Here are MAMI's and RINA's comments in English! "I too have parts of me that I don't like and parts that I feel are inferior to others. I have a lot of things that trouble me, But as I wrote the music for this song while watching the animation, my way of thinking about my strengths and quirks changed. Everyone has something that only they can do, and there is definitely someone out there who is seeking that. Those quirks of yours might be viewed as something wonderful by someone else. I think there are many people who are struggling with their feelings in that same way. It may not be easy, but it'd be wonderful to be a person who has the courage to think positively about themselves and come to love themselves little by little. That is the kind of person I want to be. It made me very happy that SCANDAL was offered the chance to have our music set to this theme. There are many feelings that overlap with both the XPICE story, us as a band, and us as individuals. Watching this animated short together with our song makes me cry. haha We have created a song that can give you strength when you're feeling defeated or want to look away. May both it and the animation reach people around the worldー!" (MAMI) ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "We got to collaborate with the XPICE team after receiving a passionate, fervent request from them. I'm so happy about that! We participated in this work starting from when it was in its early stages. While we were in a conference room hearing about the concept and the image they had for a song, pieces of the lyrics came floating into my mind one after another. Everyone showed such great energy with this work. We too were very excited. The characters in this animation are heroes battling while grappling with their own inferiorities. Having the kindness and strength to be able to coexist by accepting one's weakness and the differences between one's self and others-these are the heroes we need during this point in time. Since there is no dialogue, we wrote this song while keeping in mind the "lyrics" that convey the variety and message of this animation. Its title is 'SPICE.' I was able to straightforwardly give a reply to this straightforward story. P.S. We submitted this song last December. When the XPICE team sent a reply to us on the 25th saying, 'Thank you so much for the best Christmas present ever!', we went numb. I'm very happy to have collaborated with such a warm and exciting team." (RINA)
Here's our English translation of SCANDAL's song "SPICE" + romaji lyrics! 😊 You're still struggling To find who you truly are Even this sense of inferiority won't go away After all, it's a part of us It's all right Burn the resolve hidden in your heart You no longer want to run from your weakness Because you have something you want to protect You can smile and push forward again As you leap out of this confined world And think of someone, the tears that spill Are a spice that was concealed The more you speak The more you'll likely awake from this dream You don't want to justify everything You want everyone to understand That there's no one right answer It's all right Take on challenges as you lay yourself bare Make your sadness a weapon Let's fulfill our dreams we almost gave up on So that we can meet up here again and again We get stronger just as much as we've been hurt Let's keep running towards tomorrow Don't lose your own pride The spring breeze blows and wipes the tears away The seasons change You don't know how far you can go I don't know what I can do, but Because you have something you want to protect You can smile and push forward again As you leap out of this confined world And think of someone, the tears that spill Are the best spice -------------------------------------------------------------- Ima datte tesaguri no mama Hontou no "jibunrashisa" nante Kienai rettoukan sae mo Kekkyoku wa bokura no ichibu datte koto sa Daijoubu Mune ni himeta kakugo moyase Mou, yowasa kara nigetakunai Mamoritai mono ga tashika ni aru kara Mata waratte tsukisusunde yukerunda Tobidashite semai sekai kara Dareka wo omotte koboreochite yuku Namida wa kakushiteta supaisu Kotoba ni sureba suru hodo Yume kara samete shimaisou Subete wo seitouka shitain ja nai Seikai wa hitotsu ja nai tte Wakari aitai Daijoubu Mukidashi no sugata de idome Mou, kanashimi mo buki ni shite Akirame kaketa yume wo kanae ni yukou Nandodatte kono basho de aeru you ni Kizutsuita bun dake tsuyoku natte Ashita ni mukatte hashiri tsuzukeyou Nakusanaide kimi dake no puraido Harukaze ga fuite namida wo fuite Kisetsu ga kawatte yuku Dokomade yukeru ka nante wakaranai kedo Boku ni nani ga dekiru ka nante wakaranai kedo Mamoritai mono ga tashika ni aru kara Mata waratte tsukisusunde yukerunda Tobidashite semai sekai kara Dareka wo omotte koboreochite yuku Namida wa saikou no supaisu
I been listening to scandal since 2008 when they were wearing school girl uniforms I learned Japanese so one day I can converse with them in their native language I’m very proud with how far scandal has come I love them
Superb job by XFLAG Team, the animations and designs are beautiful. And what can I say about SCANDAL, this band has been making great songs for over a decade and is still on fire 🔥
It's a crime that this doesn't have more views by now 💀 Animation and music by SCANDAL is gorgeous, only thing missing is the surrounding hype from bigger outlets to promote it like Shelter a few years ago 😭
Thank you XFLAG for creating a really nice poignant video and SCANDAL for the great song. The combination is awesome. I hope you can do more things together.
@Anon 123456 Says the person who comments under every postive thing about the song. A person could say " Oh this song is great, I love it" and you'd be "no, this is crap" like what? lol no one ask you.
