Interested to know how long it lasted. My experience with the phones XGody made was not good. Three phones stopped working after 3mths. Customer support was dreadful.
Don't do it. I cooked mine a few months after this video. It got hot one day so I cut it off. It won't power on. Customer support told me i used it to much!
@@SmoaksCartel Don't worry. No intention, I was being flippant. Lost all trust when all three phones - mine, daughters, and a friend's just gave up. Went for an 'Awesafe' instead. So far 🤞
@@SmoaksCartel Hi, Mine lasted over a year, but only cost me about £32.00. Like yours mine over heated, and only worked intermittingly after that. Also I had the same problem with the socket. I used it to play music whilst driving it would stop playing to tell you when your next turn off was coming up, so I liked mine, will chk out on Ebay, but not gonna get 7" I'll go for 5" this time. I think they also make nuvi. Just checked the price on ebay for 5" £32.68p plus free shipping.
I just got mine today. I had a RandMcNally that just stopped after 8 years. I was gonna get another but the prices are insane!! I opted to try this one. Im like you, just give me the gps nothing else. Hope mine works longer than 3 months like the guy a few comments back said. Thanks for the review.
I've been using this model for about 3 yrs. I agree, it's not the top of the line, but it works good, and very visible. The only issue I have is that it really doesn't have live traffic like the more expensive models....but overall....its a really good starter unit.
I just got a similar unit in the mail from Amazon. I drive small box truck and my route sometimes brings me down into the Boston area. Which normal GPS leads me down on. A stretch where overhangs our commonplace and the lowest point. I can't get under so primarily I purchased this unit to help me out. When I am sent down that way I'm hoping that this works out. The screen is a little big for my taste as you indicated. But we'll see what happens.
I just bought one of these Xgody GPS navigation system on Ebay and I paid $50 brand new. I should be getting it sometimes this week. Can't wait to try it out.
@@HENNYCHOKY - Yes I got it in and was very disappointed. No matter what I did, I could not get it to work properly. Sometimes the screen would freeze up as though there wasn't enough memory for it to continue, other times it would change screens by itself without me even touching it. I finally returned it for a complete refund minus the shipping charges. As a matter of fact, I even posted a video here on RU-vid to show the sellers what it was doing or didn't do. I won't buy another one for sure.
I just bought one for my 2014 Kia Sportage EX which doesn'tcome with a GPS. The reason why I chose the 9 inch Xgody is because the 2014 Kia Sportage SX GPS has the exact same software design as the Xgody.
Have never considered using/buying one. Now I'm medically retired but the last company I drove for had one in the Qualcomm and we fought all the time. With almost 30 years of over-the-road experience I know how to get to places the navigation gadgets never considered. There are some WalMart warehouses it couldn't route to me to. It wouldn't show/have the street names!🤦🏽♂️ Or the company would send routing to the middle of downtown when I needed to be on the edge of town. It got to the point where whenever the company sent me routing I'd have to delete it and pull out my atlas if I didn't know where I was delivering. I also kept the volume down and just looked at the directions I wrote on my notebook. But USE a truck GPS instead of a car GPS. Also change the settings from "shortest route" to fastest route." Shortest Route setting can get you into trouble along with making you late for pick up, delivery. Electronic gadgets are as good as the information in them.
When I was new I made the mistake of buying an expensive Rand McNally. I thought if would help me stay away from routs I wasn’t supposed to be on but boy I was wrong. My 450 dollar was a big waist of money. I had so many flaws that now I completely transitioned away from it and would never in 10000 years would consider buying one. I had it for about two years and it one day never powered on. Now I use Google maps driving mainly in NJ, NY, PA and rest of NE. Works a lot better than Rand.
I also have the 9 inch GPS. It is a nightmare to try to get. link updates for the map. It is routed me way out of route. Gets me almost my destination and then tells me recalculate that I'm out of route. It also takes me a route that's $1,000 fine. And I have been driving 17 years I'm not a rookie
Thanks for the video bud my eight-year-old Garmin nuvi GPS just broke down on me and I'm not thinking of spending too much money at the loves or pilot to get one of them GPS. by the way it's not your GPS power cord your outlet I've got the same issue with my cascadia do you still have the unit and how's that working up to now?
I messed with the XGody GPS for a week to update maps with a bad link, file wouldn't open, figured it out on my own and couldn't add all the updates because it ran out of room so I had to remove a lot of South American files and just when I think it's done POFF once I unplug it from the computer no maps are found!
I've been driving a while too, but I'm tired of the poor decisions being made by both Rand and Garmin, so what I really want to know is how is the routing for big rigs?
I brought the Xgody GPS had so many issues downloading the maps for Australia I sent it back to them with a lengthy complaint about this issue and well be refunded the price to by it and the postage and handling also left a lengthy complaint and a negative review on Amazon have brought another truck GPS.
How do I set the town name it always comes up as London how can I change it and make it as default, also how do I change so I can lookup the area by postcode rather than street name thnx
I looked for it on Amazon and read some reviews. People were saying not to purchase because it doesn't work for trucks and that someone who would purchase it would be killed following it's navigation.
@@SmoaksCartel I'm about to go over the road and after watching your video I loved it and I want to get it. But after going to Amazon and finding out that multiple people were saying that it's not for trucks got me worried. I don't want to buy it then regret it.
That's why I keep saying veteran driver in the video. Every gps no matter what it is will send you up shit creek for time to time. However as a trucker you develop truck sense and can tell just back a street now that you cant go down. This gps doesn't know what you are driving no GPS does that's you you must always go in the settings and tune it to what you have. But if your a rookie I'd get a randmcnally to hold my hand.
@@SmoaksCartel So if I purchase I can put in the settings that I'm driving a truck and it'll navigate me to where I need to go but obviously at the same time watching where I'm going because it's not always on point?
@@SPACEiQ1746 no gps is on point 100% say You go down a road thats closed for construction who responsibility is to read that sign? The gps still say go down... are you going down still?
Has anyone discovered away to get the speed information to show an actual speed instead of a percentage of over and under the speed limit when you are going down the road? It shows actual speed when you don't have a route programmed in.
Yes it does now it have had many updates recently. It won't even send you down a route that you wouldn't fit on. You can even change your height and weight in the settings depending on what type of truck and trailer you may be pulling
I bought the 688bt model in June and in October it started to turn on and off and then the normal screen appeared but starting December it just turned on and off I sent two emails to the company because I still have a guarantee and to date they have not answered me, there are already three weeks since I sent it
It is probably better than R MNally for 1/5th of the price. Those are really overpriced and overrated. I had one, it didn’t even last two years. It doesn’t turn on, dead forever. It sometimes turn on but turn back off by itself at most critical points when I am in NYC. Don’t buy Rand McNally. Buy these cheaper once if you don’t wanna get ripped off.
The XGODY 504 is the first sat nav I've ever bought. The reviews sometimes say it's crap, but I think it's brilliant, so far anyway (I've had it about 3 months). I can't get it to play the movies though, but what the heck ...
So my partner has the same sat nav, we are in the UK near London, however the xgody thinks our location is in Russia?! 😂 Any idea on how can we fix this
I just brought the same one and it won’t let me search outside of the state that I’m currently in (Fla) I’ve tried playing with the settings but I can’t figure it out
This review could have been very good, but the foul language that he didn't learn in Church just destroyed it. Serving the public, aa s PSA (public service announcement) video does, does no service if you can't let your children or your pastor watch it. Catch my drift? My God Bless and may the Lord bless your truck and you.
