Here's my review if the LECTRIC XP Trike. its a great trike but we had problems with it.

On this channel we test and review ebikes and accessories. Its our goal to help you find the perfect ebike. When we review an electric bike, we don't simply ride it once and make a video, we ride it for 50-100 miles to get familiar with all it has to offer, then we make a video. But we don't stop there, we will make follow up videos as we continue to ride.

My trike arrived in good shape except for some minor, easily fixed, bending of the fenders. I am 90 years old and found my first ride to be a bit of an adventure. My next ride went very well and I’m much more confident. I’ve ridden mostly around my somewhat hilly neighborhood which has streets with significant slopes from side to side. I’m enjoying my trike very much. At my age a trike makes much more sense than a bike.

I put a 52 tooth crankset and chainring on the Lectric XP Trike. Also set the tire diameter in the settings to 17" and smaller which increases the top speed significantly. I feel that my XP Trike is now a much better trike.

I also changed my tire size setting and using a GPS app on my phone I can get to 19 MPH.

@bluewolf4915 With the 52 tooth you can actually pedal to 19 mph. It's quite a speedy cadence at that speed but you can feel a lot of resistance still. With the 36 tooth chainring my rides were mostly throttle because the pedaling was so ridiculous. Now with the 52 tooth I am a pedaling fool 😆 Half my time is spent in my backyard Food Forest Garden 👍

I think a lot of the shipping problems come from the shipper. I watched the FedEx delivery guy rolling the box up my driveway. I quickly ran out to stop him and helped him carry it to my garage. It just had minimal damage to the fenders. Could have been a lot worse.

I have an izip electric trike and just love it. I’ve had it about 6 months now and have put on about 350 miles. Still just as tight and safe as the first day I rode it.

After watching this video and several other videos about this trike I feel compelled not to purchase this until they fix shipping issues and clear up some minor problems, one should not have to deal with issues that are already known by manufacturer.

Richard I just received two XP Trikes and the rear fenders on both trikes were damaged. I suggested to Lectric that if the trikes were shipped with the fenders unmounted that end users would be far more likely to receive the units with no damage. They advertise no assembly needed knowing full well that you’ll spend time replacing those fenders not to mention the hassle involved. Incidentally when I called Lectric they acted like this was a new issue. geez! Maybe they should watch the forums and RU-vid videos. 😊

Nice review. My wife really has enjoyed her trike so far. She has a new knee and had trouble with the XP 2.0 stepthrough bike feeling safe. Yes, it is slower than the 2 wheel ebike but she feels so much more confident and secure with the trike. We lucked out with fast shipping (one week after purchase). ---No damage and very fast set up. Big headlight, cool rear brake lites, great seat with backrest and the cargo basket pkg. included makes it a very practical exercise system.

We ordered 2 Lectric trikes. No problems with anything. Fenders had no problems. Packaging had no problems. Happy with both.

Thanks for the review. I just got mine and it had the same problem with damage to the fenders in shipping. I hadn’t thought about jacking it up and looking for a wobble.

I love my trike, already have 50 miles on it. I'm 68 years-old and it's easy to ride, easy to handle. I ride on grass, sand, gravel and paved roads. 😊

They had me return my trike to them and they sent me a new one do to my first one axle bearing went bad. My new trike got here with just a tiny dent on the rear right side fender. So far I've put 5 miles on it due to the weather. It's so far been great.

After shipping my 1st trike back to Lectric, due to the noisy bearing problem, I received another trike about 2 weeks later. The only issue with the 2nd trike was, both fenders were slightly bent. But, easily straightened by hand. After making sure everything was tight, and cleaning the grease from both disc brakes, and installing the accessories, I took it for about 9 miles worth of riding, over 2 evenings. So far, so good! For riding in the neighborhood, which is all I do, a top end of 12 MPH is all I need (or want). I'm 69, with low vision. So, anything much faster, would not be safe. This trike offers a pleasant riding experience for both my wife and I. She likes it, and feels comfortable while riding. I prefer to ride at dusk. To make myself much more visible, I use 3 Guardian angel Elite safety lights. One white strobe on the front, and two red strobes on the rear. They are excellent!

I just found your videos, you do such an amazing job in your review of the Lectric trike!! I’m tossed between the Lectric and the add motor city 310. I watched a video of that bike from you last night. I was wandering if you had done a comparison video of the 2 tofu?? I feel so fortunate to have found you on RU-vid!!! No excuse for so many problems! Crappy QC! Was seriously looking at buying one. Not now. Thank you for the honest review and information. Not like most of the propaganda reviews I've seen. Would be nice to see updates in a couple months to see if they have cleaned up their act.

