This guy is great! What an awesome, in-depth review! I just ordered Transitions lenses for the first time ever and went for the XtraActive. It’s nice to see (in detail) what I spent my money on. Loved this video! 👍
I’ve had both You can’t tell there’s a tint when you’re wearing the lenses indoors I prefer Xtra active, because they change faster than traditional transitions, AND they do not have to be exposed to direct sunlight to darken to a decent tint. I will never buy another pair of glasses (unless I have no choice) without Xtra active (unless they come out with something darker AND better)
Not even close. Easily the best information I have heard yet for light sensitive people. Insurance Inspector with major migraines due to light and reflections. I'm on your website and will be ordering today. "Now I can stop scaring people when I wear my sunglasses indoors" :-)
I'm glad I can help. Let me know if you have any questions when ordering. Also keep in min that the Transitions XTRAactve block up to 70% of harmful blue light emitted from today's electronic devices.
They are coming on very strong. Years ago the Transitions XTRAactive retained more color while indoors. Now they are practically clear like the regular Transitions Signature 7 series.
Can't wait to get my Xtractive lenses in brown with pink mirro from you.. They will look amazing in the Rayban frame I'm getting from you as well... Sooo excited to see the video on them as well !! I think Ive watched all you videos now .... Lol 😁
Nice you answered my question and the new ones that the answer to the first revealed. First thing first my glasses are new so I think all give them two weeks. Maybe three just to give plenty of time before judging. They are normal transition.
Since I made this video they have come out with the new Transitions XTRAactive with the flash mirrors, They come in 6 colors solver, gold, green, blue, red and pin. They are amazing!
Excellent Information, Thank you! Now my questions are: 1 - Which is better Crizal or Zeiss lenses ? 2 - Can be possible to get Transitions lenses Polarized ? This is to get the complete set of features in a single prescribed lenses: ( Transitions+Crizal or Zeiss+Polarized ) Could we get your analysis/observations about them, please? Thank you
I definitely prefer Essilor lenses with Crizal and Transitions add ons over the Zeiss lenses. Zeiss lenses are more expensive to me which means more expensive for you and I haven't seen where they're any better. Transitions and Crizal are owned by Essilor so you cannot get a Zeiss lens with Crizal or Transitions. Zeiss calls they self darkening lens Photofusion and then they have a few anti glare coatings. There is a Transitions lens that turns to polarized and it goes by the name Vantage. But it only turns 70% polarized, last I read. I've had a couple people who have liked it and a couple that said it didn't get dark enough. I think the technology is still new and they will work out the kinks and then everyone will be happy.
WOW! So great! By the way I need lenses and I want TRANSITIONS, but I use to go to bars and discothecs, I have question, what happend with TRANSITIONS with the lights in the bar or disco? Sometimes until there are blue lights and other kind, I don’t wanna my lenses get dark inside, sorry for my English, I'm from of mexico. Thanks a lot!
Transition lenses will only darken when exposed to direct sunlight. The disco would have to be outside or with no roof during the daytime only for the lenses to darken, but I doubt there are any disco's like that? Let me know if you have any more questions.
Its true. The industry has doe a study that 90% of people who get Transitions once they will get it again on their next pair. I have recently come out with my own brand called Christian Eyewear that have the cross on the outside of the temples and they come with a polarized magnetic clip on. You can see the Philippians 4:13 here: christianeyewear.com/product/philippians-413-dogwood-with-silver-crosses/ But I'm going to try the Transition Vantage with these. The Vantage will turn polarized grey when you go outside.
Absolutely. And better yet, Transitions lenses were the first blue light blocker before Crizal made Crizal Prevencia. Essilor owns Crizal and they created an anti glare coating to block the harmful blue light emitted from todays electronic devices such as cell phones, computer and TV screens. Crizal did that because not everyone gets Transitions. Here is what they dont want you to know, Transitions still blocks more harmful blue light than Crizal Prevencia. So yes, you can use these in front of a computer all day. And no they wont turn dark at a computer. they have to exposed to direct sunlight outside in order to Transition to dark.
That's usually an insurance add on. Most insurances will only pay for the most basic of features. And then the upgrades are out of pocket for you. The majority of my peers are commissioned based and they make their money by phrasing content to get you to pay out of pocket when possible.
