fault. Or is it Zanza, due to causing the attack on Bionis which led to Egil's state of mind in Valak Mountain to Agniritha. Anyway, the actual conclusion is: Zanza allowed the chain of events to happen. Therefore, some can say it is his fault. However, one can argue that Egil was greatly affected by Zanza's attack and the reason that this whole story. It was Zanza Attack > Egil became consumed with vengance > Egil is mad that he lost the battle of Sword Valley > Implanted Muhmkar into Metal Face > Metal Face killed Fiora > Shulk went to Prison Island and Released Zanza
Not exactly. Egil simply didn't know the details, but he know that Zanza will comeback in any point of time. In fact core part of Zanza plan would work in any circumstances, because Shoulk will have Monado in any case. Dickson will only need find reason to release Zanza from prison Island, but because he have his tentacles in High Entia capital and no one in fact know what going one, he could find something as excuse anyway. We could argue that Egil attack force his plan to start prematurely, and so Dickson lost full control over all details, and some parts fall apart. In fact without Egil attack they didn't need eliminate him now, and simply could do preemptive attack on Mechonis.
+chuggaaconroy -Must contain fanboyness...- Hah! I guess that is true, but I personally think the last few bits are the most shocking! -I CAN'T HOLD IT BACK ANYMORE- Oh my god you replied to my comment I could not be more happy at this moment! This day has been brought to a 5 out of 5 (two hour delay), to a 0 (crappy school day), to a 5 (your video), to a 10!
This is what makes the story of this game so great. To think that this all started with a revenge story fighting against Mechon... it grows into something so much bigger and so much more. The best part is that the scale of the story will continue to grow right up to its end. Seriously. Even bigger than this.
0:17 Spin to win! 2:55 More like he's scared. 3:48 He has Meta Knight's sword, the Galaxia. This is the Galaxia's power! ... 6:18 Well that's a vision-causing move if I ever seen one. 6:39 Could just be a sideways 8 damage. 6:55 Expected more spinningness. 9:36 I didn't know Emperor Palpatine was here. 10:08 "For their pain that he caused." 10:18 So many voices! Which one to listen to? 11:05 Must be comfy up there. 12:00 "TSK! My intimidation didn't scare him." 12:38 Why are we in this boxed canyon? ... Something like that. 13:02 So this is the same universe as TLoZ The Wind Waker. 13:07 New Hyrule lies beyond it of course. 14:02 Arglas? 14:50 So many new-but-not-new characters. 15:38 Awww. Egil is good. 16:10 Oh no. 16:13 OH NO. 16:30 First to break the silence. Riki. 16:33 I knew there was something up with Dickson! 16:48 Nice catch. 17:00 Where did he keep that gun? 17:15 Wait? Is he one of those Giants-thing? He got smaller... somehow. 17:40 I'm seeing it. But I'm not sure if I believe what is going on. 17:44 AAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!! 18:36 Shulk? Another Shulk? 18:42 Does he even have clothes on? 18:54 Oh hello, Monado... 19:02 He has wings now... 19:33 Ohhhh. These things aren't just coincidences afterall. 19:53 I just noticed that the two people Dunban felt close to during The Battle of Sword Valley are both traitors. Man I feel sorry for him. 20:02 Excuse me? 20:25 WHAT!??!?! Everything I know is just falling apart. 20:55 So the appearance based off of Shulk or Zanza/the Monado? Who's really the blonde hair kid everyone loves? 21:12 Well at least he is answering questions unlike many other of the Faces. Man I miss the Faces a lot. Can we go back to where it was just them? 21:37 So pretty much the Monado? 21:45 What an horrible person. 21:55 Should have mind blast. 23:05 The Bionis look so withered and evil now. 23:55 WHAT THE!?!?!? Okay. That is a huge stepup from the simplistic design of the Monado before, but now it is just.... something else. Too overdesigned and something to match that of a "Final weapon of the fantasy RPG" type of deal. Also, I heard that Xenoblade Chronicles is more of a fantasy RPG compared to Xenoblade Chronicles X, but everything that is going on is just too much fantasy. 24:25 Unfair that you are attacking the replica up close. Unfair. 24:38 So are they sent flying now? 25:42 The word Monado has lost all meaning to me now. Is it just considered a Titan's/God's sword? Also, I was wondering if there was an opposite of the (Bionis) Monado. I just assumed it was that giant sword valley. 26:30 So are the war blades just gone? 26:45 I wonder if you could have checked the blades' name and stats. 27:08 Wasn't Eater one of the Arts that were optional? I wonder if he would have used it if you didn't pick it up. 27:54 Wait! Who is getting the vision here? Zanza/Monado is telling Fiora/Meyneth that something is coming? Well I guess he is very cocky. 28:01 I wonder if you could have won this unwinnable battle. 28:43 We finally get to see Meyneth. 30:10 Sad that the meeting was short lived. 30:35 Oh come on! Why do you need two Monados!!?!?!?! 31:19 I would just like to say that the music choices during this episode has been disturbingly great. It matches and feels "off" at the same time. It gives a conflicting emotion which is I'm assuming what they want you to feel. I'm really feeling it. 31:20 I knew that Prison Island was more important. 31:34 Oh no. More nightmare fuel. 33:05 Please. 33:30 Please still be there Meyneth. 33:40 A still image end slate. It's been awhile since one of those. Also, I'm assuming we are done with the Bionis.
