English language is available in Mi Home settings.. you need to chose in option local- United States and in option Language- English. Then the whole app will be in English..
*I absolutely love this thing for cleaning all flooring surfaces **MyBest.Tools** even does a great job on throw rugs. Highly recommend! Cuts cleaning time in half!*
Great review! My wife and I've been thinking about getting the Xiaomi vacuum robot for a while and I think your review finally made me take the plunge. Fortunately my wife's Chinese so we won't be having problems with the app. I have way too much Xiaomi gear at home already, lol - mi tv, 2 mi portable speakers, a ninebot mini. Massive fan of the company. Thanks!

They just released the full English app for iOS. I'm guessing they have it for Android as well or it's coming soon. I didn't see a release, I just logged in this weekend and there it is. You can even download an English voice pack. I have been super impressed with this vacuum, I had a iRoomba 960 for about 3 weeks before I decided to return it and give this a try. The Xiaomi's navigation seems way more intelligent and more reliable to clean all the rooms in my 4 bedroom house and return to its doc. They both seemed to clean my hardwood floors fine, but it seems like the Xiaomi picks up debris like Cherios better which is a lot of our debris. Either are acceptable though. The larger battery is really nice because it gives me way more control over having it run when I want it to when it doesn't recharge for 3 hours and resume. I thought the map was a neat gimmick but it is very practically helpful in day to day operation seeing if it had a problem or if you had to cut it short what it missed. Spot clean is way more useful so I actually use it and it's very helpful. The two wins for the iRoomba was I did like the tower virtual walls better than the magnetic strips on the Xiaomi. The xiaomi brush is also harder on sensitive woven rugs, it starts to pull the weave where I didn't notice anything with the all silicone brush on the iRoomba. The xiaomi also has a hard time with our thick shag rug, it can get itself up then knows it can't vacuum it so it backs off but spends a lot of time trying to climb and then deciding against it all the way around if I don't put a magnetic barrier down around the edge. Ive still been thrilled with it and now it's so much better with an English interface.
Thanks for helping me with my decision to buy a MIHome, when my friend showed me the fine dust the MIHOme picked up I was impressed. I will not buy them online because the warranty is for a limited period hence the cost is lower.
HELP! What are the voice commands for Alexia skill? START? STOP? DOCK? SPEED? ETC. ? I have gotten Alexa connected to the Mi vacuum and it will start and stop but I don't have commands for DOCK or SPEED. Excellent video. Thanks, John
tdwt.. Its better in my opinion because I have had my old Roomba for over 4 years now and I have read alot of reviews that this China unit doesn't last long.. 6 months to maybe a year. So technically you will have to buy 3 of these cheap China robots instead of only having to buy one time. Roomba is tried and true.. There's an old saying : You get what you pay for.
tdwt Nah, I own both of them. I recommend the Xiaomi. Roomba's just ripping you off with huge profits with lesser features and last just as long. In fact, my Roomba's now broken and the Xiaomi's still going strong. Xiaomi is well known for their quality worldwide. Their not just some "cheap China robot" lol. The ignorance of some people.
I would not expect any less uncivil behavior from a user named "US USA". Salty Americans. Your expensive ripoff American products are inferior even without considering the price.
Do you know of any software upgrades. It looks like Xaiomi is not doing product maintenance which is terrible customer support. See my comment above for the problems with this product.
Also there are missing obstacles (chair legs, table legs, carpet etc), which everybody has at home. Also if you have any animals then main issue is the hair. In That Sense rubber brushes are more Practical (otherwise You need to clean the brushes after every time)
I just bought one for 389 on Amazon. You cant find this for under 325 once shipping costs are added in. I went with amazon for their return policy should i not like it.
Will the app be able to control several of these vacuums on different floors of the same house at the same time. How does one control them via the app if you have more than one of these vacuums?
35cm (roomba) vs 34.3cm (MI) with or without the "chimney" ?! :P any of them works at night without ambient light? and where is possible to buy de Mi at 250usd?!!!
Good review! Very proffesional and thorough! :D The Mi is in my pricerange and much better than I ever need or demand. ;) Neatos programing has impressed me alot, and Mi's looks quite similar in that regard. I Use "Vileda Relax" now and are perfectly happy so far. But the moment I need a new one, the MI it is!
Thank you so much for this review, I appreciate all of the information!!!! I'm so glad I did not invest in the iRobot Roomba! Thank you also for a very smartly made video!! :)
The biggest issue with the Mi Robot is carpets. It erroneously reports that the Robot is blocked. This is likely due to the current sensor software being too sensitive in the robots motor stall monitoring. Xiaomi need to upgrade their software. I've had this for 6 months and have reported this bug. The software should allow a user level adjustment of this sensitivity so that you can get the robot to work on carpets without stopping.
