Have been a Wacom Intuos user for a long long time. These days with so many great graphics tablet companies coming out, I personally feel Wacom is just the pricey brand name now for its more known name recognition. They used to dominate the market. I am the type of guy who is always looking for bigger and better tech regardless of name recognition. I can say XP-Pen has hit a grand slam with this Deco Pro series and others. No point spending double or even triple the amount of money these days unless you just want to tell friends you own a Wacom.
Brad, you didn't mention the touchwheel also operates as a laptop trackpad. You can move the mouse pointer and even the canvas around with your finger on it. Also, the brightness level on the wheel is adjustable, and you can even turn it off.
Does this work on the XP-Pen Deco Pro Small as well? I mean it would make sense, but I couldn't find anything on that online this far. And does it operate as a trackpad on Desktop PCs as well or is that just for Laptops? I know these questions seem stupid, but I've seen a lot of bs with these devices and it's really important to me.
@@shiishani3302 I can only guess that the small model operates exactly the same as the medium. You can ask XP Pen directly on RU-vid or on their website. I would still recommend a Wacom, though.
abdul malik it’s very good and considerably cheaper. I had quotes to repair over 600 euros. Er, no. Pity because love Wacom stuff. I do more and more work on the iPad Pro these days so the cheaper Xp pen 22E works for me.
@@graemehogg7033 Is the color, drivers and parralax at least bearable on xp-pen. Because atm the only tablet i trust are apple, wacom, and the new 2019 huions. I heard alot of bad stuff about xp-pens screen tablets. Because if the color and pen isnt good id rather shell out an extra 600 for the22d, or 300 more for a huion kamvas.
I've looked and researched the reviews fir the 22E, but I'm waiting to see when the 2019 comes out. I'm leaning towards the Deco Pro, only because my old Bamboo won't work on my new IMac. I think the new XP-Pen Display should be out in 1-2 months.
Just got this last Saturday and the 8k pressure levels are great. The virtual and analog wheels are also a great touch. The software is simple to use and vastly improved. Also, not sure if this is intended but I actually managed to use the pen of my star 03 on it. While it worked, I didn't really like drawing on Android with it (probably because it was too big). I could see the deco pro s as doing better on that front. Overall, this is a great tablet and I'd highly recommend it for beginner or intermediate artists.
@@donnyrizal_ Can't say since I have never tried Wacom before. That said, I doubt entry level Wacoms can compete with a similarly priced Deco Pro in terms of pressure sensitivity. As for driver and software support, XP-Pen has upped its game in the last year or so. The only thing going for Wacom really is the wireless on some of its entry-level models (I think it's for the Intuos M). Of course, you might want to check on other people who've bought Wacoms and the Deco Pro just to be sure. For me though, I'm really happy with the Deco Pro M. Hopefully they integrate the analog and virtual wheel design on their upcoming display tablets (like what they did with the deco 03's wheel on the 15.6pro).
I tend to draw quite slowly when I'm inking or finishing an illustration. I found the only tablet that didn't have any wobble when drawing slowly was the intuos pro (when I was looking a few years ago).I even found the wobble lines with the cheaper intuos (non-pro) tablets. It is good to see how much better the cheaper tablets are getting now though.
Nice review Brad. This tablet really looks high quality for the price with lots of features. I hope you could review the XP pen 10s V2 that just recently released. I've been eyeing that.
I so glad some at least say it..... there's no benefit of getting a Wacom over this. So often people just blur out that you need a Wacom Intuos Pro if you want a pro, but when it comes to these drawing tablets, that's not the case anymore. Great review. Curious, would this work on a Chromebook as well? That would be interesting. Then you could get a Chromebook and this for the price of a same sized intuos Pro :-D
Just bought a clean second-hand "deco pro M" last week (not the wireless version since I don't trust any Bluetooth devices) and it's performing really well so far. I really love it. The wheel is Just so practical to have besides the normal 8 express buttons. I wish the pens aluminum was actually steel instead of plastic. but it's alright as long as you don't wildly scratch the pen
I'm going to get this one, this coming Month. I am doing the small version of it. My brother is going to help me buy it because my XP-PEN Star G640 let go on me (for the 7 months I had it and I contacted them they are going to replace it thank god) . I have a good Brother, he was upset about the Tablet he got me new for my Birthday it did that and also glad it going to get replace. He still wants me to help me buy a new one, when they are on sale on there store right now :) Heck he was the one that pick it out and I love it. So for the time being I am stuck using my very first Tablet I got Star G430S, I am so not use to the tiny space while drawing with it (I also lave the space because it so small ^^'''). BTW great video on it :)
Thank you! after several other videos and text reviews.. This one convinced me to finally buy it! this conclusion from a trusted hardware reviewer... well, I'm going to give it a try! yeeey! :D
Is it true that this tablet doesn't pick up very light pressured stokes as well as Walcom tablets do? Is it true that this tablet leaves very small "hooks" at the end of thin lined strokes? I might buy the Intuos Pro Instead.
