@@julianleft4662 interesting pov. but after ww2 even without the nuclear bombing of japan I think the world would be cautious of something on that scale again and for many reasons I don't think we'd have had ww3. What I do know is there have been several times where ww3 almost did occur because of the threat of nuclear attacks. and a ww3 now with nukes would have you wishing we'd fought 7 world wars with conventional weapons since 1945 because these creations aren't warfare they're existential extinction (given the reality of the number of bombs and the fact that M.A.D just means if you attack us we'll attack back knowing full well that's it for human civilisation as we know it). there is no defence for nukes. none.

A single night of firebombing raid killed and burned more people than the nukes had. This is the months before dropping the bomb. Japan still had no plans to surrender, in fact. The plan is to train their civilians and hope demoralized the allies ended the war (like vietnam) The japanese war mongers didn't care if cities/civilians died. It was only after dropping the bomb and lying about having hundreds more ready to go that the calls for surrender actually start to form Even then, within our own timeline. Some of the war mongers tried to make a coup and kidnap their emperor (equivalent of the Japanese people's god-emperor) to force him onto continuing the war. (Another reason why allies can't assassinate their leader. Imagine assassinating the equivalent of a God. This will just enrage the populace further into a Vietnam-like war) Now, why is there a disconnect between the God-emperor and the Japanese empire? (Well, it has always been like that. The powers of the emperor are more of a spiritual/political figurehead but real power is onto the military head)

@@topcraft2844 he was great in the movie, yeah. really really enjoyed his appearance in the hearing, and the final look that he and Oppie exchange. I loved how all the people that you expect might turn against Oppie (his wife Kitty whom he betrayed many times, his republican conservative college teacher friend Lawrence, Dr Hill with the binder that Oppie kept slapping out of his hands disrespectfully everytime they met, and Groves the red-blooded army general that didn't like his hesitation to drop the bombs) were the ones that stood up for him in the end, that was very powerful. And yeah that scene was edited in the trailer to cut out the F bomb, I think that's why it looks so weird there.