I agree. Its shameful. I have heard from a few people that didn't have any problems at all. But way too many people do. Look for the review of the E-310 when it comes out in a few weeks. I think its going to be much better.

Another wonderful video! Thank you. I never saw an e-trike before I saw your earlier videos on these. For me, personally, I wouldn't feel safe on one of those. I don't like how easily they seem to tip. Two wheelers just seem so much safer. I'm so glad it's working for your wife though. I just found out from this video that the top speed isn't that fast so that probably makes them a bit safer than my what my initial impression was 😄

You may think 2 wheelers are safer unless you've lost your sense of balance due to 2 heart attacks. The Lectric trike got me back on the road again. It's a matter of riding technique not balance. You just need to learn when and how far to lean depending on road conditions. Took me about an hour to get comfortable on the trike.

The shipping damage is due to the shipping company ignoring the huge sign on top that says "This side up". The Fed Ex guy brought mine up on a dolly with one end up, ignoring the sign.

I agree that is part of the problem. But, when the fenders are rubbing up against the side of the box, your just asking for trouble. They should have packed it better.

First Trike came with just a little fender damage, Not sending it back or even crying about it. Second Trike came with wheel and axel damage, they sent a box with all the wrapping stuff. No tape and just a few zip ties. Took the photos and now we are waiting for the return slip for the package. You are so right, with all the damage claims packing it better is a NO BRAINER.

I have about 27 miles on my trike. I'm 69 and love it. I am mostly pedaling as I want the exercise, sometimes there is a sort of clunking sound and I feel it in the pedals. Any advice?

If its only when your pedaling, it may be something with the chain. Its a good idea to place something under the rear so that you can rotate the pedals and watch to see what's going on.

Wheel out-of-true is not bent axle. To determine whether the axle is bent, you need to shoot a video of teh close-up of the rear hub, spinning at high speed and look at the flanges of the hub. If the flanges are moving in ossollating planes, then you have a bend axle.

Thanks for the review of this trike I may get one. It looked like the Axle was straight but the wheel itself could be straighted at a bike shop. Adjusting the spokes is tricky.

Put a tall bottle of water next to your wheel when your spinning it on the Jack stand..... It will show the wobble mo better

We had the same type of problem with our Harvest Right Freeze Dryer. They have a reputation of not packaging their 3K to 5K freeze dryers sturdily enough to prevent them being damaged in shipping. They have to replace a lot of units but seem hesitant to make changes. I noticed on the Lectric website a lot of reviews complaining of receiving damaged trikes. I really want one of these trikes but am leery of getting back into the same type of situation that we had with Harvest Right. You do make it sound like they are responsive to your calls. I will follow along to see if you get your issues resolved before I make a purchase. Thank you for your honest review.

They sent a brake assembly within 5 days. The fenders are on back order but I have a receipt showing they processed the order to be filled when they get them in. Lastly, they are sending me two new rear wheels to correct the wobble. So, they seem to fix what is broke. Also, FYI, I purchased the bike and contacted support as a consumer, not a RU-vid influencer so I didn't get special treatment.

To my eye, the left wheel does not wobble. What I’m seeing is the tire is not centered on the rim, so the stripe is going up/down but not left/right. In general, good review. Lectric needs to step up the packaging, like a big block of foam behind the center frame.

If you use the parking brake levers, eventually they will break. I think the aluminum is too soft. Next are rear wheel bearings. I thought that I heard that earlier in the video, but it may be the throttle snapping closed. Keep an ear open for any cracking sound from either side in the rear. I have a crack about every rotation. If you lift the rear up a bit and gently tap each rear wheel on the ground, there should be no metallic banging sound. I checked all bolts and the basket. I pulled the suspect wheel and the thrust collar that held the bearing in and there is visible slop in it. The wheel on the other side is bent worse than yours. I tried to true it up by spoke adjustment but it's too bad. It's better but not acceptable. I think the packaging is fine. The way FedEx delivered it, I'm surprised there wasn't more damage! The box was held together with tape. I am in contact with Lectric about all of this but it is a slow process and lots of videos and pictures. On the good side, I do also have two Lectric XP 3.0 bikes and both are great. Mine has several hundred miles on it. So, I'm giving Lectric a chance here. I'll say this much. I'd rather pay $500 more and not be having the problems.

Your right about the brake levers being too soft. As for the bearing, Lectric told me to lubricate the chain. GO figure. I will check that and the tensioner tomorrow. I'm not sure when you started the process, I first reached out last week. They told me fenders by the end of this month and new wheels mid October. I am hearing a lot of stories about damaged rear ends. I think they need more packaging behind the wheel. We know FedEx is going to toss the box on any side and that seems to be the weak spot. We like the Trike a lot, so I'm giving them every opportunity as well. But, patients run thin after a while. Yeah, the extra $500 may be well worth it to prevent these problems. I'll find out in a few weeks. Thanks for sharing and for the tips.

