Shulk's battle screams no longer sound full of anger. Since his quest is over, he's a lot more collected in battle and ir shows in his yelling. Cool detail.
@@darthdistortion1934 true, in fairness those worlds only share the connection with Zanza, how the world is like that and Alvis, all of the conditions and links are now gone, so they're now separated. But there's the shulk and fiora in the DLC of Xenoblade chronicles 2. So no clue now.
A Telethia flew into the rift the Fog King created... the Fog King sounds a lot like the "Black Tar" in XCX's battle theme, and there's a Telethia that appears in X that is acknowledged as something not native to Mira and came from, "a world filled with ocean". Hmmm....
@@apollyonnoctis1291 So, in theory, the three worlds from DE, XC2 and XCX will combine? That would be bonkers. There's a Telethia in XCX iirc but the story in that game is in another planet, so I don't know. The Fog King is a mystery for me but I wouldn't be surprised if XC3 is related to some of these rifts.
A little late here but I’m pretty sure the fog king’s whole body correlated to the Infernal Guldo from XC2 (the corrupted body of Galea) so that tie in somehow too
I, as a newcomer to Xenoblade and this being my first game, I have to say that I loved Future Connected, happy they gave Tyrea character development as I saw potential on her in that one quest in the main game's late game, would've loved to have her as a playable character, but oh well...
Her side quest is actually one of the very few if not the only one with unique interaction and affinity stuff, something very common in XC2, so maybe that side quest was tested in the original game and later greatly expanded in the sequel for the blades.
It’s pretty wholesome to see all npc to celebrate when they come back specially to see Bana and even more if you finished his side quest in the main game and FC.
POOR MELIA! I know it was stupid to expect some romantic thing to happen between Shulk and Melia, but I'd rather Shulk end up with her rather than Fiora.
I’m beginning to think I’m the only one who notices this, but it wouldn’t be out of the realm of possibilities for Shulk to end up with both Fiora and Melia
Might not entirely be over. We never learned the full cause of the Rifts, all the protagonists could do was guess and the Quiet Moment just before the final boss has Melia express concern that even should the Fog King be defeated, this might only be the beginning (or something to that effect, I dont remember the exact words). Basically, I think Futures Connected was foreshadowing that if we get a Xenoblade Chronicles 3 there is a good chance that we will be going hoping between worlds, including those of XB1 and XB2.
Well, Melia was worried. Despite Shulk telling her 'this world is safe...finally' she's thinking about the origin of the Fog King. She has grown a lot in that year, crowned as Empress at the end. I wouldn't be surprised if in XC3 the rifts are better explained.
Actually it wasn’t Shulk that fixed Fiora There’s a deleted scene where I’m not sure if they ever added it to the addition but they found a machine that would basically rewrite the missing parts of her body from her DNA and data she had to sleep for a year to fix her body is some kind of remaking pod
@@starvoltnexus3139 This is so odd, like, Shulk can "recreate" the whole world since he gets godly powers (That he loses by the end) but he can't fix Dunban's arm nor revert Fiora back to normal? wtf?
I thought Zanza somehow survived and was returning to create his new world.Because of his theme playing during this cutscene and when you were in Alchomoth.
Hmm... The Fog King's model... Is the Infernal Guldo's... While it COULD be reusing assets, that's... A VERY specific model to handpick for usage... Something's amiss here...
Yeah, I don’t think it’s a coincidence... They could have used ANY model, but instead, from a different game entirely? Kinda suspicious if you ask me, considering that they remastered all the models in Definitive Edition anyway. And, don’t tell me that a model of a bunch of clumped up colors can take up too much space in a game’s files.
yeah... i wouldn't be surprised if Takanashi is gonna finish what he started with Xenogears and Xenosaga and this turns out to be a Gnosis or at least the spiritual successor of the concept. The man's been screwed over by Square and Bamco and Nintendo KNOWS how good a writer and dev he is (they bought monolift soft after all) and XB2 could be considered a rather loose retelling of Xenogears so I can see the Fog King being whatever winds up being the XB equal of a Gnosis. I doubt that the used the Infernal Guldo's model out of laziness or anything like that. could be foreshadowing of what's to come for the series, specifically bringing in sort of Xenosaga elements. The man's been stymied enough by corporate idiocy regarding the Xeno Series before Xenoblade 1, he deserves to at least FINALLY finish what he started with Xenogears and Xenosaga!
