Indeed I should have showed that. Believe it or not I run the 590 narrower, usually between 2.3 and 2.4. The speaker is the weak link here on the G90. Plugged into a good external spkr or headphones it's a game changer Thanks for sharing your thoughts on the 7300 also

Correct, the G90 doesn't have any EQ functionality, and the 590 RX eq is on the HB2 setting in this video which boosts higher frequencies, but doesn't attenuate lower frequencies like the HB1 setting. I find it contributes to the most "full" sounding audio (in general). While the (less than ideal) Pixel 7 onboard mic this was recorded on doesn't paint the whole picture, I'm happy with the RX on both of these units considering I live in QRM hell here in solar farm suburbia hi hi

@@whiskeysix Exactly... phone mic plus RU-vid's audio compression makes it less than desirable. One can get ideas but that's about it. 73 thanks for a civil conversation. We all need more of that.

Likewise sir. Also I forgot to mention the noise reduction circuit is turned off on the 590 since the G90 doesn't have one. Makes a big difference! They're both just using the digital noise blanker function.

Great observations. The 590SG meter is weird, and doesn't work when the AGC is off and or the RF gain is low. The G90 is much better with the AGC off, so they both stayed off for the comparison

Absolutely. Besides a fancy display, nothing below the TS590 price point has more features and capabilities... Unless connecting a mouse or monitor is a total game changer for you haha.

I own a 7300 and DX10 - the biggest mistake I made was selling the 590SG to buy the DX10 !!

@@forgetyourlife Everthing! lol. Direct entry from the front panel. 2x antenna inputs plus RX in. The amazing build quality. The 12-band graphic equalizer that doesn't distort like the 3-band parametric equalizer in the DX10. The fact that it didn't lock up like the DX10 STILL DOES even after firmware updates. The fact that the fans hardly ever came on and the DX10s won't shut up! The enjoyment of use vs the frustration of use (due to the DX10's dreadful ergonomics that has me reaching for the keylock button every few seconds). I haven't even scratched the surface yet - but you get the picture. The DX10's RX/TX performance is truly excellent, but for me that's not enough. The 7300 & 590 are both very different to each other, but they share a common theme... they both go about their business in a logical and effortless way. The DX throws logic out of the window and replaces it with a massive dose of screwy!

@@RF_Burns sounds like I remember. Sold the dx10 got the 710. It’s a bit better but not much and has new issues of its own. Sold the 710 as well and just sitting on the 891 until I can find a used 590 I guess.