I ride a bike behind my wife on her XP trike so I can easily catch up to her on the few occasions when we get separated by traffic, but not they other way around. It's hilly where we live. No issues with hills.

I have almost 2,700 miles on my trike. Daily I ride inclines and declines. Now it is making a very loud clanking sound and am suspecting the bearing is going out. Is it safe to ride with that noise?

It happens on a lot of bikes. As the brakes wear in some of that should go away. You could try braking hard about 15-20 times using mostly the front to get them seated in. Just be careful doing it.

Im a bike mechanic. Your left wheel is simply out of true. Not an axel issue. Any bike shop can true your wheel. Often machine built wheels need hand truing.

Joel, thanks for sharing. That is what I thought and asked Lectric, but they simply responded that they would send two new ones. They arrive today. Guess I'll have spares once I get them trued. I have been thinking about getting a truing stand since I have so many ebokes and get more in all the time. Do you have suggestions or tips what I should get? Prefer not the top of the line bike shops may use, but something decent. What should I look for?

I would like to say I have a trike as well. It is a manual trike. I have put a few miles on it. I had to get the brakes fixed on it and the whole tuneup of the bike but I have to say trikes are very fun even since I have no upper motor ability of my legs and upper body

Let the air out of the tire and reseat the bead properly on the rim... It may be a little out on the spokes too but spoke rims are always quick to shift on the first big bump you hit with a heavy person riding it... I watched the wheel rim and it wasn't moving that much, it's mostly in the tire seating to the rim... After you get it seated properly you can increase the air pressure a little to help keep the bead from shifting on the rim as easily, this is common to all spoked wheels when used with heavier loads... Simply put, heavier loads require a bit higher air pressure... No Offenses Intended!!!

I had rear fender damage, later I found I had a rear wheel out of true. So I made some adjustments & have it close. As for the rear brake it stops both rear wheels unless 1 is off the ground. Living in Calgary AB. In the river valley I have had no trouble with hills. I weigh close to 300 lbs & only use 4 & 5 on hills. The power draw doubles from 3 to 4 . So mostly using 3 I get 33 to 34 miles per charge.

Hi Natty. Well, I live in Florida so I don't have any experience in the cold. I do know batteries don't hold a charge as well, its advised that you don't leave them in the cold for storage, but out riding you would be fine. A trike would be safer in the snow, although I'm just not sure how well it will hold up to the wet. I hope someone else can respond that has more experience. @@nattyw495

I have just got the trike had hard time going forward without turning left. have run out of road three times. i seems to do better if i stand up. is this normal.

Does not sound normal to me. Is the frame bent? Is the front wheel on straight, is it seated into the drop outs (forks) correctly? What about the front tire, is it warped or bent? I would raise it up and give it a spin. Contact Lectric and see what they can do.

Both my rear fenders came damaged like yours on the right and I emailed them several times and sent pictures per their request and have yet to hear back from them, very disappointed in Lectric would think twice about purchasing from them again.

You can easily true those wheels on the bike to an acceptable trueness by using a ziptie as a guage on one of the fender braces.

I have seen that and was thinking about trying it. Just not sure if it s wheel problem or not. I took the wheel off and the axle has a very slight wobble to it.

@EbikeReviews I think my axle was also slightly bent but not enough that it was worth the hassle of exchange. I just tried the wheel as best I could. If it's not effecting the bearings I'm not going to worry about it.

that wheel wobble almost looks more like the wheel is loose more than a bent axle. I would think a bent axle to that degree would be rubbing the axle tube or you would be hearing some kind of noise from the differential. The axle is a straight pipe so think about the range of motion occurring at both ends during that wobble if it wasn't straight.

Go to p22 and unlock it when you go on there it says 0 change it to 1 and your good to go

Well you have to remember, this is just my experience. We know a lot of others have had problmes too. But, I have heard from a few that said they didn't have any. What's important is to expect these issues and be prepared to work thru them. Fenders are easy to replace if necessary, clean the disk before riding it, hope you don't get a bent axle... because aside from that, we are enjoying the trike.

Your trike doesn't have a bent axle. Take your trike to a bike shop and have your wheel true. They do that by adjusting the spokes

I asked Lectric about that first, they chose to send two new wheels. Less wobble now, but still has it.

the brake lever snapped?? That’s dangerous 😮 the wheel is probably out of true and the spokes need adjusting. If the axle was bent i think it would be more than a slight lateral wobble. I bet it got banged up and some spokes are loose. The only way the axle is bent is if the bike shipped with the wheels on and they dropped it several feet or something really abusive

This trike ships fully assembled so yeah the wheels are on. Both fenders were smashed against the tires so it took a bit of a beating.