@Jeff It's somehow logic how the both worls connect with each other ( if they are doing it ). So after Shulk wanted to create a new universe without a god...alvis/ontos decided to bring all the living creatures and parts of the bionis ton"new alrest". Since Klaus died ( if he did ), the universe of Rex "lives" without a god... The Aegis'are at the end super computers ( I think )...so Alvis just took the IP adress of Klaus' universe and brought the data ( Bionis , Shulk etc. ) to Alrest, if this works... So a Xenoblade 3 could take place in a "new Alrest" with Rex, Shulk and the other people
Mark my Words: *XC3 is gonna be a prequel to the entire franchise* Just think about it! Are they just gonna continue in the XC1 universe? Or the second? And probaly ruin them? ORRRR, are they going to give us a prequel and go more into detail on this "Saviorite Rebels" that were mentioned in XC2? And the ongoing war at that time. More of Klaus and Meyneth! Explore the land of Morytha before it was destroyed by war and Klaus! I'm predicting that XC3 will be the story of the events leading to Klaus' actions.. And a reveal of a 3RD alternate reality of when Klaus was STOPPED! What if there was a 3rd universe? WHAT IF Klaus made 3? The 3rd one being an exact copy of the original. The ONLY difference was, Klaus disappeared from THAT universe, and was in the other 2? An alternate reality where KLAUS DID NOT DESTROY EVERYTHING! But instead, sent himself and Meyneth to the other 2! And bcuz Klaus FUCKED with the universe in the 3rd one, PURPLE ALIENS GOT MAD AND CAME TO WIPE OUT HUMANITY AND DESTROYED EARTH. The beginning of XENOBLADE X! And XC3 CONNECTING XCX TO THE MAIN FRANCHISE! I remember in the XCX opening cutscene mentioning an invasion they saw coming and prepared colony ships ready to leave Earth. It was bcuz of Klaus' experiments! The "Saviorite Rebels trying to stop him, know the consequences! He tampered with that Meta Universe Manifold thing (Disappeared along with Meyneth into the other 2 universes) and the Aliens didn't appreiciate that and came to wipe out humanity and destroy the planet. XC3 ends where XCX begins! That'd mean XCX happened *A long time ago in a Universe far, far away* ITS PERFECT!! Note: I haven't played the XCX. I only saw the beginning cutscene. Which is why I made this theory. And pls don't spoil. Just tell me if the aliens had other reasons or whatever. And don't say why. I'm waiting for X to come to NS But this is ALL just a theory. A GAME Theory
@@cqllel5186 the aliens had other reasons and that wouldnt make sense since xb2 earth was destroyed and became alrest . In xcx the earth is in the state similar to before klaus' experiment so that theory makes no sense.
If they do, I'm hoping it's the same art style for all characters, I really didn't like XC2's approach of basically being a manga artist compilation, it looked incredibly offputting.
I just finished this today but....what was the fog king and the rift? It wasnt explained nor explored at all. Why did said fog affect and transform normal monsters into fog creatures? Do you guys think that this whole thing will somehow be the focus of the new xenoblade chronicles?
There are theory’s that the fog king is basically a Gnosis from Xenosaga. Gnosis are intangible beings like the fog king and they come in all different shapes and sizes. The fog affect the fog king did to the other monsters is similar to a process called gnosisfication where you turn into a gnosis.
@Is really toasty here I really doubt that Guldo was Galea as for some as important as her to Klaus they wouldn’t really unceremoniously kill her other half off if she did. I’m pretty sure they’re just reusing models.
@@N120Xeno nope. The infernal guldo was Galea. When the gang finishes it off the cutscene shows that it leaves behind an ID card. Galea's ID card to be exact. You can even see her face. So either its her, or it ate her
@@shadowdragun again I’m pretty sure that’s just reusing assets because as someone as important as Galea I don’t think they would unceremoniously kill her other half off (if she did have another half) as a throw away boss. Also why would she be in Morytha when we last saw her at the 1st low orbit space station. To me it just makes no sense.
