I have the FT-70D. I love the Yaesu build quality. I hate being forced to push and hold a button on the side to convert the VFO knob on top into an audio volume control knob. That's not a one handed operation. Even worse, I hate that there is no way to turn the radio off. OFF is a low power standby mode that leaves the receiver powered to listen for an RF wake up signal. I'll never use that feature and it drains the battery in less than two weeks so the radio is always dead when I want to use it. There is no way to disable this feature. My only option is to disconnect the battery and carry it in an insulated carry case. Most of the new Yaesu HTs are designed this way. I can charge a cheap Baofeng, toss in the glove box or ammo can in the back of my 4Runner and its lithium battery has more than half a charge a year later. That's why most of the Yaesu HTs are not good for EmComm. :-(