I run it every other day, never had a problem. I don't quite agree with you in term of quality and durability. I have used a few chinese product and US brands. Maybe there are some low quality chinese products I should say, but it is not always bad
Sam My Xiaomi is still working well while my roomba just broke. Bought both at the same time. Generalizing Chinese products is the stupidest thing a consumer can do nowadays, since they make both the best and the worst products. They have the manufacturing capability to cater to all market segments, something no other country ever provided.
I had both. First the 980 iRobot which kept getting “lost” in my open concept living area and then the Xiaomi S50 v2 version. Prefer Roomba’s counterrotating rollers to the nylon bristles on the single Xiaomi roller since I had such issues with pet hair with a previous Roomba and the nylon bristle roller design. However, practically-and in absence of a pet currently-the Xiaomi has cleaned as well as the latest Roomba. Most importantly it can navigate the entire house without getting lost, error 17 codes, or running out of battery when unable to find its way back to base. The Xiaomi also does not ram or etch my furniture which was a huge disappointment with the Roomba. I still have marks on furniture let by my first Roomba a decade ago, and I saw little improvement in this regard. In the end, I returned the Roomba. If it is unable to navigate a room unattended, the whole purpose of a robotic vacuum disappears. I run the Xiaomi twice weekly. It must return to base prior to finishing the entire house to recharge, but has finished the job every time without exception. I REALLY liked the Roomba but it simply couldn’t finish the job due to the inferior navigation system. And my furniture thanks me as well.
I just read on another review off this vac that it won't work well on pattern carpet as it seems to avoid cleaning black coloured spots on pattern carpet , can anyone else confirm this is true as it's the only thing putting me off to purchase the xiaomi vac
How about also testing cat fur? Most of us with pets would love be able to remove, at least, some of it and it also tangles the vacuum-head of most machines.
Just got mine after reading many reviews on youtube. English App is on Apple and Android phones with English voice pack. Great product and the map shows realtime movement of the robot is great. Paid USD$275.00 including shipping. It can share the control of the robot between multiple members of the family. Highly recommend.
Wayne Lo Hello Wayne, how does it function now? Does it still work perfectly? Kindly let me know your experience as I’m planning to buy one and would like to know how it functions.
Will happily pay 500$ to learn to read the Chinese menu and still get a good deal for the vacuum :p (but seriously I can just use google translate once and save it later for reference...)
i don't know what is your review , i tell you my opinion . I have both . I first boufht the XIAOMI because it was cheaper and i thought it was a bargain. Xiaomi is a piece of crap. 1 Toothpic makes the Hoover stuck and much noise. It gets stuck and does not Clean . I have to go all the time and remove the brush and put it back. I had some pieces of PopCorn on the floor , xiaomi Got stuck . I bought Irobot second handed because i found it cheaper. It's performance was 10 times better . It Cleaned much better, Brushes did not get stuck , And it was more efficient . XIAOMI In my opinion is CRAP. JUNK.
Is it just me or is this review bias because the dirt was positioned in such a way that the iRobot goes across the entire mess while the Xiaomi goes across the width? I highly doubt the Xiaomi wouldn't have made the same mess had the dirt been thrown horizontally vs vertically.
That there did not speak, and iRobot Roomba 980 is the best !!!!! High thresholds overcome, low in height, which gives more patency through low furniture and, accordingly, in cleaning it is excellent, service is everywhere and everywhere, that there is an opportunity to purchase repairs in case of breakage, well, no less important is also a container with garbage, Which is the biggest on this list !!!! I recommend, it's not advertising, but your own view for the difference, and it's worth it !!!!! Of course, you can go and in a cheap car and in the expensive more comfortable, but, everyone chooses his own, by his own pocket !!!!!
LOL. The only thing that located the same are the 2 main wheels and the side brush (actually almost all vacuum in market used the same design principal). FYI, Xiaomi has much more advanced technology inside compare to the Roomba. Roomba is just simply overpriced and still using old tech.
So far so good with this vacuum. ru-vid.comUgkx8ISPQRRAfpAaX4msGjyodObTBnlj4T5g I was a little concerned to find it seems to be all plastic, but the reviews were good, so I'm hoping for the best. Very easy to assemble Recommened, and only attachments I've used so far work well, and are easy to use. Doing a good job on the new carpet in my bedrooms and stairs. Works well on the hardwood on my main floor too. Reasonable weight and cord length. I already knew from an earlier review that it wouldn't fit under furniture, but I can use my Eufy for that, so no problem - the high traffic areas that need a stronger suction was really what I bought this for. If it continues as it's started, it will be a good buy and well worth the money. I have had two Shark Rocket stick vacs in the past that are super easy to use, but the motors just don't last well, even with scrupulous cleaning of the filters. I'm hoping for better with this Bissell.