@@N120Xeno eho knows. Maybe she was thrown down there with the rest of the humans that got turned into guldos. And again, it did frop her ID card. How do you think it could have gotten it if it wasnt her? Besides, if we're throwing parallels here the time Rex's froup fight infernal gukdo should be around the same time Zanza kills meyneth in Xenoblade 1. And since they are both happening at the same time...would make sense. She just wasnt as lucky as in the first game. Her soul was turned into a goddess. Her body into a monster. Its dramatic irony really
Consider this. In the trailer for Xenoblade Chronicles 3, the party looks like Fog Beast to everyone. So what does the Fog King look like underneath all that miasma? Perhaps something like a particularly powerful Ouroboros?
So, don't say if this guy is explained during the story of this expansion... because I just so happened to see this before getting the game... however, I have a theory that this guy will be important in a future game in the series... not sure if anyone else agrees, but that's what I think.
is it bad that when i played this I never actually realized that it was Beyond the Sky in the background. Don't get me wrong when I heard it at the end of the actual game I cried like a baby, but for FC I never processed that it was the same song. I guess it being acoustic and no lyrics through me off. But now that I know that it is the same song I am realizing that this is truly one of the greatest songs i have ever heard in a video game. So beautiful!
It's possible that when the worlds was beginning to separate there was a rift in the two causing Guldo to come through with the connection of the rift causing a respawn point for him.
Shulk is cool and all but what can he do once Rex starts spamming Double Spinning Edge with a maxed out Mythra? He'll just take the punishment and die!
They mention Fog beasts in one of the affinity scenes in Future Redeemed saying that they're coming from the black fog indicating signs of a strained world. A also says that they later became Alpha's servants after he took over. I feel like the Fog King wasn't supposed to be a major enemy in the grand scheme of things. Feels more like it was a strong variant and due to their limited knowledge on the rift and everything they assumed it was the cause of it all. Back when Future Connected came out they teased it would give details for the future of Xenoblade. The rifts and fog beasts could have been first cracks in the XC1 world as it began it's attempts to merge with XC2 world.
If they come from the black fog, and the black fog is the first sign of a potential annihilation event, and an annihilation event is the result from the two different matters of both worlds not mixing together well, and the fog beasts tend to look like regular monsters, it seems to me that fog beasts are just regular monsters or any beings for that matter that has had very long exposure to the black fog, and are thus infected by it as if it's a disease. They often look like normal monsters, but only seem to appear around black fog, so I think that makes sense.
It’s basically a projection of an infernal guldo like the one from the Xenoblade 2 that you have to fight in Morytha. The fog rifts are basically a result of the two worlds (Shulk’s world and Rex’s world) intersecting with each other. This intersection/merger of both worlds is what leads to the discovery of the annihilation events revealed in X3 and the reason why Origin was created to allow people to survive the major annihilation events in the merger. The latest Xenoblade 3 artbook revealed this info about the fog king being a guldo
More like the initial points of contact between the dimensions. Alpha was likely involved in sending stuff through, though. Remember, once he left Bionis, he reverted to a much more robotic personality and his conscience was buried.
After finishing this, I have to say I was disappointed. I love the material between Melia and Tyrea, and the cutscenes and music were gorgeous, but the story left SO much to be desired. The gameplay was still solid, but no skill trees/links or affinity made things way more frustrating than it should’ve been. The final boss was a complete joke, even compared to Zanza, and the primary antagonists are never really explained (with one being concluded in a side quest, of all things). This just really felt rushed, and it’s incredibly underwhelming, especially considering they did this same thing much better with Torna.
Torna got more time and funding than this. I think it's meant to hint at a sequel. The final boss didnt much act like a final boss but more or less like a minion. I wouldnt be surprised if the next game had the main characters fight a mob of them at once.
Well that is actually due to a lot of work that was done on Torna even while making 2, also they worked on it for 8 months after completion of 2. Also an interesting tidbit for you. They said they have been working on a new game while they worked on the definitive edition. So Future Connected was mostly something made to finish up Melia's story while keeping the world going for possible linking to the other games. So I am super excited to see what they have been working on now.
