XHDATA D-219 Portable Radio Unboxing & Review 

I hav purchased two for myself and 1 for my 77 year old dad who was in hospital for 3 weeks and this radio gave him entertainment to the outside world he loved it i purchased 1 for a friend too .i took 1 of mine fishing and hung 15 ft of wire to a tree and clippd on to the antenna i picked up a station in Australia on shortwave im in ireland ...Fantastic peace of kit for the price 10/10

The FM in Europe is from 87 to 108 MHz. The scale from 64 to 87 can be used to listen to "official cars" like police or firemen.Very useful if there are troubles in the country. Thank you !!

FM2 (64 - 87 MHz) is used in Russia and Japan. In Russia and former allied countries has or still use the OIRT FM band that runs from 65,9 to 74 MHz with 30 kHz steps with an another stereo system (Polar stereo). FM in Japan runs from 76 to 90 MHz. In Japan they have expand the FM band to 95 MHz. I have also seen that Brazil expanded their FM band to 76 to 108 MHz. In the Netherlands some pirate stations use frequencies below the 87,5 MHz (3,5 meter pirates).

Listen to shortwave when the sun goes down due to ionosphere interference. You may need a supplemental antenna. I adapted rabbit ears and used an alligator clip to attach to the antenna.

What should be ideal specifications of DC adaptor to run this radio. It is operated with 2 AA cells that is 3volts. But for adaptor it mentions 5volts. Any idea? Also what should be the mah of the adaptor?

She is a winner. Got 5 meters of wire on a gator clip, then dug out my tentec bfo stand alone osc. Small coil printed on PC board " ping" I have a rig that reads ssb. And it's good and clear ...so now my 219 now works ssb .. so now folks get to work . Mmmm I wonder.. if the converters in USA analog/ new tv would work as the Chinese haven't gone digital. ??

After selling in my quick shack all DC I find that the 219 is better filtered. with very little noise from my battery powered fan that's a plus. And found that a Obama converter.. the converter that is used in keeping the old tube tv. Tuned on the new system ..will pick up down converted 6 meter AM AUDIO. Hi hi

If i use rechargeable aa batteries. Can i charge those batteries inside this radio with the power cable ? Or shall i remove those and get those charged with an external charger ??

Bottom line :does it mute between stations and is it DSP tuned? These are UNACcEPTAble ONradiosbut if your,e new to the hobby they will sell you any bells and whistles because chips are cheap to manufacture!

My only issue with these cheap radios, no local/DX switch (usually), no SSB (a lot of signals you can miss out on when you don't have access to SSB, and you can use SSB for more than just listening to SSB signals), and it isn't full coverage (no CB reception, and there's a few broadcasts below 4Mhz). They're a good starter receiver, but you do miss out on a bit when you don't have SSB, I'd always opt for something with SSB even if it's a bit more expensive, and as a result you'll get a receiver that's full coverage as well. But there's a trick you can do to be able to listen to SSB on an AM only shortwave receiver. You can inject a signal into the radio (a NanoVNA works well in achieving this)