I'm really liking that dual-wheel thingy, I'd set up one for brush sizes and the other for canvas rotation. The best thing is that you even get 8 hotkeys and that dual-wheel on the Deco Pro S, which is something Wacom never do on their smaller sized tablets. The Intuos Pro S only has 6 ExpressKeys instead of the usual 8 and single function Touch Ring compared to multi-function Touch Ring on the Intuos Pro M and L, and the Cintiq/Cintiq Pro 13 and 16 only have hotkeys and Touch Ring functionalities on the ExpressKeys Remote that is sold separately (XP-Pen's Artist Pro comes with 8 hotkeys and a dial ON ALL TABLET SIZES!). At this point, I think the only good reason to get a Wacom is for the premium feel and look of their tablets instead of ergonomics. Glad that XP-Pen and Huion are here to bring some competition to Wacom, and maybe put them back on track.
I'm having a really hard time deciding between Deco Pro and 01. I'll admit that the dial seems awesome and the pen appears slightly more comfortable. The tilt is a bonus too I guess. But what honestly throws me off is just the proportions between the length and width. It just seems to be made for phone screens rather than computer screens. I should be just fine with either, but like I said; I'm having difficulties in deciding which one to buy. All opinions are welcome, and thanks for the review :)
This is way better than 01 imo, the wheel is super useful, it looks great, pen has tilt and eraser, only advantage of 01 imo is that the overall dimensions are a bit smaller.
Hi, my deco pro came last night and everything works perfectly only problem is... that eye dropper key. You guys may know that whenever you use that key it would be instantly. Problem I’m having is :( i have to click on the color that I want I won’t select a color by it self... I don’t know how i will get use to blend with my new tablet... I need help...
huion has been getting a SHIT TON of attention from illustrators and designers, specially those with millions of followers (jazza), but i feel like xp-pen is the better alternative to wacom
Hi Brad, One simple question. I am planning to buy my first Pen Tablet. Could you please let me know which one you recommend? Deco Pro MW or the new Deco LW
Hey I got this since I want to draw more portably. Every time I draw circles in here it comes out as oblongs because my screen ratios different from the tablet, it's very jarring to me drawing because of that. How'd you got around the screen aspect ratio problem?
Hey Brad, I really enjoy your animations man. Which one do you think is the better option between this one and the Huion HS610? I'm looking to buy one of these as my first drawing tablet
I am not an expert and I know this is late but I think you should go for XP Pen. I've heard numerous stories about Huion's products breaking down after just a few months of use
Hey Brad, your channel rocks, big fan here! man I just tried this one with my Mac and it kinda sticks to the edge of the screen, latest driver, latest OS, and since you have a Macbook I wonder if you saw a behavior like that? Thanks beforehand and keep it up!
HELP: Hello, thank you very much I have a little bigger problem, and it is that I just bought the deo pro small and in the computer destined for this tablet when I install any driver the mouse (trackpad) is disabled, at first I thought it was the configuration (that is disabled when it detects another mouse), but when I connect any other usb mouse right there the trackpad returns and both work (trackpad and usb mouse) please help what can I do? because the idea is to use it with a laptop and not be carrying an additional mouse. Thank you so much
Do you know what is the conflict between the drivers with wacom's? I want this tablet to replace mi mouse, but at work i use a cintiq 12 wx (really old) , so i can't uninstall wacom's driver. I'd like to use both
Been going through your reviews of various tabs. Wanted to ask your opinion on deco pro versus deco 03? Which one would you recommend.. I gotta start drawingggg
Anyone know if this can be used with Adobe Premiere or Audition where the dial can be used for scrubbing through a track or tracks? That would be a deal sealer for me.
nice review. i got the deco 01 and work great ! and does the job. btw make sure to update the list you put on your site since then for screen tablet and such.... and i would love it if you make a comparsson with huion kamvas pro 16 vs xp pen 15 ( the new one) keep up the hard work
Hi all, only the Deco Pro and Star G640S can work with Android phone so far, including Deco Draw and third-party software. The Deco 01, Deco 02, Deco 03 can be used on Android, but they can only work with Deco Draw currently, only one program.
I can't seem to align the tablet with my laptop. For example, I create a circle in the middle of the tablet, however in the laptop the circle does not actually go in the middle. Hopefully I explained it in a somewhat understandable way. What do you propose?
