Brian I'm really enjoying your chat about this plane. Pros and cons and how honest you are. Comparing other planes and their pros and cons etc. It really helps us spend our money where we think its best spent. I'm going to go out and buy this plane tomorrow. I hope you come up with a solution on maybe making it do more vertical. Maybe more intake area or a smaller exhaust?
I've heard of a few people cutting in cheater holes, and I suspect it would help A LO, since this plane seems to be starved for air, PLUS it could really use some cooling over the battery area too, if you can tolerate a few holes that might kinda mess up the sleek looks...but make her fly a bit better! I think the mods would be super easy, and you can do it for sure...but she'll do GREAT without, if you ask me. I feel like unlimited vertical is maybe a bit much to ask of even a higher performance EDF...just a few years ago unlimited vertical was a total impossibility on a BNF or PNF EDF ;) Things are getting a LOT better stock!!!
Brian it's the critical angle of attack that stalls any plane between 15° and 20° Some call it angle of incidence. After that degree is hit the plane stalls. Falls right or left depending on other factors. A wash can happen in power on stall as in a 182 with a 3 blade prop full scale. Now some small rudders do get washed with big canopies.
It is a fun plane! Have you experienced a washout into the elevator on hard turn yet??? Oh boy, get ready for a fun correction - and fast too - watch out for this Lance!
ahh the iowa summer flying days. if it aint a barn swallow its a turkey vulture hunting you down and you cant hide that initial reaction of wanting to dog fight with them
@@BrianPhillipsRC I had a red tailed hawk come over and just wanted to see who's flaps could hold them the still'est into a headwind, him or my Timber Evo. We flew right next to each other for about 3 minutes, me just using 10% throttle and takeoff flaps.
Brian. I can’t believe it took almost a 10 min video to show us how to kill a lipo in 3 min. 🤣. That Sirius is a really nice plane. Xfly is definitely starting out on a good note. Look forward to seeing new goodies from them. You and Megan got it going. 👍👍😎
That's okay - you're comments were NOT what I may have been referring too. Everyone has a budget, and a price for a given plane, this is totally non-offensive. It might actually help drive the price to a more reasonable point, and help XFly. What I'm talking about is when some A-hole comes in here, usually with something like 3-10 subscribers, and likes to tell us how stupid, ignorant, illegal, childish, sellout, low skilled, etc...we are. It happens about 3-5 times a week, and I deal with it...sometimes I delete the comments, sometimes I block the person, but out of 103,300 subs, we've only had to block maybe 30-40 people....and 3/4 of them are posting links to porn on our page. I say it, in passing a lot, but this channel is getting HARD to keep up with, and then you get those people, and I was telling Megan the other day - it'll take the wind right out of your sails. Having thick skin is a feature absolutely necessary of a RU-vid channel, and I think I have somewhat thick skin, but I do read and reply to about 99.99% of comments. Some of these jerks don't realize there's people on the other end of the RU-vid channel. They just assume it's an impersonal thing - Why??? Anyway, I don't mean to ramble here, but just wanted to reassure you Kelvin - YOURS were NOT the comments I may have been referring to - you're one of our regulars. I don't want you to think you're in that basket of deplorables (I don't ever elaborate of these little pokes, but YOU KNOW ;)
@@BrianPhillipsRC Kelvin Bloomfield 1 second ago @BrianPhillipsRC yea i watch AND enjoy all your videos on utube i dont have a pay site like you , i use utube to save all the flights ive made . under kelvin bloomfield .i gave you a thanks for all that i have learnt from you i. hope that was ok ? yea i dont do pokes.if i say anything its not personel. just my opinion.we all cant agree all the time right.and YEA im a regular .
@@BrianPhillipsRC yup … the wires from the receiver and electronic ignition separated from the switch causing the engine to shut down and no power to the receiver..it crashes in a plowed field and it’s totaled!!! The engine, receiver, and servos are all good thoug
Been waiting for this video since your last comment haha this thing looks like a blast! Here's a sad, but now funny story... I managed to get my new f16 80mm stuck 100ft up in a tree lol have it all on video too. Took 5 days to get it down but she's back together. Can't get the nose gear door to close all the way but hey, if that's it, then I'm ok with that lol gonna take her out later and see if she stays up! Great video, Brian. I do have an actual question tho. Would you buy an NX8 or another plane if you had a dx8 g1? That's where I'm at and I'm sooooo torn!! Haha take care!
@@lw216316 After 4 days trying with fishing weights, line, and a slingshot (which would've worked if the landing gear wasn't hung up in a branch) my best friend said screw it and climbed up to get it. He already had the harness for climbing. So we went to Lowe's and got 600lb rope. Ended up having to send a chainsaw up to cut the branch. From the actual impact, the right wing was in 3 pieces and snapped the smaller carbon spar. Bent one stabilator pivot rod, canopy and nose cone missing. Also one of the plastic tabs where you screw the wing to the fuse broke completely off. Luckily I ended up finding every single piece of the plane. Sad part tho, the impact from hitting the deck after he cut the branch smashed the fuse a bit. It's back together tho. Replaced the elevator servo, bent the pivot rod back, and glued everything back. The hardest part was figuring out how to get that tab back on and it actually be effective when screwing the wing on. Should be taking it out this weekend. Hopefully it goes well! No more trees! Haha
We have them all over the place. We have a large "Shop" area in our unfinished basement, and it's getting pretty full!!! We had a shop tour back a while ago - search my channel for CAT TREE, and you can see from about 6 months ago.
Hey Brian, have you ever had the f16 70mm eflite nose gear retreat not come down, because I fly mine at georgia jets airfield and I had to make a emergency landing because no nose gear. I belly landed it. My first belly landing ever and I’m 12 so it was very forgiving to see it land nicely. I fixed it if u need to know if you ever have that problem. Nice Sirius Dude
I haven't on that one, but if this happened to you, I BET it was bent BACK A BIT....from possibly a rough landing???? When they don't reach FULL RETRACT or FULL EXTEND they won't cycle the next time. I'd start looking there for your issue. I have had OTHER planes do this, and it's not fun. If it ever happens again... 1) Cycle the gear a few times. If no joy... 2) Flip the plane and try to FLING the gear out. This DOES actually work. 3) CHOP the throttle and use ALL the power to re-cycle gear. Gear are demanding on the BEC (power for the servos and receiver - NOT the motor) and then they MAY deploy as expected. 4) If all else fails, LIKE YOU DID - find some tall grass, if possible and STALL it in to mitigate damage.
Yes Brian I fixed it, right t was with the strut and it was bent back because I took off on a thick grass strip. Thanks and have a great rest of your weekend
I'm really surprised that with all the trees on and around your property that we haven't yet seen you put one into a tree. I think I remember you doing it back at the old house but maybe it was just hitting a sign or something like that.
Ohhh Yes, He Has Crashed Several Jets Into The Trees & The Carbon Cub Z 2.1m Into The Hanging Wires Over The Driveway! Yet There Is Only One Crash On Any Of Their Uploaded Videos? 🤣