Possibly, but we will probably just keep him in the Toby-trailer. Jack The Cat however, may go back there in his carrier. Its been too hot so we haven't tried it yet.

Oh, I'd love to see you give Toby a ride in his trailor. I am looking to get an e-trike (reason I am watching video reviews). My dog is 40# so need a trailer for her. I love the fat tire bikes because I live in Vermont and even our sidewalks are rough. Plus there are hills so need a little more power than some bikes have. Also have hand issues, and I'm small, so learning as much as I can so I order the right bike 1st time around. I don't have a handiman to fix the factory boo-boos for me. @@EbikeReviews

Smaller is better. The larger trikes are just clunky to ride and to handle. There are only a few smaller trikes on the market. The Lectric XP, RAD Power Bikes and next Month the Addmotor e-310. The E-310 looks to be the most promising. It has a large motor with HUGE power to get up hills. I have one on order, but wont get it until September. I watched someone assemble the XP Trike and it say in the instructions to clean the brake rotors with alcohol.

We have the trike and travel with it in our rear cargo area in order for it to fit the rear wheels have to be removed. This last time our hardware bolts and the key way were misplaced or lost and left behind I’ve been trying to purchase extra hardware the bolts and the key way required for the rear wheels. Spoke with customer service and I’m told they don’t sell spare parts. REALLY? That’s very disappointing might just as well have bought a different China bike from Amazon that you can’t get replacement parts for and no bike shop will work on or have parts for.

Are you missing both keys and both bolts? Do you have a solution? I can't believe Lectic wont sell you the parts, or even the entire wheel set. People have accidents they break stuff and they won't help? Shameful.

That is correct they refused to sell me replacement because we purchased on marketplace. They want me to get back into contact with original owner and get a order number. Both bolts both washers both axle keyways

I have good news and bad news for you. My trike came with wobbly wheels so Lectric sent two new ones. In each box are extra key and bolt. So with so many etrikes being damaged, I am sure others have received new wheels therefore will have extra key/bolts. I only installed one wheel, but the little package with the key and bolt must have been thrown away. I can't find it. But, I have one left. I don't have a need to remove my wheels so I will probably never loose mine. I can mail it to you. Plus, I am happy to make a request to the community if you want me to, so we can try to find another one. Let me know. @@jbone3212

Well I thank you very much for your help and your offer I really appreciate you taking the time to respond and willingness to help. Today I was able to get the bolts needed and the key way from my local hardware store. The bolts are M10-1.50/35,keyway was I believe 1/4x1/4-6” stock steel I cut into 3” pieces it’s not perfect but it fits and the special washers could not be sourced so I settled with some large standard washers also could not get the 1-1/4 rubber plugs for the end no big deal since we take the wheels on off so often. All together I think the final cost was around $15 so no big deal. The worse part was the lack of support and specs from the manufacturer’s customer service department. It is back together now and my family and I were able to get out and ride again. The trike really is pure joy to ride. Lectric has always been helpful in the past with any of my other need’s with our other bikes. So possibly this model shipping issues and the 3.0 models recalls have really put a whammy on them down there.

Ugh, it sounds fine in the editing software, and do notice it the volume is lower in the video. Not sure why that happened. I have a few other videos too where the volume is all jacked up once I upload the video to RU-vid. Thanks for letting me know, I am not sure I can do much about it. I don't like that the throttle is controlled by the PAS. I would want full throttle no matter what PAS I'm in, just like my Magicycle Ocelot. Since this trike only has one gear why didn't they use belts instead of chains!

55 miles in PAS 1, so if you want to go super slow, sure. But I prefer to go a little faster as its designed. Plus I like long rides. So 14ah is a little small.

I wish I didn't have to write this review. These Lectric XP trikes are cheaply built junk in our view. I bought two of them in July of 2023, by October both bikes have a bad axle bearing on the rear. This is with only neighborhood rides and no speed above 2. total miles on one is 117 and on the other 102. this bearing is not repairable and Lectric e-bikes said to send them back for repair. We live over a thousand miles away. They refused any help with shop manuals or tech support, just send them back. We have the bikes setting in our garage if anyone wishes to verify. Sorry. Garbage lectric quality design. Problematic. Very cheap and cheaply made. U are not broke. Dont get lectric eBIKES. They are garbage Get Addmotor trikes. Supervisor supervisor supervisor. I have Adotor M 340. LOOK at Addmotor E310 trike. Like a Porsche compared to a Hyundai.

The bike I was supposed to take broke, got the part late, so I put it on hold. I am going to complete it, just don't have a new date yet. It may be after the holidays, so January/February.