I bought the Deco3 as a backup for my Intos Pro and the only drawback for me was the touch feature. I got used to have touch features, but not sure it's worth the price premium to pay extra for it again.
@@Doricotongo no, i saw where they could potentially conflict so i took off the Wacom after saving the settings. Installed XP driver then removed it as i went back to Wacom
Please compare this product with Wacom tablets. Or you can just reply to me with which is best to go? I am a beginner to tablets. SO. And also tell me about build quality.
I got this tablet as well , but i needed to send it back because by installing the drivers something went wrong and it did not work at all .. The wheel just got red and nothing helped. :/
Does this new pen work on the Xp pen 15.6 pro? I’ve had the pen for around 3 months now and the pen that came with the 15.6 pro now has a lose fit on the rubber grip and twists when I draw on the tablet... is there anyway to shrink the rubber grip? It seems to be pretty loose.
I've been thinking of buying a new tablet ( i have huion 610 v1, aka 2000 preassure and it sucks). But I really don't want those wavy straight lines they look really noticable to me. Any suggestion? I can only spend 200 -. Been hearing good things about huion 1080p and the deco 1. Can someone help me find something reliable? Almost every tablet review has something on the strokes i can't stand.
Hey Brad... what is with the natural wood desk top? Looks good! Different from most other tech reviews. Good stuff! And is that a 2015 or earlier MacBook Pro...??
On macos Mojave 10.14.6 the latest drivers just don't work..I tried on 3 different Macbooks for my testing. It works fine if the tablet area is selected as full wrt to the screen size..as soon as you change the tablet area...you will initially experience lag and if you keep the pen idle for few minutes and get back to drawing then the real problem starts...you will see the cursor will stop at certain coordinate of the screen and won't move at all!!.. I configured the trackpad to zoom in and zoom out and once the cursor was stuck i had to zoom in zoom out several times and then the cursor would move...its weird...even the tech support was unable to resolve the issue which simply means the testing of the latest driver for mac was not tested properly. The application I tested it on is photoshop cc 2018. A great tablet ruined by poor drivers and poor support!
Hi there! How do you know where you will end up drawing on the screen since you can't see the drawing that you physically making with the pen. How do you not accidentelly end up drawing far from where you intended? Also, do you by any chance know if there is a good and free drawing software that can be used? Thank you!
You get used to it over time. Also, most drawing software have a hovering cursor feature to help you not get completely lost. Hand-eye exercises and blind silhouette drawing are ways to improve your coordination with a screen-less tablet. Disclaimer: I don't own this specific tablet, but I've been using a similar Wacom product for over a decade.
For a Beginner who wants to use AI,PS,Corel Draw and Animation softwares which should be the ideal pen tablet to start with ??????? Primarily working with Desktop !!!!!!
So..THIS is the tablet i can use full screen on android? Previously i bought two tablets. One from xp pen.. and the second from huion. Both are different and can work on android..BUT every single time you want to work in landscape mode on android.. you can never use the full area of the tablet. Even if you turn the tablets sideways they dont adjust to whats on screen the tablets stay on Portrait by default. Can i use this one with both portrait AND landscape without a problem?
Hi. If you use Third-party Major Software in Android Mobile Device , it work on vertical screen mode by default. If you use Deco Draw(the drawing app we developed), it work on horizontal mode by default. :) Feel free email to service@xp-pen.com if more questions
My Thinkpad E590 only has the one USB-C port. Battery dies in 90 minutes 😢, so I would probably need some type of splitter/adapter to plug in this tablet AND charge my laptop 🤔 There are so many on Amazon. Can someone make a recommendation?
Hey Brad, thank you for your awesome reviews. Does this tablet have pen rotation too? It's been months since I started looking for non-wacom tablets with pen rotation feature and haven't found any.
It is because they do not exist. Anyone who wants to "paint" digitally, needs pen rotation, and interestingly literally all the reviews dont even touch the topic, what does that tell you, lol.
Pls review the XP Pen star 03 v2,thats the tablet that I bought for me as my first drawing tablet I've been drawing for awhile with my finger on my phone i just got a computer so i would appreciate it if you review it
how do you find the exact spot on which you will start to draw since it is screenless? In order to spot precisely, I need to have an indication where my pen is, right?
I wonder if xp-pen will be having some announcement about a large screen laminated display considering they already sent out the smaller one and huion pushed out a big one or did I miss something this year?
Hey guys I need help .I'm planning to buy either xp pen deco03 or deco pro medium and I'm getting them for more or less the same price . Which do you think is a better option ??
