I learned the hard way when the teeth sheared off some of them went into the channel that the driveshaft runs through, and once I put a new one on I didnt realize there were still pieces in there and shortly after I ran it again it sheared the new gear as well 🤦♂️
Castle Creations motors and ESCs definitely have some pep. More than Hobbywing products. Hobbywing has better control and tunability I think though. I put Castle systems in stuff I just want insane power in, Hobbywing I put in RCs I want the control and tunability. That being said, I have got a castle system for my Summit and the Summit is more of crawler than a basher.
I may be wrong on this but I think the Hobbywing Max5 is a stronger esc, but this Monster X8s esc impresses me everytime I drive it! and it stays cool too.
@@ExocagedRC You are probably right. The X8 from my knowledge is a 1/6 scale ESC capable of up to 25 pounds, the Max5 is rated up to, I believe, 35 pounds. The Hobbywing is definitely 200amp and the Castle, I think it is 180amps. I forget. The Hobbywing Max6 would be a better comparison for the Castle Mamba X 8s. Castles answer to the Hobbywing Max5 is a little overboard with the XLX. Hobbywing does have a 14s capable ESC. I don't recall the name of it, but to my knowledge, Castle doesn't have a product in that category.
Me- ***binge watches Xmaxx videos*** Me- ***buys an Xmaxx so I can have one*** Me- ***still binge watching Xmaxx videos instead of driving my own Xmaxx*** 🙄🤯🤔
😬 Exocaged, ow the blazing stars did u accomplish such a look with that spur I could not tell what it was before u removed it from truck, Wow that's defo an A for achievement 😎 do we have a video on this, would be great if it was 📹
the 800kv castle system is perfect for this truck if you run the stock system geared up 24/46 to get around 50+ on pavment you go into thermal shutdown in about 5min on a warm day not to metion off road im running 33/33 mod 1.5 gears on mine getting 60+ going full throttle back to back on 90+ degree day and temps still stay in check i got a video of my setup on my channel
@@ExocagedRC totally you think dropping down to mod 1 gears will improve run times since the gears are alot lighter or is it the ratio that drains it so fast?
This is absolutely going to be the next RC. You can beat the living daylights out of it and it still wants to keep driving lol! Great video! Keep em coming!!!
Did you have any over heating problems! Seems like you live where it's hot! I'm in Florida and it's too hot to run during the day! It's early or late running! Really dig your channel man ! Awesome work! Even with fans on the motors they seem to get pretty hot? Any suggestions? 👍👍😎👽
I live in north Florida so yeah summer sucks. Generally speaking I’ve never had a heat issue with any big 800kv motor. They just move the truck so easy it doesn’t really get that hot.
Exocaged RC What gear ratio do you suggest for 1100 KV? This hobby is expensive I have 3 boys appreciate your content .Im buying parts now I’ll be using your link XMAXX FTW
Can you explain the point of the huge pinion if you can't use the top speed? I'd be afraid of shredding tires. I'm afraid of shredding tires on my stock XMaxx.
its an 800kv motor so it needs a big pinion, the stock motor is 1200kv so it uses a much smaller pinion, the bigger pinion keeps tire speed up and thats what helps it get backflips and control in the air.
@@ExocagedRC Thanks for the response! I'm learning, so my comments are not intended to be sarcastic or rude, but it sounds like you changed the motor for no reason then. Do you have more control in the air over a stock setup? Are you not concerned with exploding tires?
ishootstuff changing the motor is as much for power as it is durability. Never a heat issue, motor bearings are a failure point on the stock motor but they aren’t an issue with the bigger motor. It’s not a needed mod with the big motor but many of us do this because more power is more fun. Tires exploding is almost a normal thing and it’s to be expected when you push things too far. It’s just part of the game.
How do I mesh 20/50 mod.1 gears on the Xmaxx stock motor mount. I can not get them to mesh no matter what I do. Do I need a new motor mount! With pins they don't touch without it's to tight lol.
Yes even had a buddy try his hand. I got 18/50 running smooth but soon as I go 20 it sounds like death. Took my wheelie power down. Can't actually do a flip haha
Awesome project. Best would be to print a gear cover also? One small rock, piece of brench might take them out again. I messed up some speed gears on my rig like that.
Hi, I'm new to your channel. It seems it's not popular to go to lower gearing for easier wheelies??? Can you damage the motor by using lower gears? I'm not interested in trying to hit 60 but, I'd like to be able to pull wheelies easy and rock crawl too.
Hello love the videos! I have that same xmaxx for a week. The first 30 mins I ran it in my back yard I broke a rear c hub. Today I broke a front lower arm. Before I spends some money since I spent a used car for it lol I was wondering what arms you recommend? Thanks have a wonderful night!!
I need some advice, just picked up a used XMAXX 8s (had intentions of upgrading it) and it has the stock motor but an upgraded Castle XL Mamba ESC and the gears are totally ripped off, I think the stock 54 tooth spur is now a 3 tooth spur and the pinion is about a 1 tooth. So I’d like to get it a bit faster but while also not overheating anything. What ratio would I be looking at? (New to spur gears n stuff like that)
Yeah those can flip easy too but they are a bit....less... the Xmaxx is just so big. The Maxx is also a backflip beast. I have a few arrmas already but maybe I need to get an outcast. Never had one of those.
