This is a first look at the new xTool S1 40 watt diode laser engraver. It was provided to me by xTool free of charge but as you know that doesn't affect my opinion of items. It is my favorite diode machine ever. Very well implemented Safety, speed, power, Wi Fi with app, and software controlled air assist. xTool has some amazing introductory pricing and freebies during this presale period that will not be repeated so if it looks like a machine you want I would definitely pre order now.
Below are affiliate links that help support my channel with a small commission if used to buy a machine.
xTool is offering $200 off code for S1 purchases from 10/22 to 11/2 if you use my links
Use the exclusive discount code '200S1' on a S1 to enjoy a $200 off of purchases of $2000 or more.

Yes, the xTool S1 is simply a fine machine. Have him myself standing here and am really very happy.

It's a great machine for smaller projects that don't involve clear acrylic. Thanks for watching.

Thanks. I find most viewers only watch the first 6 minutes so I decided to show some capabilities up front this time. This is definitely the safest and easiest to use diode laser yet. Thanks for watching.

INCREDIBLE how affordable and sophisticated these machines have become for a homeowner! I know you will have so much fun with all your creative ideas. Wow, it is mind boggling how many things you could do with this machine! So many ways to make unique and thoughtful gifts. IDEAL for someone wanting to start a home business. I have still not finished fall clean-up and pray for some dry days ahead when I can get it all done. I have so many beds of bulbs to dig up, perennials and shrubs that all need work before winter sets in. Finally got a sunny day today after literally weeks of rain and dark gloom. Hope you're healing well from the eye surgeries.

XTool is the Apple of lasers. They just keep adding features no one else has and make them easier to use. My yard and garden is a total mess. Haven’t been able to do much with the lifting and bending restrictions the last 2 months so you can imagine the mess. I mowed slowly last week, it was a foot tall and wet so what a clumpy mess. Been moving more firewood up a small load at a time and baking lots of bread from fresh ground grains. They were logging at the neighbors and I got them to drop those 2 big dangerous dead ash in my yard so that's another mess for spring. My eye doctor's office just closed before my final appointment and cardiologist did the same with the local office so now it's off to Rochester for any medical care. Had some issues with the first eye that are under control now. Can't wait for a snow storm to hide the mess in the yard. Tomorrow it's supposed to be nice and hopefully I can get the garlic in. To top it off both new vehicles have a leak in the same front tire now. Nothing like the smell of bread cooking to keep you going. Hopefully you get many nice days to finish up. Thanks for watching.

@@unemployedredneckhillbilly2023 Wow Ed! Everything happens at once sometimes. I am just like you. I want to see the clean-up done because mess really bothers me a lot AND all I see is more work for the Spring when there is never enough time. I also have a Norway Maple near the house (at the end of its life) and I'm waiting for the pruner to come back and finish the job.This tree has been declining and was dangerous also at this point. People used to plant Norway Maples like crazy for shade but they're not the best yard tree. *Keep reminding yourself to cut yourself some slack. It takes time to recover from any surgery. Better to have a mess than compromise the healing process.* Oh, the smell of baking bread is like nectar from the gods. Better get yourself a couple new belts! LOL

Thanks, it has been a while. Should be all set with new glasses that allow me to do more computer work mid Nov. I have 20/20 far sight now in both eyes but the lenses destroyed my good close up vision so I am struggling with readers that aren't quite right. Thanks for watching.

@@unemployedredneckhillbilly2023Hi i am good thank you, I hope you are both keeping safe and well too, yes nothing here gone, yes, it looks like a very good machine, hopefully at some point, I’ll get some pennies from the UK, I’m probably be able to buy something, but I’m still waiting for the insurance company for the property to do something about my damaged roof from a storm which was nearly a year ago, plus I’ve now found I need to do a lot of pointing on the back part on my wall that goes down into the river, but again needs funds to be able to do it, over the past two weeks, I have been doing some wood turning, and made a large fruit bowl, and I have hand carved a tree of life on a wood cookie, about a half a meter in diameter, trying to do things to keep yourself busy, I look forward to seeing some more things from your new machine , it definitely looks a lot easier than the one before, I’ve actually been looking at a one infinity as well, stay safe, Phil from the moulin France.

