It has been a great pleasure of following this interesting mystery journey since Episode 1 and 2. My friend got me involve with the series after 2 came out. I never played the second game but I down loaded the cut scenes on the web for both games and I enjoyed the story. But I gotta say, both Japanese and English versions had a great cast for the story. I'm honored to treasure this. In the end, the original Zohar brought back planet Earth and Kos-Mos can rest in peace.
Yes, that is true. I believe Jin admits he was never able to connect with her because he himself felt some guilt about failing to avenge both his grandfather and parents so we can safely guess he never took a more direct role in Shion's life beside nagging her a bit about honoring her parents, from what I saw Jin was way more traditionally raised than most people from the Xenosaga universe, as his swordsmanship and atire can tell.
I (and most of us) NEED a sequel !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! MAKE IT NOWWWWWWW !!!!!!!!!!!! / one of the most complex & epic storyline I've ever played, I really respect the writer, a sci-fi Tolkien !!
and as her realization that she was responsible for the appearance of the gnosis triggered the catastrophic appearance of abel's ark, I'd say it's safe to assume that her delayed catharsis was very plot relevant. as to how this justifies her bitchiness, it's easier to blame her brother for not showing up sooner than it is to admit how helpless she was. people go to graves to remember and grieve. shion does neither of these.
You know....when it's all said and done, this game really makes you think. Whether it's a prequel to Xenogears or not is not an issue. The value and content in the Xeno series (Xenosaga and Xenogears) really makes you think! Amazing Job Namco-Bandai and Squaresoft (respectively, of course! lol)!
true. the only justification I can think of that is remotely plot-relevant is that her bitchiness is just a defense mechanism to avoid all that repressed baggage. seeing as how NOT repressing those memories might have meant her realizing much sooner that she summoned the gnosis, I'd imagine she needed to have a reason to repress those memories in the first place to hide from the audience the little fact that her parents violent death triggered such an event.
Final fantasy 10's ending made me sad. I actually had tears with this one, I'll admit it. I love this game. I love these characters. I wish to see more of them. But sadly, I don't think I will..such a good game to...what a shame
A lot of you are saying Saga and Gears aren't linked, but they 100% are. Namco announced that back before Saga 1 came out. They also stated they would make 5-6 Sagas, making Gears the 7th and final part of the whole story. The links so far are that Nephilim is Elly's great ancestor from gears. Abel is Fei's great ancestor. and chaos is obviously Krellians great ancestor. Shion is Citan's great ancestor.
I havent had the time to play the Xenosaga 1,2,and 3 but damn Jin he was so tight when i did play the game but everyone u never know i know Xenogears and Xenosaga are made by Namco and Square but they are probably all friends and i think they wont worry about the diffrent companies when it comes to bringing the sagas together so if they do i see both companys coming together when it comes to bridgeing 4 with Xenogears and with chapter 6 so have a little faith.
and while most of the main characters have repressed issues as you pointed out before, none of them have Jin nagging them about it. yes, Margulis pursues Jin aggressively, Albedo torments Jr. and MOMO, and Voyager torments Ziggy, but these are all antagonistic roles. you expect these characters to torment them. Jin may have took her in after their parents died, but I'm guessing she largely raised herself as her achievements seem to indicate. She learned at a young age to be self-reliant.
Lol. I remember thinking in the first game that Allen was gonna be killed off at some point. I was trying to predict when they were gonna kill him off. He didn't do much and was just kinda there the whole time. And whadda ya know. He finally gets shion in the end. Good for you allen.
I enjoyed the Xenosaga series of games. I reached the ending of all 3 games as well as the ending for Xenogears. I was hoping for a better ending for Kos-Mos as she is my favorite character and I would have loved to have more games with the characters but I don't think Monolith will change its plans.
Hm... If that planet that KOS-MOS drifted to was the planet Xenogears takes place on, then it would appear to be only coincidence as, far as I can tell, KOS-MOS has no referrence character or anything to tie her involvement to the Xenogears game. So, I think as far as KOS-MOS is concerned, that was the end. I could be missing a tie in, it's been some years since I played Xenogears, but *shrug*. As to Shion and the rest? Maybe that's leading up to the opening cinematic for Xenogears?
OMG! Jr.'s dog Alby and the bunny are still alive!!!!!!!!!!! If a 4th game ever exists, i might buy it but it won't be the same without chaos, Jin, or Kos-Mos.
