No, it's basically the Iphone 15 pro or pro max. The new camera controll is useless, it's completely wrong positioning. Apple is really rushing phones out now. This is the second year we get a useless button.
I was going to, but I feel a little underwhelmed to be honest, mostly because it doesn't yet ship with Apple Intelligence, so I'm going to hang on until the feature has been released here in the UK, though with that not being for another 3 or 4 months, I feel like I might as well hang on for the 17 Pro to be released at that point.
It's hard to get excited about some phones nowadays. The Pixel Fold, the ZFold, and others from China that we cannot use here are the ones that really hyped people up. Unfortunately, the iPhone is dimming out here.
It's all about refinement at this point. The days of big hardware jumps are long behind us. Same for Samsung, and all the rest. Personally I like the incremental changes, the days of changing a phone every year are no longer necessary
@@mattdanyliw9121 The battery was really the only thing I disliked. It’s charged fast but carrying a portable battery bigger than my phone was pointless
seriously? i switched from a 13 Pro to a 16 Pro .. and honestly. Its more or less the same. USB C, always on - ok cool. But everything else is more or less the same (performance the same, pictures - lets be honest - with no site by site comparison - no chance to distinguish. I was aware of that - only reason to upgrade for me was the "family circle" - so my dad needed a new phone etc. But getting a "huge jump" - nope.
@@Chris-w9m8e yk there’s a difference between a 13 and a 13 pro? I’m enjoying the much bigger screen, 120hz, much better picture quality I tested side by side, apple intelligence is coming next month, also much slimmer bezels, better mic’s, better speakers.(edit: much better build quality)
I went from a 14 Pro Max to a 16 Pro, the difference in battery life is a culture shock. It's not bad per se, it's just not what I'm used to coming from the bigger phones.
Well, it's wonderful in my home country, AUSTRALIA - the citizens are all very humble, religious and respectful folk. Oh, and incidentally, pigs can fly.🤪
I have that same gold 11 pro max and thought the same about the colour of the 16 pro max it’s very similar. I am a bit underwhelmed by this years iPhones but think I’m going to upgrade this year just because of timing
The base model iPhones this year are far more feature rich and capable than previous years devices and for the majority of people it's the one to get, especially in teal.
Loving the battery life on my 16 Pro Max.. have the same feeling about the camera control button… meh… but I really like how you can disable it completely or set it to double click as yes, even I accidentally triggered it a few times!! BTW.. awesome video 🤎🤎🤎
Would love a video of this vs other non conventional camera phones. Such as the magic 6 pro and Xiaomi 14 ultra. Everyone does Samsung vs pixel for the masses so it would be cool to see it vs what China offers.
The iPhone camera is so good that it is really hard to make it better these days. The pictures coming from the iPhone are consistently sharper and more detailed compared to the competition due to having superior file size which allows them to make the default photos up to 24MP. This is something other companies still struggle with
S24 probably better value than the Iphone 16 and especially obviously the S25 base model. As for the Pros, it's a good size and probably worth upgrading to from an older iPhone.
I’m returning my 16 Pro and sticking with the 11 Pro for another year. After five generations, I was simply meh about the 16 Pro…it just does some things slightly better. The only real improvement I noticed was the higher refresh rate, so I’ll wait for the base model 17 instead.
I got a 16 Pro to replace a 12 Pro. Its feels like a pretty solid upgrade. I think I'm only really going to notice the difference with the screen with I have them side by side. I appreciate the better camera and dropping lightning is also a plus. Not sure about the camera button yet. It works quite well for what it is and its in a pretty good position for me to take pictures one handed in both landscape and portrait. But I'm not sure if its really better than using the touchscreen. Unless I find myself badly wanting an even larger screen or more storage (and if the battery holds up), its hard to imagine wanting another one inside of 5 years
Every single year: hey, I wasn’t expecting much from this year’s refresh, but oh I was pleasantly surprised! Sure. We’ve been into majorly diminishing returns for new features for yearly updates for many years now, which is fine of course considering where smartphone as a device category is. It’s matured.
Yes and no. It is better because refinements but not significant enough to warrant an upgrade. If you have the 15, stick with it and wait for the 17 series.
If you use a third party software like iMazing, it will give you the battery capacity of an iPhone. It says the design capacity for the 16 Pro Max is 4630 ma. Some sources claim it is 4685 ma. Apple always seems to give you a little more battery capacity than stated so that it shows 100% battery health for a longer time as it degrades. My new 16 Pro Max is showing an effective total capacity of 4837 ma, which is 104.5% of the rated design capacity. Same thing happened with my 14 Pro Max and the battery health was still at 100% after 2 years and careful charging to about 80%. So its not surprising why people are getting really long battery life with the 16 Pro Max.