Which lens brand uses a photochromic coating as opposed to photochromic lens material? Is the Transition brand just a short life coating? I have a pair of "Transition EXTRActive" lenses and the photochromic coating is peeling off like a bad case of dandruff. At least that is what the Eyecare center said they sold me.
All photochromic/ Transitions lenses are a laminate film across the front of the lens. It is not solid through the lens. I have never heard of it flaking off like dandruff? But thats not to say it couldn't happen, I personally have never seen that. Any chance that you could have cleaned them with Windex? The ammonia in Windex has know to do some cray things to lenses.
Would the XTRA active grey be too dark for working out inside of a gym or health club? I live in Louisiana where it is HOT so I may need the XTRA's...but if they are going to make it look too dark while working out inside the gym I may just go with the transitions...
Transitions XTRAactive are now a lot clearer indoors than they were years ago. But the new Transitions 8 get really dark now too so you have a new safe alternative that will work great also. And you have more colors to choose from with Transitions 8.
There are Zeiss PhotoFusion X Pro photochromic lenses that are super clear inside and when coming inside from outside they change back to clear super fast
This video is many years old. At the time of this video there was no Photochromic blue from Essilor. Transitions does make a Sapphire blue that is 80% gray and 20% blue. Zeiss makes the Photofusion blue, that my wife and I wear as our daily lenses, and they are an amazing blue color. There is no XTRActive blue from Essilor or Zeiss at the moment.
my transitions extra active lenses take up to eight minutes to turn back when I go indoors. is there something I have done wrong or is there something I can do to speed them up
I havent heard of any Essilor lens taking that long. I only use Essilor. I hear that Zeiss and Shamir now have their version of XTRAactive, Do you know which brand you have. The store you boght thm from wi be able to tell you.
Yes, 50 to 70% blue light protection built into the lenses. Photochromic lenses were the first blue light protection lenses on the market. No one knew about the effects of blue light when these first came out. Mostly because no one had cell phones or computers or jobs involving computers when these photochromic lenses were introduced. The challenge today is to match this level of protection in a clear lens because not ever gets photochromic lenses.
My guess would be 20%. But it will also get darker in hotter temperatures and will get 30 to 50% dark behind a windshield whereas the Gen 8 will not at all.
Hello I just got a new extra active transition lenses and I live in Florida and it gets hot here too I thought it would be a better lenses cause I'm outside alot When I went to order my lenses where I ordered from said they will not tint behind the windshield and when outside they look like my old lenses signature 7 but there like a mo new please help me ps slight tint in side the house And how long to get fully activated did you say. Thank you
Hello and thanks for your interest. Yes, I can do that for you. Can you take a picture of your prescription and email it to me at freeprescriptionlenses@gmail.com?
Transitions Vantage is a lens that starts clear and turns 70% into polarized sunglasses. It is still relatively new and they are still working the kinks out to try and make it darker. But as of now it does not get as dark as a true pair of polarized lenses. As the old saying goes,"when you \only do one thing you do it better than anything else."
It takes Transitions Signature 7 series or Transitions XTRAactive one minute to a minute and fifteen seconds to return back to its indoor clearest setting.
I'm guessing that they should change at the same speed. And I exposed them to a very strong burst of ultra violet light. Its much stronger than just going outside, if thats why they took longer.
You fail to mention a very important distinction here, is that Transitions XTRAactive work behind the windshield of a car, but regular transitions do not.
Next time you can try the Transitions XTRAactive. And if you wantto take it to the next level you can try the XTRAactive with the new style mirrors so that it will turn one of the six avaiable colors.
Perhaps the early ones did. The current ones change at the same time in my experience since I test every pair of Transitions Signature 7 and XTRAactive before they get shipped.
But of course. Just shipped to Dakar Senegal one hour ago. Here is what I do for international shipping because it seems to change with no rhyme or reason. I charge $35 up front and then when I do ship and if the price is less, because you will see what I was charged on the label, I will refund the difference from what I charged you. For example, I bill you $35 for shipping and it ends up being $24, I will refund you $11 back to your PayPal account. If it is any more than $35, I will not charge you any more. And that has happened too. Let me know if you have any more questions. Seemore