Don't watch spoilers, it's not worth it! don't worry there's only like 17 more episodes in this Let's Play I reckon. Emile can probably and definitely should if possible end it on Episode 100. We know that all the "postgame" content will be bonus episodes and he'll just plow through the storyline before reloading an old save to show all of the content for levels 80 and up.
@30:45 YO ZANZA!! I'VE GOT SOMETHING THAT WILL TOTALLY MESS UP YOUR VISION OF THE FUTURE!!! (fixes Dunban's arm) Dunban: I can use my right arm again!! Zanza: WTF!! (Blows up) Fiora: (picks up Mayneth's Monado) That was easier than I thought. (Turns to Dickson) I predict you're going to self destruct now. Dickson: WTF!! (blows up as well) Dunban: Looks like my arm was 'Born in a world of strife, against the odds, and chose to fight!' (everyone sweatdrops) LOLZ!!
Only positive thing I can say about Zanza... His Monado is so BADASS. P.S. This episode might as well been alternatively named "F**k Shulk and Fiora". And the next episode might as well be named "F**k Melia... again... Why her?😓"
I have to say I THOUGHT EGIL WAS THE FINAL BOSS i kinda knew what would happen when egil told the story about the origin of zanza BUT HOLY SQUARE TACHE i didnt expect this i have to say chuggaa YOU ARE A GOD WHEN IT COMES TO VIDEO GAME SELECTION
... This episode is really to powerful on an emotional level... The reality itself pretty much flipped upside down... I don't think I would have been able to put the game down until I advanced enough to see at least a bit more if I was playing it myself... Seriously, if I didn't have some sort of psychological dam, I think I would have cried at least a little. I mean, my eyes are already kind of blurry from the tears that were forming. This episode is _that_ strong.
15:37 in my opinion, is one of the greatest moments in this game. Think to yourselves, when was the last time he truly smiled? Throughout the the game and even before that, he yearned for revenge, and his desire would not be quenched until he sees Bionis fall. It's with this smile you realize that he has returned to himself, and found true peace through Shulk's actions and words.
DARLIN YOU GIVE HOMS A BAD NAME! ...i was going to use spoilers name but i think it would be better to wait untill AFTER the episode where spoilers happens
This is probably the best plot twist I have ever seen in a game ever! I expected NONE of what just happened. This game has one of the best stories of any RPG I've ever heard. I kinda regret watching this rather than getting the 3DS version of the game to play it myself, but it's too late for that now. I hope Xenoblade Chronicles 2 can live up to this! After watching this series, I have a new game on the Switch to look forward to!
Ah, so happy to finally reach this crazy, crazy scene. I just love how crazy it is. And guess what kids? The feels train isn't coming to a station for a little while longer. I have to admit though, this scene is one where the voice acting kinda got to me in a few places. Melia's "What made you decide to use Shulk..." line always sounded something from Mystery Date or something and Vanea's "Brother NUUUUUUUU" always sounded corny to me. But! Once again Adam Howden does a fantastic job. And man, that moment when Meyneth comes out and quotes Egil and he looks up at her like "You really do love me!" breaks my heart. It's so nice that Egil actually comes to be redeemed in a lot of ways. I also really like the music "Bionis Awakening" so have a listen to that sometime because I think it's easily overlooked. it doesn't overdo it, and the ending moments of it with the sustain into an almost broken-record repeating of that high note creates a huge, unique intensity.
