In this Monday Minute, we look at the xLights Cube Model and how it can be an excellent tool for pixels forests and pixel stakes.
I failed to mention that each row of six is on its own controller output.
Please subscribe to the channel and smash that thumbs up!

So using your example above, and wiring differences aside, any advantages/disadvantages between using the Cube Model vs creating 72 individual single lines? Silly question I know but I'm curious about any rendering issues between the two different setups or overall creative flexibility in sequencing. I have 40 single lines as an experiment in xLights but not built physically so now would be the time for me to start over with the Cube method. The sequencer master view would be much cleaner it seems. Also, at 3:15 you mention showing how to test to see if they are wired correctly but I'm not seeing where you do this. Liked and Subscribed. Thanks.

I think you have to try both and experiment. With render styles, you can manipulate most models and groups. I don't have a comparison, but it could be something I look at after this season is over.

Fantastic info!!! I am planning on doing a "forest" for this year but on the front lawn and it will be an irregular shape, where the rows and columns will be a bit wavy. The cube seems to be the easiest way to do sequencing with. My question is: how would you tell xLights that you have 2 strings on one port, where they zig-zag (i.e. from controller to the first row, to the right, at the end of the first row the second string is connected and is the second row and goes to the left back toward the controller; for power injection); similar to a megatree zigzag up and then down. I'm sure it's something I missed. Thanks for all your knowledge you are willing to share

This would be tough to answer without trying to configure it this way. I do zero power injection in my show. I don't believe you will be able to zig zag back to the beginning. This is typically only used for the legs. There are many ways to configure the cube model so trial and error will be your friend unless you find someone who has created it the same way as you intend.

@@xTremeSequences That was quick!!! Thanks. I think I will do an experiment and lay the strings on the ground and see what happens. If all else fails, I'll have to connect each row to a port on the controller. May have to get one with more then 8 ports or add a diff rec into the same box to get 11 stings connected. I'm thinking of 11x11x7 cube

@@xTremeSequences Interestingly - when going to the visualizer, each string is assigned to a single port automatically - so zigzag is totally out. Each string has to have it's own port.

@@zoltankirsch287 That sounds sensible. Keep us posted on your progress.

I'm confused with the term "Alternate Pixel".
@xTremeSequences
@xTremeSequences Год назад
It refers to the skipping of pixel holes in coro to prevent spicing. If you have 13 holes that are 2" spaced on one stake and want t9 make use of an entire str8ng then you stagger ir alternate the pixels. Starting at the bottom of a stake you skip every other hole and come back down the stake. This is alternating pixels.

Where the heck is the "per model default deep?! It's not on my Mac version 2023.13.

You will not see this option unless you are at the group level.