Okay I know at this point, most of us have played the game,(Don't read this if you haven't), but honestly, definitive edition main game with the improvements that it has is fantastic, and while it doesn't fix all the issues, the issues that it does fix are great and honestly, this version of the game is the best one to date because of it, but future connected, it subjective to say the least, on one hand it great to see an area that was cut from the original game get put into full effect big time, back in the game like this, and the plotline for future connected is very interesting, but 1. Some storyline stuff in future connected feels short, like there an story with an interesting premise, but it feels not executed properly, like Gal'gar dude, shows up for 3 or 4 cutscenes(it one of these numbers sorry I'm not exact because I don't remember the actual count right now) and then never shows up again, especially since it felt like he had potential, and all the issues with the gran Dell people and the high entia guards also feels like it goes by and gets resolved too quickly without build up, and that can be most of the story of future connected summed up honestly, 2. The gameplay, the changes that it made did initially made the game more challenging at the start, but fall flat on it face with the main campaign with all the unique monsters all over the place, not to mention that the balance of having all the ponpectors was clearly overlooked as having all of them makes their damage output break the game, even the hardest fights in future connected don't stand a chance against them, and battles that are supposed to be hard becomes way too easy because of it, and that leads to the final reason number 3. It great to see cut content for sure, but it definitely wasn't meant for an epilogue game/story as everything feels way too short, and getting everything is not really hard when the area itself is one of the shortest areas period despite the scope and size, it not bad at all, but it not meant for an epilogue game on it own merits that for sure, now if you managed to read the entire comment up to this point, you may think I don't like or hate future connected, and no I don't hate it, I think future connected is good, but that really about it, I know because of everything that happening right now might be the reason why future connected is what it is, but they still choose to released it to us regardless, so I'm not talking and playing what could of been, I'm talking and playing future connected as it is that being sold to all of us, and while it is good, it definitely feels like missed potential, I wasn't expecting a full game to be fair, but yeah it could of been better, future connected is worth one playtrough and that pretty much it, the main game of Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition is worth way more than Future Connected, again it good it ain't bad, but it not great either
@@Implosion-Gaming nope if you're comparing it to the main game, but it does make sense to a degree, like the og post said some thing's are resolved to quickly and not shown the full context, finishing gael ger story in side story also is a iffy choice, heck the fog king stuff there wasn't really much explanation to it.
The reused tracks used in the wrong places like Zanza the Divine and Engage the Enemy really made it feel unpolished. I still like it, but I feel it should have been released later as DLC so it could be more polished.
I personally did not like the use of Music in this Last Boss at all :/ It’s so weird to hear the Main Theme in this Fight because it doesn’t fit the Atmosphere at all
The fact they used Zanza the Divine for the first phase is the textbook definition of strange reuse of music. It’s like if One Winged Angel played at the end of FFVIIR: Intermission or Unwavering Belief playing at the end of The Kaito Files.
And yeah, hearing the main theme in the post-fight cutscene is so weird feeling. Like you said, it doesn’t fit the atmosphere of the final boss at all. Engage the Enemy felt weird too since it’s reserved for tragic moments in the story, but here it’s used for a HUGE WIN for the gang. It would have been better if they reused Counterattack instead, even if it’s from a different game.
I don't know if anyone's clicked yet... BUT THE FOG KING IS A FUCKING GULDO. Look at it's animations and gait closely. It's identical to one of the giant malformed Guldos like Relic-Holder Tyrannor or the Infernal Guldo at the end of Chapter 8. When it uses Mist Charge, its the same animation that it uses for Elemental Copy in Xenoblade 2. And look at how it's chest flashes when it uses Internal Burst. Its the same animation for Elemental Bomb. This brings in so many new questions with no answer. How did Guldos get here in the first place? What's with the black and red fog covering them? Where does this sit in the timeline of Xenoblade 2? Will we see Rex and the others again, potentially in a continuation/unification story for the two Xenoblade games? (X doesn't count, it's almost certainly non-canon). The list goes on. When these questions will be answered, no-one knows. But Monolith won't leave this story unfinished.