Among the many emotions I got from watching this scene the first time way back when, I always felt the part with Zanza and the Bionis ready to execute your party (to pipe organ music nonetheless) was what defined this scene and the rest of the game. I don't think there has been any other scene for me in any game or other media that depicts the UTTER despair and hopeless odds the main protagonists are up against so well. Typically, it tends to be some vast army or imposing figure used to get this point across. But in this scene, LITERALLY the world itself is trying to kill the heroes in a swift and ruthless manner, the very world they have spent all game trying to save. This is also magnified by the brief introduction we get of Zanza in this scene. Everything about his facial expressions and dialogue conveys the utter lack of empathy he possesses. He doesn't even begin to consider the emotional turmoil all the characters are experiencing throughout this scene. He's ready to go straight for the win he had planned out for so long, not even giving them any time to process what the hell is going. By the end of this scene, when he returns to Prison Island, he already declares himself the winner of a game almost everybody in the world had no idea they were playing. I really felt the desperation the heroes' had to be experiencing at this point. Facing a foe of this level and who is so ruthless made it a constant fight for survival (at least for a while). Not even giving them a chance to rest and process the emotions they must be experiencing.
I gotta say that seeing this turn of events, along with everything else that has happened, really makes me wish I would have played this myself. This LP is still making me love this game, making me realize how much better it is than what I thought, but it must have been a phenomenal experience to see all of this happen on your own first playthrough. I am still going to get it on 3DS when it comes out so hopefully that still provides a new-enough experience. I can see why people just went crazy about this game.
OK, actual question SPOILERS FOR THIS EPISODE: How does shooting Shulk in the back cause Zanza to be freed? And how can Zanza survive now without a body?
I think Dickson shot something either special or powerful enough to weaken Shulk. Weaken him just enough for the Monado to take control of him completely. Not sure if I'm right, but that's the best thing I got. As for your second question, I think it's simply because the Monado was finally at full strength.
LOLypop1224 I'm guessing that around the time that Shulk stopped seeing visions is when Zanza finally regained his strength after Prison Island. He no longer requires a vessel to survive, and killing Shulk was the method in which Zanza gained complete control and manifested.
A common theme in religion and the occult; are that spiritual beings take physical vessels in order to act through them and conserve their strength. they are capable of existing in their own physical form, but the one of another is simply more convenient to live in. As for why the shot let him be released, it was being implied Shulk was capable of resisting Zanza. and well...cant really resist after being shot through the back can ya?
Strength of Will. Zanza tried since the start of the Game to control Shulk. The most noticeable is Prison Island. Remember how you hear Zanza speakign to Shulk telling him "Now you feel it! Swing the blade to your heart's content!" My personal theory is that the Monado absorbs ether. As Shulk killed more and more people, he restored Zanza's strength and power, but Shulk was able to fight it off until he got shot, when he was already tired and weak from battle. It weakened him enough for Zanza to take over and leave the body.
At 11:52, you see something really cool. If you look at Egil's face, you see that he slowly realizes that Shulk effectively just offered to stay in that room for the rest of his life, waiting for Egil to swing, and blocking the shot when he does. And that is one of the things I find incredibly interesting is that Shulk is dead serious.
"dead" serious. Careful how you choose your words there. ALSO, DON'T MIND ME, EXTREMELY LATE BECAUSE THIS IS MY THIRD TIME WATCHING THIS SERIES AND THIS IS THE ONLY TIME I ACTUALLY TOOK THE CARE TO LOOK THROUGH COMMENTS.
6:10 The awesome thing is, if you hack the camera and wait out the timer, the dev team actually made the Mechonis strike down the Bionis when Bionis Slash X goes off. There’s no cutscene though. Everyone just gets hit by an invisible sword and dies. I’ve always wondered if you could block it with a level 10 Monado Shield.
How were you able to have a vision as Fiora, when Shulk just DIED, and the Monado (which lets you have visions) was returned to the person you were FIGHTING???
This...just...wow. I'm just blown away by the sheer plot twist that has occured. I knew Dickson was up to no good, but I'd never imagine this. The story never ceases to amaze me, and all the props in the world to the creators who came up with this storyline. ALL THE PROPS IN THE WORLD. Also I have a question, if anyone knows, please do not give details, since I want to see it for myself, but it is regarding Alvis. Are his true motives gonna be revealed in a plot twist we'd never expect? One of the shifty character's motives have been revealed, it's only natural for the other one to follow given the nature of this game. Please, no spoilers, thanks.
Well, let's just say you have no idea who Alvis is, and you won't figure it out yourself in a million years. I won't spoil his affiliations, but it's gonna be one heck of a twist.
I am trying to estimate when Alvis' true motives will be revealed, but it might be 84 or 85 depending on the way Chugga plans on splitting up the cutscenes. Let's just say Alvis is....... a mysterious and complex character and leave it at that until the final episode.