I upgraded from the 14PMN to the 16PM. Only because I got screwed on upgrading after some things happened. The 16PM is much lighter than my 14 and I didn't think the bezels would make much difference but it "feels" a lot bigger. I would say any of the 3 would be an upgrade for you. I would say to go to 15 or 16 though because of USB-C. I didn't mind having both chargers but now only one cord is nice.
@@hannahgibbons7436 Most people I know have been wanting USB-C on iPhone for years now lol. This person is obviously upgrading and IMO if you are set on any of the 3 than 15 and 16 are deff worth it for USB-C alone depending on what most of your electronics are. Most of apple is USB-C now as well. That is a very big influence for alot of people and others just dont care.
Can you also connect the new magsafe charger to a non apple brick with 30W ore more Watts to get the 25W charging speed? Or does it need to be apples charger?
Interested in the comments about the cameras. I (largely) dumped my DSLR a few years ago in favour of iPhone cameras. Currently I’m using a 14 Pro Max. Very undecided about whether to upgrade or not.
Wait, not trying to be confrontational- I’m genuinely curious. Can someone reply and tell me where Apple released the stat about the percentage of people who used the action button for the camera? I’ve been all around this launch between videos and articles and haven’t seen this posted anywhere. You won’t be able to post a link, but even google searching has turned up nothing.
@@Thetechchap It will be for something else. It does not have such functions as the camera button and position. If you just take phone out of pocket and make fast picture from ground without even look its easier with camera button 😃
There's no doubt this is a great phone in its own right. but it's now boring and lacklustre. I have the 16 pro max but would rather use my one plus open.
I bought the desert gold and was disappointed in the color. I was expecting by the apple event it would have a bit more orange look…. It’s just the same as the old gold lol
Hey, I have a question about the photos and camera. What is "PRO raw graded". Is this setting on the phone or does this mean the photo was edited on a photo editing software?
"PRO RAW Graded" refers to images captured in Apple's ProRAW format that have been color graded or edited. ProRAW is a format available on certain iPhone models (including the iPhone 16 Pro) that captures more data than standard formats like JPEG or HEIC, offering greater flexibility for editing, especially with exposure, color, and dynamic range. In this case, "graded" suggests that the photo has been processed or edited-likely using a tool like Apple's Photos app or a third-party editing software such as Adobe Lightroom. The RAW format allows more extensive adjustments without losing quality, and "graded" means the image has been enhanced after being captured, either for better color, tone, or style. If "PRO RAW" is enabled on the phone, the photo was likely captured in this format and then edited, either automatically by the device or manually in editing software.
And yet they still have 12 G internal memory, which is absolutely insanity. Expect to continue to see the usual nonsense like apps swapping out in the background, and just wait until apple AI kicks in. I fail to understand why Apple continues to do this other than leaving room for the next version to sell. Your battery comparison is invalid as you are using older used batteries in the comparison subjects.
nothing has changed between 11 PM and 16 PM except bigger battery, bigger display, faster cheap, better cameras, the built and yeah... camera control! Some people expect iphones to cure cancer by now 😂😅
@Thetechchap i understand, but it only shows how good Apple's OS support is, which is a really good thing, but you can't compare these 2 phones together 😅 they are completely different. I'm actually happy that i know, even if i decide to keep my iPhone 16 PM for 3,4, or even 5 years, i'd still get the same updates that new iPhones will get 🙏
It was 3D Touch(no vibration haptic) pressure sensitive and much better than long press that replaced it. I think the ability to take a photo with the same grip position you pulled the phone out of your pocket will become irreplaceable on its own. The camera controls may be refined to become irreplaceable like a 1 finger slow constant complete zoom in or out in Video, would be amazing.
@@ThetechchapTom, U.S. here. I follow a number of tech channels, but you are the only Brit I follow, principally for your expertise; but also for your accent and good looks! 🇺🇸🇬🇧
I ditched the 15pro for the S24 ultra about 3 weeks ago, and it's a superb phone but the face recognition stinks and the fingerprint sensor acts up all the time. If you have dry fingers good luck, if the display isn't clean good luck. I can't tell you how many times I have try to get it to recognize my finger to get into the phone. It frustrating as heck! 1200.00 for a phone and it may be traded in for the 16pro! Apples face ID just works all the time.
People that are buying iPhones are buying them for privacy and security. No Android phone will ever come close to the security and privacy on IOS, since Android is Open Source. Whoever has an idea of what that is, will choose iPhones all day long. Since you have no idea, you’ll choose an Android 😊
Expensive and overrated! They will still make iPhones every year and people will buy it like sheeps! I like cheap ones who can offer me what these expensive ones offering! Never spent more than 300$/€ on a phone
