My eyes are light sensitive so the Xtra active lenses would be good for driving and walking/running/hiking/fishing, etc. The 7 would be good for just regular use.
I can see just fine with the xtraactive transions, Yes they are very much darker than the signature transtions. I bought them last week and just got them today, First day wearing xtraactive lenses even inside with the tent I can see just fine,
I'm starting to cry because I got the extra active. But, on the bright side, current glasses are just fine. My new ones will be ready later next week or so
Eric Harris Did you receive a certificate of authenticity with yours? I purchased the Transitions in grey from LensCrafters, but mine barely get dark in sunlight more like a light smokey color! Now I'm doubting I got real Transitions lenses and maybe their house brand...did not receive certificate as many people say they usually get. The Transitions 7 featured in this video look way darker than mine...
I got the opposite effect. When I return from outdoor with my xtractive lenses I can see pretty clearly indoor. When I had regular transitions it stayed dark for 5 minutes before I could see clearly.
So they darken extremely fast but then they pretty much stay dark forever even if you go inside. Plus their maximum is at its darkest at 23 Celsius, i.e. 90% absorption, while in the middle of tropical/subtropical/equatorial summer at temperatures closer to 35 Celsius they lose performance and only darken to a maximum of 80%. Yeah, I'll stick with actual sunglasses for outdoor use. It seems the state of photochromic lens technology is still crap. They all react to the wrong frequencies (UV instead of visible, which is why they suck anytime you're behind a glass pane), they don't get dark enough in summer (I prefer a 95% in the middle of summer myself) and they all react too slowly when you change your environment, by either darkening too slowly, lightening too slowly or both.
+d0nj03 Ye its trade offs all the way ....sunglasses are good for driving long distances but my eyes are rubbish ...hate swapping specs all the time . would really lilke that tech they have on the dreamliner jet where they the push a button to activate the tint on the windows ...that would be really cool
I work in the optical industry and wanted to know the exact same thing. I will try to find these semi rimless frames if still available. Big Eugene can find more info on the inside of the temples
