I use these in soundcrates, powered with one 12v sla per crate and driving generic 5 inch car speakers. I've got a nice stack of them, 4 with the m543 and two with it's mono brother m544 for subs. Since cheap speakers rarely handle more than 20 real watts I prefer using more amps, speaks and crates to trying to get as many watts possible out of one amp on 24v. That way the amps can't destroy cheap speakers since they'll clip and cut out before the smoke escapes. They're pretty reliable when not stressed to the max and sound impressive. Well done TI and thanks China for putting it on a cheap board with a reasonably good pre-amp.
When you were showing the AM broadcast interference with the pre-amp, it got me wondering if my intended automotive application might be problematic. Does this board have any power conditioning for VCC? Do I need any external filtering?
Very good video.thanks for your valuable information.that is you said is the polarity of dc supply . many people will confused about the + - terminals of a new amplifier board. in this board iam also confused. But your video cleared all. I trusted your words and i had overcom that polarity confusion. Thanks alot
I have the same one and this amplifier almost got me into a trouble. I ran a 12 inch 700 watt car subwoofer with this amp and played with extreme bass tracks and it loosened my door's handle screws
Hello. First of all. I subscibe and turned off add blockers. Great times are had by all here. I went to the IC robot site and low and behold, I guess they used your testing video on their site. Im thinking of getting this to power my computer speakers.
In need of help! Working with XH-M542 Mono 100W Digital Power Amplifier Board TPA3116D2 Digital Audio Amplifier Board 12-24V with a jc 810 bt receiver module stepped down to 6 volts. The amp is stepped up to 19v. Power source is 4s 18650 with bms board. The Bluetooth receiver is coming through at pause and when pause is flashing it is audible through the speaker. Any help out there?
I must have missed the video where you tested your tube amps with higher than specified rail voltages. I've read on various DIY sites that the "sweet spot" for the TPA3116 is 19V. It would have been interesting to see how it sounds when not pushed so hard. The lower bass seemed to be fairly distorted. Was that the SG or the amp? Also, would increasing low pass filtering on the input possibly make it sound better? I always wonder if the chip is genuine TI or a knock-off.
Many do run at 19 volts using a laptop PSU. Output power is directly related to input voltage, as class D forms the analog waveform between the rail to rail switching voltage. If you drive it too hard (too much voltage) it cuts out. The distortion is mostly a camera mic artifact. Distortion on the speaker is actually very low even at full power, before clipping that is. Once clipping it sound like crap like all solid state amps. Only tube outputs sound good when distorted, as they just get fuzzy, and just won't go any louder.
Lots of interesting tests - did you actually say at what voltage supply the over-driven amp stops cutting out, or for that matter, what load resistance your speakers were ?
hello I bought this amplifier, I want to mount it in a portable radio and I will power it with 14 volts with 4 3000 mha 18650 batteries (approx) in 4S, I am looking for suitable 3 inch square speakers what can you recommend?
There are many model for xh-m543. Left led with 16 pin ic, right led with 16 pin ic And left led with original texas ic (more than 16 pin). The left led with not original ic with 16 pin are not recommend.
around 4 to 7 amps as by datasheet the max current is 7.5A at 24v gives you about 180w peak total for both channels 90w peak per channel not sure on the ohms i think its at 4 ohm load on both outputs . but main issue with some of these boards is the turn on / off pop/thump
Sir.. I gonna make 5 channels for 5 num of 4 ohm speakers by this one stereo board and three mono boards(using same ic) ... And I planned to use 20v for all boards.. But Am in confuse for what amp to be use for those boards to deliver crystal clear performance....??pls suggest me a good option Sir...
The sine wave was misshapen to the point where I would not rush to order one. I assume this is not down to the signal generator. It would be good if the camera was head on to the scope.
@@edsal2497 thing with class D is the power is rated based on. Input voltage and speaker load. Many times they rate into 4 or 2 ohms. These speakers are not very efficient so they chew up lots of power and don't put out a hell of alot of sound.
I was asking this questions cause I purchased a D amp module from e-bay and I did not work, I guess it was bad luck. I´m watching now other of your videos for TDA8954TH.
It was what 21 volts peek to peek just at the clipping point. Into 8 ohms, that would draw what about 2.6 amps, so 2.6 amps x 21 volts, around 54 watts peek. 54 peek x .707 to caluclate RMS so about 38 watts roughly. It is rated 50 watts into 4 ohms, 30 into 8.
I know this is 4yrs ago but I HOPE you can still notice my question and can give me some answer if you know. I just wanna know if this amp can be bridged its output? Thank you in advance. I hope I really get an answer from anybody.
Just checked the mono-version, XH-M542, chip was original! (you must apple A LOT of heat to the heatsink with a heat-gun for the silicone-glue to release. In my case I didn't apply enough eat so the chip was dismounted = dead board. But I know the chip was original now 😂)