@Anon 123456 Yeah, but you make it seem like you're opinion is the all almighty correct and everyone should think so. No one cares if u like it or not, but stop planting "this song is baaaadd" idea into peoples head. And you did started by rebutting to every positive comment on the video, sorry I'm just stating the facts ;) plus you're the one with rose color glasses to think that every song from 2014 and below was a masterpiece like not all of them were. The only popular ones were anime related, fan service related, and big named artist related. There were mostly cookie cutter songs for little tweens and anime otakus, and Scandal grew out of that.
@Anon 123456 ..YOU'RE A SHUT IN FREAK who's just jealous that SCANDAL is famous world wide..wait a minute why are you so bitter towards Scandal?? 😮 Maybe in 2015 you auditioned to be a fifth member of the band and got rejected LOSER..haha.😇
@Anon 123456 I hope you realize their back then spurt of popularity back then was partly due to their crazy release schedule of having 3-4 singles plus an album a year which after 2014 has been 2 singles per year max and an album every 2 years(not counting SCANDAL since it's a best of album with only 2 new songs) and their back then large reliance on being promoted though anime songs. Let's not forget about the stupid school uniform gimmick which probably ended up attracting a huge portion of their male fanbase. Plus it's easy to pump out so much music when all you do is occasionally write some lyrics and then have someone else do all the composing and arrangement for you. And unlike a large part of the fanbase, I don't have such a hard on for "old SCANDAL" and much prefer their new stuff and barely listen to anything pre 2015 aside the obvious classics. I've been enjoying the music the girls have been writing and composing more than their old stuff. Their interviews have become a lot more enjoyably, when they talk about their thoughts behind the song, which aside from some lyrics, wasn't a thing, when 90% of their stuff was written for them and not actually their own sound. Aside from the songs that have stayed relevant, I think their new stuff is consistently better. Of course I won't like everything, in fact, I don't really care for Spice, it really just sounds like any other anime OP to me. And that's fine, people like different things, I don't expect to love every single release. That said, ales figures have become mostly irrelevant with digital and streaming becoming more and more of a popular choice even in japan. And yet, KFTD still managed being in the top 5 Oricon weekly upon release. What you describe as a drop in popularity due to their music is actually a result of them not working like crazy all year around, going to every single opportunity to appear on TV or have your song be an anime OP and trying to keep up with an insane release schedule. Haruna actually touches on that in the HW Documentary how she feels that they had worked really hard as a band in the 10 years prior and she thinks they can't continue doing it the same way for the next 10. I think they're very comfortable with where they are. The fact that they can still do world tours which is something not every Japanese artists can is amazing. I'm sorry that you think them taking a more laid back and creative approach is them becoming irrelevant.
@@dayzeandconfused1645 - Wasabi is a girl. 🙂 Her character design is fairly feminine compared to Red Pepper's, and during the livestream the band called her "Wasabi-chan." The "-chan" honorific is one that is often used for young women, and this holds true for SCANDAL as well: they always add it when speaking to/about a young woman.
@@SCANDALHEAVEN4 oh okay, I read a google translated description, and it describes Wasabi as a he lol I would have thought Google would have translate the proper pronoun lol
@@dayzeandconfused1645 - Pronouns are barely used in Japanese, and none are actually used in the description of this animation. Unfortunately, machine translators like Google Translate are imperfect and can insert unwanted words/incorrect pronouns and cause confusion like this, haha. So, what we're trying to say is that the description technically doesn't list any gender for Wasabi, but things like her feminine design (big eyes, eyelashes, rounder face, slimmer body) and the use of the "-chan" honorific help tell us that she's a girl. 🙂
Esto es increible, me encanto, la historia de la animanición ❤❤❤ me gusta mucho, la canción pripuesta por SCANDAL es muy buena actualmente puedo decir que es de mis favoritas todo en este video es increible y lo amo
@Anon 123456 you don't know that. As long as the fans still enjoy this it could be popular, and if they're still selling out tickets to concert, and new fans keep discovering them, they are still going to be popular and well known.
@Anon 123456 Or they could just stick to releasing music that they actually want to release? They don't "need" to revert, let them release whatever they want.
@Anon 123456 I mean, the vast majority of bands break up eventually so it's bound to happen. It's not a matter of "what works", if they're not releasing what they want to release then, what's the point? And if they release music that got them popular just because it's popular then it won't be the same, it'd feel insincere in a way.
@Anon 123456 Look, if you think that their latest music are bad nor not as good as they used to... That's completely fine. But connecting Popularity with Quality makes you look like a complete moron and thinking Sales are everything makes you look like a businessman who's disconnected from the world. (Especially when Sales can be easily manipulated) There's indie musicians who make great music but don't sell due to their lack of popularity While Mainstream musicians can literally release a pile of shit and still sell because they have a large fanbese (the larger the fanbase, the more sheep you'll have). Sure i'm aware that Scandal aren't as popular as they're used to but have you thought about using your brain for once and think that literally EVERYTHING will drop in popularity, everything (good or bad) will end at somepoint (and SCANDAL is no different) And again POPULARITY DOESN'T MEAN SHIT Where's PSY after Gangnam Style? Due to the popularity of that song, he tried to stick to the same style which ended him up in creating Gangnam Style clones (Daddy, Hangover) which failed pretty miserably and we don't hear much about him anymore. Same thing goes to Despactio, Where are Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee? Sure they might be still popular in Latin America but definitely not well known by the rest of the world.
