I've been watching her for many years too, at least 17 years. Her cooking content is great & so is her personality and fashion sense! Before watching a new video I wonder what sort of crazy groovy outfit or hat she will have on that day.
My father brought home yakgwa to sweden from korea 15 years ago. And since then i have made these at least once a year since 2008. They are my favourites.
Thank you very much for your nice comments and messages as always! Love you all! ❤ I just finished Korean caption, so English and Korean captions are available. 영어, 한국어 자막 올렸어요!

Omo... Yakgwa.. I know this snack from korean drama since I'm a fan of it.. I always wonder how yakgwa tastes.. and now you share the recipe 😍😍 thanks for sharing Maangchi
Never knew much about my Korean background since I was adopted but by watching you I learn some facts and learned how to cook the food too. Been a fan since I was young
I'm Korean living in Australia. I never thought too much of this cookie when I was growing up because there were so many "more exciting modern snacks" in the supermarkets. I thoughts Yackgwa was "olden day stuff". But since I got married to an Aussie husband, we buy this often from Korean grocery stores, because my Aussie husband loves this. & Now my kids love it. I think it's better than other snacks that has so much food additives (colouring & flaver enhancers ...). I tried making it at home once because it's very expensive to buy in my area($6-7 Au/320g), but I failed so bad I said I'll never make it again. I thought, What a waste of so much of expensive ingredients, (rice flour, oil & syrup). But the way Mangchi made it seems so easy, I think I'll try making it again. My family's gonna love it.
I love how approachable you make these recipes! I’m always intimidated by cooking videos that have super fancy techniques or tools, but your videos are always friendly and easy to follow :)
Oh man, I love those cookies. They're addicting as well as very pretty. Whenever my parents go to the Korean supermarket which is sometimes, they will pick up a container. You're spot on when it came to it being juicy, as well as it having a slight crunch when biting into it. Right, it leaves your fingers slightly oily. Also, they're quite dence and heavy which I love. Keep up the content. 🇨🇦
My pregnant wife was watching Alchemy of Souls and this is Jang Uk's favourite snack. She asked me to make it for her because she's so craving for this. Thank you for the great and easy recipe! I pray for your health and wealth!
When i was visiting korea. We bought some famous honey biscuits on the market. It was sold everywhere there. I was so addicted. Now I'm looking for a good recipe to feed my cravings lol.
I have been waiting to see this recipe! I have missed these since I was a child in village outside of Daegu in Gyeongsang province, my mother used to make these with her sisters. Thank you Maangchi.
Saya melihat video @Maangchi sejak saya menikah dengan suami. Suamiku sangat menyukai makanan korea. Saya belajar dari Maangchi tentang apapun makanan korea. Bahkan saya sudah berkali-kali membuat kimchi. Dan suami saya sangat memuji masakan saya. Terima kasih, semoga sehat selalu. ❤salam santun dari Indonesia.
I can't believe I happened to be eating these right now when this video popped up!! Incredible coincidence!! And I love these!! Thank you so much, I can now make them myself 🥰❤
I’ve searched Korean blogs and found out they say you can use Makgeolli or Cheongju or just wine instead of Soju. But I never tried with these, and they also used Soju, so I’m not sure that work well. I can be wrong, but the reason you should use alcoholic drink is when you fry the dough, the alcohol evaporates and makes dough rise. For the best results, I recommend following Maangchi’s recipe. Let’s get Soju and make Yakgwa at home. 😊
Just found this channel and I love your energy! Love that I can see you cook and you teach us interesting facts about Korean culture and food.
Maangchi, these recipes always bring me lots of comfort 🙂 I love yakgwa so much, especially with a cup of hot tea! And these ones look so fresh 😑 잘 봤습니다 🙏

Let’s take a moment to appreciate the background of Maagnchi’s kitchen which is beautifully decorated with three cute butternut squash & the GREEN vase with BLUE flowers … 💙💚💜
Hi Maangchi, I just love watching you cook. You explain everything so well, that I understand how to make these amazing cookies 😋 🍪 😋. I am so happy to have found such an amazing Chef 👩🍳 your cookbook I bought, and I share it with my girls. This Christmas I am buying your cookbook for them so we each have are own. Thank you so much!!! And as always take care and love to you and your family 💕💓💕
I was watching a TV show & you were on it!! Such a pleasant surprise. I forget the name of the show, but I think you were showing someone how to cook kimchee and something else. I think the person you were teaching was of Korean ancestry but she didn't know how to cook any Korean food. I'll be trying to make your Yakwa cookies, husband and I love honey!
Thank you Maangchi! Your cooking looks yummy every time. Thank you for your lovely, clear and patient explanations. Take care and wishing you good health.

Hi Maangchi, I have tried most of the korean dishes watching and reading your recipes and I am fan of Korean food now. Few of favourites are Vegetarian Kimchi, Japchae, Kimchi fried rice, Korean sweet and spicy chicken and bibim guksu. Thank you for making me connect to Korean culture through food. 😊 In this Yakgwa recipe, can you tell me if I can use white grape non-alcoholic wine or white grape juice instead of Soju. Or even if any other can be used instead. I cannot find Soju easily available near me.
I saw these in one of the airbnbs i was staying at, and was wondering what they were! They look so delicious, should have tried them out when i was in Korea. Thanks for sharing as always!

약과 is my favorite. I never make it, always buy it in the store. It's quite cheap here, in Indonesia. And they sell the mini ones. I like the one with corn syrup though. It's less heavy. My second favorite korean snack is 전병, with 김맛. I wish you share your share recipe next time.
