Thank you, very well done. I also like your comments. I ‘d just wait a little bit longer when the camera ID is revealed. Instead of stopping the video every time it would be nice to have the time to recognise the phone and then proceeded while your video is still running.
This is indeed very true. But it also reflects the expectation of regular users over how a phone camera should perform. For me personally as an amateur photographer, I couldn't admire enough how natural and realistic Sony phones have given.
Was roaming around in the same area with a slightly older gen ‘mystery phone’ lately. It’s a pity we’ve missed. Nice shots showing the great leap Sony did. Hope they get their deserved appreciation from reviewers and sales. Liked mostly the Sony “auto” or Mystery pics. Mystery’s yellow tint sometimes is simply wrong but they are often great at challenging daylight situations. Sony’s auto is remarkably good now in similar conditions. Also, great compact documentary format.
I didn't always like the sony Xperia VI but for most of them it was my favourite in auto mode. Thanks for sharing this 🙏. I'm certainly considering buying it
Great video, appreciate your time and effort getting up so early! I have not had an Xperia since the mark 2, I just needed a bit software enhancement as I have DSLRs, I bought the Huawei P60 pro, but this does look like a massive step in the right direction for Sony 👍
Thanks for the great video, im impressed by the Sony. Excited for Bokeh mode pictures and macro shots as well as more zoom shots compared to other flagships.
Nice video! I appreciate your work, it's the same thing every year when Sony launch their flagship phone, they have the most natural images, like their tv's, normally. Proud to be Sony fan.
BTW, just wanted to mention this, I think Android OEM should start focusing on video quality starting next year to the point that we can't even tell it came from a smartphone phone, that would be awesome
Great Review, I like seeing the Xperia in the hands of a professional. This is what the Xperia is all about. I may end up getting the Mk6 but my Mk5 is still very good. Im most curious to see how the 6 runs Warzone Mobile with that VRR screen. I really hope Sony releases an Xperia Stream designed for the Mk6. I just ordered one for my Mk5 and i think that Snapdragon 8 gen 3 could be a Beast of a chipset for mobile gaming. If you can run some tests of the Mk6 at 120fps on Warzone, that would get a TON of views. We would love to see what Activisions collaboration with xperia is all about.
Very interesting video thanks ! 90% I chose Xperia Automode and 10% your Pro Mode and I’m really surprised that the mystery phone was an iPhone 15 pro max
14mins in.....the photos on the experia is starting to look abit off....the mystery phone seem to do abit well with details....17 mins....the bridge looks great on the experia...perfect
Why did Sony not upgrade their sensors. They are quite old. Exmor T is superseeded by LYT T sensors that are better than the 888. Not even talking about the abysmal sensor size and age for the tele and ultrawide.
100% ..... I didn't go for the 1 V as I was sure they'd upgrade the sensors in the 1 VI (being 2024), but they've just plodded along with the same old. No more Xperia for me!!!
The colour science of the iPhone caught my attention in the beginning which made me lean towards it. But what really gave it away was when you checked the time on your Apple Watch. From then I knew I was right
I said about Xperia V that it is almost there because of the inconsistent wide and tele sensors, the average brightness and the support. The Xperia VI looks like a feature/future packed device (good cameras, the only full music/media top device, better UI, etc.) with an average display for the price.2k or variable was the way to go.The only believe that I have without viable arguments is that maybe this fall we will have a PRO device that will be very hard to get because from what it looks it will surpass the 1400-1500 price range.
Hello, I watched 43 Xperia 1 VI videos. Why has no one continuously zoomed from 0 mm to 170 mm in video mode? I'm very curious about the lens transitions, are they smooth or choppy?