X is balling. They got the Telethia from the rift. Tainted look and function like fog beasts. AKA, normal wildlife possessed by a blast mist with glowing fiery eyes. Different universe, but connected world.
@@lewisspring35 Xenoblade 2 DLC and Smash interactions are not canon. But the Telethia in XCX is canonically from XC1, and Future Connected is likely how and when it goes over to Mira. It also explains why it feeds on Tainted/Fogbeasts and ignores humans. Having a Telethia randomly feed on enemies that act and look EXACTLY like Fog Beasts is likely a clear indication that there is a connection. While I don't see a direct crossover coming, I absolutely expect the events of all three games to influence each other like Xenoblade 1 and 2. Remember Fog King is a Guldo from Xenoblade 2 and they were subtle about that.
Probably cause being missing for days if not weeks for what was supposed to be a half a day trip was probably distressing, you know, considering they are a couple. Like the "do you know how worried i was" kinda mad.
Zanza the Divine plays for phase one in general, but the second phase has a unique theme. Why they picked Zanza the Divine for phase one, I will never know. But holy shit it is the poster child of weird choices of music in games.
It’s highly suspected to be an Infernal Guldo from Xenoblade Chronicles 2, but still, whatever the hell the thing was is still very much unknown, and just the topic itself can still very well continue to be speculated upon.
What is with Melia showing more skin in Future Connected than in the main game? Even for an imperial princess, her dress seems very immodest and contrary to her formal image.
Wii is the original, Wii U is available in the e shop, 3DS is an import with a few features that is only exclusive & Switch is a HD remaster with exclusive contents with this epilogue being one of them.
You should have used the Union Strike when your Party Gauge is full as it would inflicted alot of damage against the Fog King. Also, you could have raised the Level of each party member to at least Level 80 before fighting the Fog King as it would make the battle against it easier. The Fog King's Level is 78, so the higher the party's average Level, the better chance you would defeat it.
Shulk is so weak man. If that was Rex he'll just keep spamming rolling smash and double spinning edge and then he goes Aegis third form and whoop the boss' ass some more.
It's actually a Guldo from Xenoblade Chronicles 2. I seriously wish they went into more detail about WHY a Guldo found its way to Shulk's universe, though...
@@dogze6744 no no no no no. this is only in the definitive edition RIGHT? i have played through the game 7 total times. i swear if i somehow missed this.
nimrod films I mean... yeah, it’s only in the Definitive Edition. How can you miss it? It’s literally labeled as “Extra Story” at the bottom of the screen? You know, where all the other buttons are?
Future Connected had a terrible dub, just like 2 did (mostly, lots of standouts in that game), so I'm a little concerned for 3. Coleman just didn't try in the slightest to sound like her younger self, which is obviously understandable, but that's more due to the fact that she was horribly directed. Shulk and Riki's children are bad, too. If Nintendo of Europe gets to continue translating Monolith Soft productions going forward, I hope they can find people who care more about the job and of course provide them with their needs.
I honestly agree. While I do believe Coleman had some really good line deliveries here, she didn’t sound much like Melia at all. Although the voices for 3 sound pretty good so far from the trailers (at least, in my opinion)
I had a lot of fun exploring the Shoulder and reclaiming the capital for the High Entea, but the ending was pretty bad. No explanation on what caused the Rift, Gal'gar dying off screen, no hint for XC 3, Fiora barely in it. You stop one Rift, but without knowing what caused it (other than Shulk saying it's cause this new world is still in it's infancy), there's no reason why more Rifts won't open in the future in the world of XC1. Melia even says the Rift gave her a foreboding feeling for the future of their world. Oh yeah, and the resolution of the game in handheld mode looked awful most of the time, just like in Torna the final battle was hard to see at times. I don't get why they felt the need to have TWELVE nopons following you around at all times, knowing full well they have a hard time getting the Switch to perform well enough to avoid drops in frames and resolution during hectic fights. It shows the dev team isn't learning from their mistakes and they just assume fans will put up with their unoptimized crap.
The final boss is a Guldo from Xenoblade Chronicles 2. Y’know, The brings that originate from humans underneath the cloud sea? From the looks of it, while this is a prequel... This might be a hint to the events of Xenoblade Chronicles 3 whenever it comes out.