It's funny how it grew on me with every new release. It's a very easy to use package that only works with the xTool machines. The app is pretty amazing and works jusy like creative space. I now like it better then lightburn for most projects and no setup required for a new machine. Thanks for watching.
@d6c10k4
@d6c10k4 11 месяцев назад
@@unemployedredneckhillbilly2023That's too bad. I haven't used lightburn a lot but find it frustrating, particularly when trying to set a work origin. I come from using CNC mills and am struggling to get it to locate the burn where I'm expecting it to go.
@unemployedredneckhillbilly2023
@unemployedredneckhillbilly2023 10 месяцев назад
There is a channel called the Louisiana Hobby Guy that has many good videos about lightburn covering things like that. Be sure to fire the laser at very low power when framing and run it slow. For critical locations I usually tape cardboard to the honeycomb and cut an outline, then center in that.

Thanks. The original one is still working great. This one is a newer chip with more memory but for lasers its hard to tell the difference. I was looking for a laptop but wanted a big screen so this setup was basically 1/2 the price of a 4k laptop for the new laser plus im going to buy vcarve for my cnc router that should run good on this. Thanks for watching.

Ed you might be spending my money again! I bought the Ortur Laser you featured 4 years ago and then a Longer Ray 10 watt. I have been happy with it. I am impressed with this Xtool though.😀🛫
@unemployedredneckhillbilly2023
@unemployedredneckhillbilly2023 10 месяцев назад
Sorry about that. You can't blame the Longer Ray on me😉. This is an amazing laser with great safety features and multi stage air assist. Xtool software has really come a long way lately and I really like using it with the current machines. There also is a stock feeder out now for longer projects and their rotary also fits it if you have a riser base. I think you will like it. It's a little pricey but that's. the cost of new technology. Almost as good as a Co2 without the maintenance issues if you don't need the capability to work with clear acrylic. I see smoe complaining about lack of camera but the simplicity of manually marking material location works better for me. Thanks for watching
@TheFalconJetDriver
@TheFalconJetDriver 10 месяцев назад
Thank you for the reply, when I first saw this Laser the lack of a camera was a real negative for me .After seeing how you can move the laser head to justify the material location that works for me.@@unemployedredneckhillbilly2023
@unemployedredneckhillbilly2023
@unemployedredneckhillbilly2023 10 месяцев назад
The people that complain about lack of a camera are the ones that don't want to make jigs for precision alignment and just want to toss items on the honeycomb. I have found with the p2 that the camera is close sometimes but far from perfect. The probe for focus is much more accurate then the p2 sensor and more relisble. I think xTool or an aftermarket company will eventually have a camera option to add. The accessory everyone should order with this machine is the new multistage auto air assist.

That's what I would think but laser machines are still selling like hotcakes according to my links. Many are buying them to start businesses and save on gifts. Right now with the pre order deals they aren't much more then a new phone. I think that will change if the stock markets start dropping due to reality. Thanks for watching.

Nice review. How would you position numerous small items to cut all over the place on previously used material that has area of available material using the 2-point system vs. a camera...sorry, you can't. Great laser handicapped by not having a camera, maybe forces you to purchase the more expensive P2?
@unemployedredneckhillbilly2023
@unemployedredneckhillbilly2023 10 месяцев назад
You could buy a P2 but that function doesn't work right all the time I have found. I would cut a cardboard template to drop the parts in for registration then locate the artwork in the cutouts and turn off the pockets in the artwork after cutting. Remember this is half the price of a P2 and I don't really see it needing a camera for 99% of the users if they think ahead while creating designs. Thanks for watching.
@I-LOVE-EARTH
@I-LOVE-EARTH 10 месяцев назад
If you are going to use a single piece of wood once, then I agree with you 100%. But if you are like a lot of crafters that has tons of used wood, a camera would help. I don't think the answer is buying a P2, the more realistic answer is for a plugin module camera that can connect to a USB port on the laser.@@unemployedredneckhillbilly2023

Hi what is the thickest it will cut on pine or ply?
@unemployedredneckhillbilly2023
@unemployedredneckhillbilly2023 5 месяцев назад
Depends on how many passes, cut quality, type of pine and glue in plywood. Up to about 10 mm gives a pretty clean cut.

I guess that I only watch for comments and emails about issues from my viewers that I know have purchased a machine. So far the only laser company I don't recommend due to support and quality issues is Atomstack. If you have an issue contact the person with the link you placed the order through and see if they can help you. Usually best to supply a short video of the issue with the support request.
