Are you capable of watching AND listening to a video and getting the gist of what I'm presenting? I thought I explained it rather well... I said this is not a "how to change the pinion gear" video. Of course I used loctite! I showed a screen shot of the manual, AND READ IT! Traxxas does NOT recommend this gearing. It will over heat under hard acceleration and braking. I'm watching my temps closely, and using it for a particular reason. Here's why... 15:03 Watch it again, and maybe listen too. Here's another lovely demonstration of what wheel speed does for the Xmaxx in the air... 17:02 Please, watch AND listen. I try to share what I learn. It's not as easy as you might think to make a video and present an idea and do the driving and filming and editing. Here's my summary I even included at the end. Remember, watch AND listen... 20:13 Oh. And thanks for watching!
I was gonna run either 18/50 or 22/54 gearing without the peg system. The stock 18/54 hardly has enough wheel speed to make the truck back flip. You have basically stay on the throttle and watch the truck perform the world's slowest back flip lol. My Maxx and Rustler 4x4 don't have that issue.
What’s the fucking point...!!! Besides making us watch a whole video and nothing happens? Your content is already decent so people watch.. don’t be another one of the useless RU-vidrs who bait people with titles like this.. your car ran fine and the temps were good with that gearing why would you say to not run it?
You clearly increased top speed on a (relatively) long run by changing your spur and now the pinion but did acceleration and responsiveness to quick full throttle improve or diminish?
seems like a waste of time it will run hotter and wont make much difference..xmaxx isnt designed to be a speed machine theyre relatively slow compared to any of my other rc rigs
I did 20/46 dude and it destroyed my spur gear bearing just to let you know got to be down to heat was around 77f outside but I was bashing although given regular breaks between
I don't use the pin system with my aftermarket 50/20t gearing and Max 6 esc and aluminum motor mount. No issues, but I'm not stock. I wouldn't do higher gearing with stock ESC on the xmaxx. Too weak.
So I just got the traxxas link, and I have no idea what that voltage is on the lower right, is that the controller voltage? For some reason mine says 3.2 with new batteries in it.
I increased the gear ratio 10%, but only gained 3-1/2% more speed in mph. I believe that's due to diminishing returns on the power system. But during a backflip I'm sure there's 10% more wheel speed with no load on them. It rotates so nicely, got wheel speed to sell...
Overheating issues. I talk about it some in the video. It's fast, but for most driving conditions it's the wrong gear setup. I want the wheel speed for backflips...
It's a Garmin ForeTrex 401. I use velcro to mount it. That's a $200 unit tho. If I had to do it over, I would buy this... ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-I9nKuorcvPM.html
Here's an Ebay link... www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-Traxxas-6532-Phone-Mount-for-TQi-Aton-Transmitters-FREE-SHIPPING-/312164066939?_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l49292
Good point. What I've done is check the speed with GPS, then plug in false gearing numbers to get the speed right in the app. That doesn't allow for spinning the tires, but mostly it's right...
Are you asking me? I always let off the throttle before landing. Even if it's the last split second. Takes the loading of the brushless motor off the gear train. Brushless is so strong, staying on the throttle will destroy the gears...
Hmmn... It's always interesting to me how some people think they can see better what's going on in a video that I can see and feel irl. The mesh is fine...
@@chilly7261 do you still have stock ESC and stock motor? I am thinking about going with Max 6 ESC mine has had a few glitches. But the 22/46 gearing seems to be great.
Let me count the reasons... Takes a higher skill level of driving to hit the catch ramp. It's so fun when you do. I'm not senselessly destroying a thousand dollar model. They use a catch ramp for big air in the X Games? Yes? Yes they do. There is still a risk/ reward factor of casing or overshooting the catch ramp. So go ahead and mindlessly bash your Xmaxx, ok? You do own one, right?
17.01 Super sweeet! Great vid 👍 Really interesting to see you’ve matched Maxx wheelspeed - just to check though, are you saying you will def. swap out gearing for black top runs etc. to keep temperatures in check? 👍
Thanks! No, this is a blacktop gearing setup. It's a real high ratio setup. I would switch to a lower gear ratio for lots of speed changes for like a track setup...
Hi, good video, I'm abit unsure on what set up I should put in mine, I have a standard 8s all stock and want to increase speed without damage lol any idea's for pinion and spur gear what is best thanks. (Still want to jump it was also) lol
@@RB-MP7 i tried that gearing with stock gears and the first pull of the throttle my spur gear blew up and then I tried a second one traxxas sent me for free and got about 3 passes in and the gear blew up again so I ordered a gds 50t and 20t Robinson racing pinion and never had trouble again plus its just so much more responsive and good speed. Goes roughly 45-50mph which is perfect for the smaller areas i run in
