Hi, just a comment... if you go internal mode with traktor you can have full post fader fx. It depends only if the mixer has fully midi capabilities on all control knobs and buttons :D, so it can be mapped. Nice video, very complete explanation. Congrats!!!!!
Wzup Ground Beat, Thanks for checking out the video. I no longer have the PMX-10 but I am working on the review of the PMX-20 and I will try to make some changes. I mainly focused on out of the box setup but I will definitely test it out on the PMX-20 and let you know because they are very similar (with the exception of a few additional features). Thanks again and I will follow up soon.
Wzup Ground Beat, Huge shoutout to you for bringing up this topic... I would like to provide an update on the post-fader effect in Traktor on the PMX-10. This will be kind of a long explanation so bear with me 😊…as this relates to the PMX-20 and the PMX-10. The PMX-20 has 3 modes: -Mixer Mode (with USB support): Works as a standard mixer but if you activate the USB button it will switch to the sound card. It does control the software but the signal path still works like a standard mixer. The Post-fader effect will work but ONLY if you lower the volume in the software (with the mouse/keyboard). -DVS/Hybrid: DVS support is exclusive to channel 1 and 2; channels 3 and 4 are midi only and will not support audio output. Everything works similarly to the mixer mode which is identical to the PMX-10. -Full Midi: This mode converts the mixer to a full midi controller so the post-fader effect will work (but no DVS support and PMX-10 has what it calls "controller mode" which may be similar) How this relates to the PMX-10 is as follows: The PMX-10 supports standard mixer mode and DVS mode but functionally remains as a standalone mixer. I can confirm that when I lowered the fader, the post-fader effects did not work but if manually adjusted within the software it should be functional but the process feels “disconnected” when DJing. Unfortunately, I cannot confirm that the "controller mode" only, works on the PMX-10 but at the cost of DVS support, it's a missed opportunity. You are absolutely right 😊. It is possible to achieve a post-fader effect but the cost of manually adjusting the volume on-screen or losing DVS support may not be worth it. As a budget mixer, I can understand the signal chain is not as complex as other mixers to save on cost, but this feature/functionality IMHO should be included to be competitive. If you can find a workaround or have suggestions to streamline this process I will be happy to test, because I will have the PMX-20 for a while. I definitely want to share the most accurate information on the channel to help fellow DJs, and your thoughts and input are greatly appreciated. Thanks again.
@@XFaderz Hi, very complete explanation!!! Then, for post fader fx, the only solution is to use it in midi controller mode and an external dvs interface and then should work. The only mixer that i know that can do this is the voxoa m70 (Omnitronic cmx 2000) with the internal soundcard (i mean a mixer from the cheap ones :D ). I just wanted the same functionality but with pads. Thx cmx has plastic buttons like the rane 62 and they tend to break if you do some heavy "fingerplay". I actually own a cmx2000 and i made a workaround for the pads (i installed pads into my cmx :D), but i thought using the pmx as a backup, but well... i will try to buy another cmx, if i have the luck to find one :D . Really a complete answer, you have solved all my doubts :D. This is my pad mod : ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-0IFB1Kjqyfo.html And sorry, my scratching was totally Not on time..i was just concentrated on the buttons :D...hihihi Ive done some measurements to some turntables if you wanna check. ;) And again thanks!!!!
Finally a proper review. I have this mixer for year and a half now, and I'm using it as DVS with Traktor Pro, and it works fine. Also, you should point out, it can be used as a MIDI controller, without DVS. You can fit it in a backpack along with laptop and carry it to a gig. And from the price point (I've paid around 250 USD for it) it's in the range of most budget DJ controllers out on the market. I changed crossfader for Mini Innofader Pro. It cost around 50 USD, and, in my oppinion, it's the best solution for this mixer.
It's about time someone with some knowledge I hope Gemini have seen this and looked after this guy cos hes done what they should of done he's done you a good turn. I got the 20
Wzup Richie, thanks for checking out the video. Let me know your thoughts as well when you get it. Quick tip... I'm working on the review for the PMX-20, it's very similar with a few more features. But, if you need the additional channels it may be worth it. Best of Luck.
Hi, bro! Very good video explaining the functions, and I'm thinking about getting this table. How does the quality and sound of the Gemini PMX-10 and PMX-20 sound cards? For a cheap price you can get a legendary brand, the Pioneer and Xone are way out of my budget. Thanks in advance
Wzup DJ Kurb, you are correct the time code records for traktor will work for VirtualDJ (VDJ timecode is not compatible with Traktor). If you have considered using either DVS application I would recommend purchasing the Traktor timecode to prevent you from having to buy both. Bear in mind I was using the subscription service of VDJ. Please follow this like for more info: www.virtualdj.com/manuals/virtualdj/settings/audiosetup/timecode.html
Whats up XFADE same as usual work, eat scratch n sleep good lookking out man i have the pmx 10 but i have to get the time code records tjanks for the video
Wzup Dan, unfortunately, no, they are not post xfader. You can achieve it in internal mode, but the mixer just becomes a midi controller...and you will need an external soundcard.
Wzup DJ McDonald, at the time of testing it did not work as expected. The mixer has a "software midi mode" in which VDJ handles the mixing but you lose DVS support which was not ideal. I experienced this also with my review of the PMX-20. An additional sound card is also required.
