Looking forward to part 2! Your comment about the game's presentation making you excited to play it is right on, I am feeling the same way as you set up and picked your ship. I don't own it, but videos like this remind me why I need to keep an eye out for when it's back in print!
Pure coincidence but I took xia off the shelf last night to give it a go. Just set up my first ever game and chose the same ship as you. Thought I’d watch some vids before I started and yours popped up as I was searching. Loving it and looking forward to the next update!
Love this indepth look at the game. I love sandbox style games (Merchants and Marauders, Western Legends, etc) and Xia and its expansions look like my cup of tea. Love your enthusiasm for it too, and that of the Xia community. I may have just ordered this through the Arydia campaign ;-) Still no combined rulebook, by the looks of things, but kudos to the publishers for keeping the price pretty much the same as its always been (I believe), despite what have undoubtedly been some big price increases over the years.
Hey Daniel. Wanted to let everybody know the Far Off Games Xia reprint just restocked on Amazon this morning and everything: Core game, Embers expansion, Missions & powers, Sellsword and 2k gold coins are all available at normal retail prices right now. I just ordered everything (plus organizer). Excited to finally get to play this game!
I just bought this game, and I’m 5 minutes into your review. And damn you hit the nail on the head with the art and love your examples relating it to other games and 80s anime. Then I hit your profile. Boom cave evil. Hell yeahhhh ! You gonna talk about Sol and High Frontier ? Cosmic Encounter and Cosmic Frog too. Your narration is clear and natural btw. Killer dude. Keep it up.
Great! Glad you liked the review; Xia is a great game. I have a very narrow style of game that I cover on the channel. Mainly only solo adventure games, with a focus on fantasy and dungeon crawls, and sometimes SF adventure games. Those other games you mentioned don't strike me as the kind of game I'd add to my collection and cover, although in the past I have played the hell out of and loved Cosmic Encounter.
@@TheDungeonDive yes it is, but in my opinion a bit more streamlined and playable when you are not constantly playin it. Should mean, it is returner friendly if you are used to play more games over year. And the most importend, it is more thematic in meaning of how the system is used and applied.
You're totally right about juggling rulebooks, so I've spent the last couple of weeks consolidating them into a single Google doc. Still a work-in-progress, but hopefully will be useful to everyone. See here: boardgamegeek.com/thread/2565575/progress-consolidated-rulebook
I'm hoping this comes to the pledge manager for Aridya. On that subject, what's your initial thoughts on Arydia. Whilst Xia seems fairly unique. Aridya is from a crowded market.
I got a notification from the publisher that Amazon US is being restocked (I was already able to place an order). I believe BGG has a thread with more info for EU, etc.
@@_milgauss I wish it was as easy as going to Amazon in the EU, Being an English speaker living in Germany I have to use the UK. often to pick up English versions.Brexit no deal will ruin this exercise with additional costs. In Germany the English versions are usually 30% more expensive or you simply can’t find an English version. All of the store sites show out of stock with no pre order. Again I’ll have to randomly hope that on a particular day I search webpages that I’ll find copies. Also it’s another account you have to sign upto for a one off game. I wish it was as easy as going to Amazon.