Sucks that Jin and KOS-MOS were killed, and chaos was left MIA at the end. But I guess at least it's a happy, meaningful, heart-felt, philosophical ending.
it will be cool if in space kos-mos was absorb by a dimensional vortex and ended in endless frontier again and had new adventures whit haken, aledi(dont remember hes name well) and company
@LukeShetler you're far more right than me... I just tried to combine the relevance of xenosaga and xenogears story and I was trying to make sense ot it, but really it does not working... krelian is not a bad person actually, the real enemy are miang, deus, merkava and all those terrestrial angel..
the start of gears shows a ship, attacked by gnosis and then crashes onto the planet. and the most important person survives. the birth mother of all human beings. who is nephilim i believe. just an entity really. the gnosis attack that ship because she is there as well as the zohar if im not mistaken on my gears knowledge. the big question in gears...
@LukeShetler and about abel and nephilim warped into lost jerusalem using zohar,,, I don't know if they arrived or not, but I just try to make sense... since the only one arrived to earth was miang.. (the nude girl), then where did abel and sophia came from? I bet they used the zohar, right?
if I recall correctly, I remember there was a scene in the very end when kos mos hears chaos voice saying something about sleep until the universe needs them again. but why it doesn't appear on this video?
You're joking, right? Back when Xenosaga was first in production it was stated by Namco AND Square that Xenosaga was the prequel to Xenogears. Originally, back when Xenosaga was penned for 6 episodes instead of 3, the 6th was to be a remake of Xenogears. As well; Episode III features a hidden battle when the Weltall and Id.
actually, Xenosaga and Xenogears aren't linked. Those are from 2 differents saga. Xenogears is the fifth episode of the japanese series Perfect Word (or world i don't remember) and concerns only the planet we see in xenogears. Xenosaga is a new project the developer of Xenogears created, since it's not from the same company they can't link the two games and xenosaga is more a spiritual prequel to Xenogears inspired from the game than a real prequel
Old comment but, since you mentioned Jin that's another point I always hated Shion about. She may have been a kid but hating your own brother for years because he wasn't able to rescue their parents, even though he managed to rescue her in time, is a extremely idiotic thing. And it's not like she hasn't had enough time to think about it. The guy basically honors the memory of their parents while Shion herself doesn't even wants to go to their tombstones,
Not possible. Shion & co. have no idea where the planet is located on the star chart; that info was lost long ago... And plus I'm sure they have very limited supplies as it is... So it's really not known what will happen to them.
kudos. good points. i guess she should lighten up a bit o.O dont forget jins failed romance with pellegri which may well have been the spark that begot the rivalry between jin and margulis. i think they try to justify her behavior by saying shes stubborn and headstrong which arguably can be a source of strength and determination for some people, though as you indirectly pointed out, can make them seem snobbish and less popular.
i just played trough the game and the ending is so sad, i cried through the whole thing and just when i thought itsfinished there is the scene where KOS-MOS says oyasuminasai and i started crying again ;_; thou i really wonder who kos-mos could be in xenogears, jin is pretty obvious x)
It's also probably due to the fact that Square Enix owns the rights to "Xenogears" which is why no official connection can be made by Namco/Monolith Soft (even if the two games were created by the same guy). I don't know what article you're quoting from though since Xenosaga was started after the creator left Square. Suffice to say, maybe there is, maybe there isn't. We'll have to wait for "Xenosaga IV to VI" to find out :P At least that's how it stands now.

why is virgil's name in the credits didn't he die in the first game? and does cannon live? I didn't finish the 2nd one so they still live if we want them to? even though they died

Well that how the game stop. Namco don't do more may be just like Ariade00 say, the game about fighting with Aliens, any when they can come back to earth they fighting for what when Shion was show how she thinking about live and human. So that it: The saga stop. they can come to earth and-if Shion can pick up K.O.M.O.S that should be wonderful or they can be out of food.
Krellian AKA Chaos decides to finish what Nephilim started and truly destroy the universe. why? that's what 4 and 5 have to fill in. odds are the story will continue on with a new cast with ties to the old one.oh and in gears to saga relation. in gears there is this round globe TV thing that has all of the Testaments in extremly old age form on it. why do they exist still if they were all defeated?
