I recently bought an FT-65. I absolutely LOVE this radio! As soon as HRO gets more in stock, I'm buying a Second one. It is an AMZINGLY capable Radio for $90 Bucks!

Is the volume/power knob stiff? Like cannot be easily turn? I like HTs with stiff knobs because i often encounter bumping the knob to things and made the volume lower or higher

It's much stiffer than the Baofeng UV-5R.

Thanks for clarifying! While it has some learning curve I've really enjoyed this radio. Build quality IMO is very good, with solid feel to the body along with the buttons and knob. All that at a cost that didn't feel excessive to me.

Do i need a license to buy these ? Or just to use certain channels idk dont know anything bout these

You do not need a license to buy one of these, or use one to listen to the frequencies. You do need a license to transmit though

I am buying an FT65 and going to put a mobile whip antenna onto it via the SMA to antenna connection via the cable so i can use it on my mobility scooter..

@@HamRadioHobbyist i was going to get the FTM 3200 and make it a home base the same as my SW radio in my living room cupboard but that meant power supplies again ;. cables to the loft cables outside etc etc i cant walk very far now so erecting the telescopic 13m fishing pole every time i wanted to cable up the antenna etc is a no no, so onto the mobility scooter it is i'm going to put a bracket onto the bottom of my chair frame all i need to do is attach the mount to the bracket cable up to the FT and away i go.

I waited a year to upgrade the antenna on my FT-60, I’m not so sure it is any better….15” diamond

Handheld antennas are never gonna make much of a difference.

@@ironmatic1 yep I've got the ft65 and thought I would put on a larger antenna and it made zero difference accept now I couldn't carry it around comfortably.
