In this episode i work on attaching the seat cowl in its final position. I make a locator and fit a locking system where i will be able to pull a cord ( eventually fabricate a leaver ) and the seat will pop off!

A little tip to help with burs on hole drilled is to hold a piece of scrap wood against the back side so the drill bit thinks it's still going through the same material, yielding a perfect hole with no burs to file or grind off. Especially helpful when drilling fiberglass. I hope this tip helps save you a little extra time my Friend! Zip~

I like it! I had already been wondering how to do a seat latch on my XJ550 project without a lot of fabrication. Thanks, friend!

Top bit of work, great alternative to the usual bolt down as you say. Back of seat to frame hoop looks well tasty.

Good to see you back on it, and the quick release certainly beats bolts. Have you thought of extending the hump you put in for the battery box further back to the to meet the beginning of the rear hump, this should stop it flexing when you take the seat off.

Seat pans looking really good. Maybe a bit more glass to stiffen it up and glass over those bolts so they dont come undone.
@jishh

Thats the plan!

Great job! Looks like the seatpan can use another layer or 2 of glasfibre and epoxy.
@jishh
@jishh 5 лет назад
Indeed it does. Its pretty thick in the centre but needs reworking and shaping on the hump still
@SnekSnack
@SnekSnack 5 лет назад
Great idea. Maybe, reinforce / add another layer to seat base, hope it will not bend that much when you will add foam/epolstry. If you had this in plan next or mentioned it in video, don´t mind me :D

Will you be using the 2 part liquid foam to make your seat an exact fit? Its like mixing epoxy but expands, specifically for seats. 1 tin will probably do 3 seats. Last time i looked it was about £40. I used it for a dt125r base as like your seat base it was very uneven.
@jishh
@jishh 5 лет назад
Got a link or know what its called? I need this!
@fit21guy
@fit21guy 5 лет назад
The way I did it was line some card with duck tape (released good) wrapped it around the seat pan and taped it, can seal any gaps with tape or hot glue then just shape once set... I used an electric carving knife from argos about £12 lol

Welding downhill is easier yo, and it sounded like your wire speed was up a bit high or voltage to low. Nice work tho.

I'm sure that the end product will look good, but... too much cinematic, not enough engineering. It's not a good video in my opinion if the B-roll takes much more time than A-roll. Good luck
