Yakima Highroller vs. FrontLoader (aka Hatin' on the HighRoller) This is my first video review, which I recorded last-minute the morning I was getting rid of my Highrollers. It's a little long, but I hope it helps. I wanted to get it out there since I didn't see much comparing the two.

Very helpful comparison. Thanks for posting. Also, at 5:40 I was convinced just at the mention of "nine parts" to attach the Highroller. Nothing else needed to be said for me at that point.

Thanks for that comparison, I ordered the "FrontLoader" just now from Amazon plus two locks for about $250. You steered me away from the "HighRoller", but using your video reference, I think I will be happier in the long run despite the differences. I had watched some other videos, but a direct comparison from you was insightful and informative.

this is just what I needed. I have 6 frontloaders and need 1 more, was thinking about adding a highroller. need to move them around a lot - sticking with the frontloader! thanks!!!

Convinced the moment you put out all the parts to fit the HighRoad - FrontLoader is $80 cheaper in Australia too!! Thanks Kevin. I also read somewhere that the FrontLoader is better for locations near the sea with saltwater in the air.

Thanks for the comparisons. I just ordered 1 high roller and hopefully I don’t run into this problem and that they updated the high roller. I am now considering having one of each on the car and see which one I like more.

I have a 2015 outback(same color even), can you open your rear hatch with the front loader mounted or does it hit? Thanks for the video.

You have such a kind nice voice. I would be so aggressive and frustrated!! 9 parts and screws and bars and idk man. ide loose myself during filming and have to start over. I’ll settle for the frontloader

Great video. So happy I came across it. I have some older Yakima bike racks but with my new suv the oem rack is thick. For now I ordered a generic brand similar to the front loader on eBay for my niece. Hope it’s serves the purpose, but I will be ordering a front loader. How do they hold on your Subaru while driving?

Both designs came from the original King Cobra, which is an excellent rack and still going strong for me 10 yrs later. So to me there’s no need to redesign what’s already been perfected. But it’s all about revenue from R&D and manufacturing. Frontloader looks more true to the King Cobra design.

Getting a frontloader for my suzuki swift and was wondering if your able to install it with the bike backwards on the car, just alittle woried about the cars hatch hitting it

I just purchased a Front loader and very annoyed you have to purchase the key lock seperatly!! On a good note i was spinning out how easy it was to fit to my Rola roof racks! a few minutes and i was running!

I just got the frontloader for my specialized full suspension mountain bike, because I lost the key to my Malone bike rack.

As of 2023 the HighRoller is discontinued and is replaced by the HighRoad which is in fact easier and quicker to install than the FrontLoader. Look for a more up to date video before you purchase.

Why do all Subaru owners have a million stickers on them? It doesn't look as ba as you think! 😂

I purchased Frontloaders and guess what, they won't fit Yakima's own Railbars. And because it's a one-piece design, you can't even use a mighty mount to make it work. The Frontloader also just feels cheap compared to older King Cobra mounts I have, which was so simple in function and design compared to this new garbage. But Yakima doesn't make money selling old product, so they have to reinvent what was already proven effective and charge more. Guess I'm sticking with my 10 yr old King Cobras which work just fine but look like a$$ because Yakima never knew how to source UV-resistant plastics.
