With maybe the exception of Ratt at their early peak, none of those bands are close to being in Meneketti’s league. Not in vocals, guitar playing, or songwriting.
Y & T didn't have a catchy name. Seen them 3 times in concert, still sounds the same. One time Mike the Drummer had a Broken arm and played one handed, I know Rick Allen from Def Leppard plays one handed due to an accident but he has electronic help. I don't care for the bass player, too much theatrics.
No sheet he's 70 ??? I didn't know... That's amazing he sounds like he does.. Saw this local band a few times back in the day at a few small venues.. Good times..
@@markmiller3145 let me get this straight, those late 70's and early 80's albums were full of autotune ? Hmmmmm, and this live performance is autotuned , especially that part at 12:35 🤣
Ronnie James Dio was a big fan of Dave Meniketti - he said he was highly underrated as a vocalist and I couldn't agree more - great guitarist and those vocals still intact 50 years later - respect!
Growing up in the Bay Area, Y&T had a huge place in my musical life. My buddy and I rode motorcycles down to L.A. to watch a couple of shows in the early 80's and the opening band was Metallica! Was fortunate to see them both again at Day On The Green in '86. Lars and James were big fans, used to play Y&T at soundcheck, and it showed in their music. Mean Street's opening chromatic line was the basis for Master of Puppets and a few more musical cues show up in the first 2 'tallica albums. (Rescue Me/Fade to Black) For the past 40 years or so, I've made it a point to catch a Y&T show whenever they are in town and have never been disappointed. 🔥🔥🎸🎸🤘🤘🤘
Actually Y&T influenced my entire youth and probably is one of the main reasons to become a Drummer. I saw them supporting ACDC in Germany just released the Black Tiger Album. Thank u guys for teaching me how to Rock n Roll 👍
I saw DIO in Sacramento California back in the 1988, Whitesnake first front band, followed by Y&T then Dio. Whitesnake had bottles and whatever thrown at them, Y&T was cheered and Ronnie James Dio was fantastic. I lived near the Concord CA Pavillion and Y&T used to do a Halloween show every year! Miss the days, and they still rock! I believe it was the Holy Diver tour.
Saw these guys as Yesterday and Today at a keg Party, San Joaquin County Fairgrounds. Back when you could do that sort of thing and charge $5. Never forget it. Badass as ever.🤙
Had the priveledge of meeting these guys in Cardiff UK several years back. Legends all of them and extremely down to earth and approachable. I've seen them with Joey, Big Phill and Leonard Haze in years gone by at big festivals and yes its a travesty they never headlined these 50k to 70k gigs. Did they ever whinge and moan? Nope .. they just got on with it and rocked the shit out of everywhere they played. Happy to be up there picking up new fans along the way. I have to be honest, this line up is as good as any of them. Of course, there will be fans that dont like change but these changes were forced on them. Mike and John have been with Dave for well over 20yrs now and Aaron, whilst a relatively "newbie", is a great fit, rock solid and does exactly what he needs to do for the band. I for one am grateful that Dave is still here with us, over his health issues, still cutting it with first class singing and playing ability and this can only be done with first class muscians on stage with him. The line up has changed, but the songs remain and Dave is still absolutely smashing it. Love it .... cannot wait for Y&T to come back to Cardiff later this year. Im 58yrs old but I tell you what, I will be right down the front. Long may they continue as they are one of THE most honest, genuine and sincere rock bands on the planet. Period !! Enjoy them while you can ppl🤘🤘
I saw them play at a dive in Seattle back in 2016 I believe it was. Dave said “I want to apologize I’m not 100% right now as I’m getting over the flu.” Christ! If that wasn’t 100% I can’t even begin to imagine what 100% was. He sounded amazing! I’m glad he’s back and looking healthy. Hopefully he stays that way whether he’s playing or retired.
When others my age in those days were listening to Priest, Maiden, Quite Riot... I was listening to Y&T, Dokken, RATT, and Queensryche... mainly because I thought they were better bands. Dave still sounds great. Y&T rocks!
Wow!!!! I grew up with these guys. I am so happy for them. They sound amazing! Want to hear Lipstick and Leather. And Summertime Girls. So many memories......
God bless these guys. Caught them first time on the "Black Tiger" tour at the Country Club in Reseda, CA. Completely blown away and still amazed today. Dave is definately one of the greatest singers/song writers/guitartist ever. Rock In Peace Phil, Leonard and Joey
I booked there for college bands for RIP. Jim Rissmiller presents had we had the Detroit famous the Rockets and Australia Angels, UFO, of course Cheap Trick
Totally agree with you! Switzerland 🇨🇭 is a beautiful country. Myself and my wife were just there. She went to school 🏫 in Lugano. Tasis Preparatory. I wish Y&T played there while I was there.
Pride of the san francisco bay area. At one time the music scene out here kicked ass. I saw Y and T back in the eighties when I was a teenager. There shows rocked. To me Y and T will always be Dave Meneketti, Joey Alves, Phil Kennemore, and Leonard Haze, very underrated drummer. In their hay day they were better than poision, ratt, and motli crue. No gimmicks, just good old good time rock and roll. RIP Leonard and Phil. 🤘🏻✌🏼
When I was a kid Dave he would come to our house have dinner do my sister and then show me a couple of guitar licks out in the front room what a cool guy
I need to see Y&T before Dave can't do it. It's not the original band but they still kick ass.As long Dave sing it's Y&T. Makes me go to get my old Y&T casettes and listen to them. I still have them and sassette player 🤘
never did see them, but i'd sure as hell see them now!! WOW!! hey Motley Crue, this is how you keep a good band going.... Dave and Co. sound fantastic!! i'd be banging my head so hard
Dave and crew are phenomenal. I'm glad he's kept these 3 superstar musicians with him for quite a while. If you told me a ticket was $50 to see this band I'd pay $100. That tight and that solid.
These guys still rock - I saw them in the mid-80's at the Santa Clara County Fair in San Jose. Outdoor show and to this day it was one of the loudest shows that I ever attended. My ears were still ringing 2-3 days after the show.
The only knock I have about Y&T is they didn't put out more quality albums!!! Saw them in Brooklyn, NY in 1983 still have my stub. A great underrated BAND!!!
I seen Y&T opening for Ratt an Bon Jovi was the first act. Runaway was the only hut Bon Jovi had at the time. Dave even had a cast on hus arm and still played guitar! So underrated! Great show
Y & T was one of my first concerts as a teen. I instantly became a fan. My cover band opened for them about 2 decades later. I met Dave after the show and told him my life had now come full circle. He had his wife take a pic of us and I never know what happened with it. I want to meet him again and take a pic of my own! A highly underrated band!!!