Vivo 100 Ultra would be better because of better zoom sensors. Xperia 1 vi is still using the same tiny 1/3.5 inch sensor from 6 years generation ago. Even though it can now zoom to 170mm, the pictures are blur and usable. Only the Xperia 1 vi 24mm main camera is good
Please help us here.....recent updates on my 1 v has updated the algorithm on auto shooting...however I was trying the macro lense photography after the update I found some improvements on 3.5 close in photography in macro mode. Have you found the latest updates from Sony have enhanced the camera set up on the 1 5 ?
the PRO and Auto mode results are not consistent across the situations! so i was guessing wrong a lot! The Auto mode is actually very good i think, but not always.
Super video and really appreciate the time and effort you made here. It's definitely something you should do again 👏👏👍 For me, however, as a Sony 1V, I felt Sony went sideways on the camera and downgraded on the phone in all aspects. Losing the 4K display was a bad choice along with the aspect ratio of the size of the phone and then not reducing the price to reflect these downgrades. But that I guess is another story in itself. As per the photos, they were some I felt were terrible on the Sony and some medicore and the odd one that stood out. Please don't let that put you off from doing these again in the future. Thanks 👍
That's still being worked on...I think they normally launch their devices a bit later so they can iron out these kinds of things. But this time the launch date is just a couple of weeks away.
My primary judging criteria was details and sharpness. Other things can be managed through a quick edit. And the mystery phone was the best most of the time.
I think the pictures that have ”blown” highlight detail look better. The modern smartphone hdr look just appears unnatural to me. I much prefer the more dramatic look of the pro mode
Haven't finished watching the video but its very obvious the mystery camera is an Iphone, only iPhones make pictures yellow 😂 i wouldn't say its bad its mostly good and bad
Great tests with details. My favorite is your voice tho. :-) Xperia seems showing ‘close to real’ feel. And iPhone Pro showing desirables. I believe almost all users modify their result. So, great detail might be the most matter. personally, most matter of picture is the focal lengths. in terms of what close to what i see feeling, phone cameras can’t really capable of it. Hopefully AI can fix it later on. tho it would be more likely 3D rendering not really photo. thanks again.
@@kujtimzymeri3358 Sony is never been better, and sorry to break for you, Sony is the only one that sucks from all brands, and sorry to break the spirit for Sony, but that's how it is. They are ranked most lowest point of all brands rn Just hoped that things will going to change, hopefully. Maybe will, but not now. And except for Motorola and other low-brands, they are just trash
It's a blind camera test. So the positions change in each photo. The idea is decide for yourself which looks the best before seeing which phone / mode was used.
I've never really understood this smartphone camera obsession with HDR. A night photo should retain some detail, yes, but it SHOULD be dark. Capturing the accurate "mood" of the scene is a much better pedigree than capturing as much textural detail as possible, at the expense of any contrast that may be in the scene.
The iPhone generally tends to produce warm results and a bit over-sharpened. The skin color is a really noticeable difference and looks much better on Sony and more like a real camera.
i'm about 6 mins in the video...i'm veru sure the mystery phone is an iphone. I do recognized the way iphone captures details and the way it handle colours for most of the iphones starting with iphone 6s up to the latest.... i know cos i pay attention to the pixels on a phone more often than i care about the pictures that come out.... and i feel one of them must be a real sony camera.... but the slightly exposed areas can be edited on the fly... the experia seem to handle details and stability slgithly better than the other two and it litterally takes in nearly the right amount of light which is quiet rare for a phone camera as compared to how much light the physical eye on a human being takes in....
Good to see a review with good photography focus. Sony is certainly stepping out of the mould, headphone socket and SD card, max props. Plus top camera and the other abilities. Ironic that actual innovation is keeping some things 🤣
I chose Pro Mode for all but two images, both of which were the mystery phone. Does this mean that the Xperia would not be a good choice for me as a point and shoot device?
I really like Xperia series. So far I broke my 1 mk V and got a Pro I because US doesn't have the 1 VI. How is 1 VI sell in UK I wonder. I really like Sony to profit to continue this lineup.
Photo quality as good as always, which means not good enough. No matter how advanced the sensor, no matter how much processing power is available, no matter how many Sony Photo Engineers help, Xperia phones simple can't learn how to do "dynamic range".
