Grahns Maskintjänst cutting Hemp with a Claas Xerion 4200. The front attachment is a combination of a Kemper 460 Plus header, mounted on a Wittrock Hempcut cutting Unit. The latter is basically a modified feed/cutting unit from a Claas Jaguar forage harvester, where the main drive has been changed and the knife drum has been replaced with a single knife unit. This allows for cutting lenghts of between 30-60cm.

Is the hemp hard to cut and does it dull the cutting discs more so than corn?

I don’t know for a fact that it increases the wear compared to corn. But conscidering how tough the stalks are, and the noise emitted from just cutting them off, I would be surprised if it wouldn’t.

Our corn head has a sickle, the planter has discs. They get razor sharp rolling through the soil.

From what I was told, the swaths will be tedded/spread out, then merged once again and baled.

@@tobiastho9639 From what I heard the fibres are goong to be turned into insulation (some new factory nearby is supposed to manufacture this). The rest were supposed to be turned into bedding for animals unless I misunderstood.

Es handelt sich um Industriehanf, dessen Fasern zur Herstellung von Isolierungen verwendet werden. Ich denke, dass der Rest als Einstreu für Tiere verwendet werden würde, bin mir aber nicht sicher.
