Chisa was the reason why I fell in love with XG. I fell for her voice in Shooting Star then Left Right sealed the deal. From then on Chisa just kept being the one for me in XG. She was born to be a pop star, especially when singing in R&B. Her voice is so soulful.
I think definitely if you watch the documentary you will see Chisa really does have that ability to carry. This was in the very beginning of their career. Love your reactions

I’m curious on your reference point for vocalist? Not arguing lol. I’m genuinely interested what the comparison to. Because the artists these days I feel are not the same caliber from what I would call great soloist like Mariah, Whitney, Celine , Aretha.
Appreciate the clarification, but if we're comparing to diva-esque, legendary vocalists, then virtually almost everyone else in the music industry can't carry a song by themselves. Either that, or we need to define what carrying a song means. Is Chisa Whitney? Nope. Does she have the vocal range to carry a song? Absolutely.
This was live. Like shes not lip singing to pre recorded vocals. This girl can absolutely sang! I just think the engineer did her a little dirty keeping her mic low or music too loud for her to compete with. I respectfully disagree but always love your reactions.
The behind the scenes for this song shows Chisa singing this live. Whoever did the mixing for this pushed the music volume way too high. RU-vid is known for compressing audio levels, so you have to turn the gain up beforehand otherwise you end up with a quiet video. This is my guess as to why her voice sounds so low here.
Like others have said this was early in her career and she's gotten a lot better. She goes off in winter without you live version not First Take. The live version is like First Take but with a real band playing instrumentals along with their live vocals. The song is a little different, especially; Chisa's part during the bridge where she goes off. The song has a different vibe than the First Take and the MV Winter Without You. I highly recommend it. I disagree with you brother but only because I think the sound engineer did her a disservice by keeping her mic ranges down too low. As a result, the music kind of washed her out. That said, this is also one of her earlier solo turns which is almost two years old. Since then, her voice has become stronger and she has learned a great deal more about how to use her vocal instrument (range wise) - my humble opinion. Either way, great reaction, with an honest critique.
