*Here is Goro Majima, the man who single handedly nearly toppled an entire family out of love for a girl, only to give up on that love to keep her safe.*
well, makoto didn't know his name anyway. i suppose he was just being extra careful in case she suspected this eyepatch man was the one she was looking for, so she couldn't look him up by name. also of note is how he takes care to never speak within her earshot, so she doesn't recognize him from his voice.
@@Alvon_PR I thought he punched them because they were harassing her. He never told her his name but knowing Makoto she might find out who Majima is if those thugs said his name fully because he's known as the Mad Dog of Shimano and Lord of The Night in Sotenbori so hes pretty famous and she'll find him in no time.
never before in a game I had cried so much as in with this scene, something about Makoto not being able to recognize him after all they've been through is just so heartbreaking.
Oo oO truth be told kiryu doesn’t have a choice, he’s the legendary fourth chairmen, and no matter what he does he can’t escape from yakuza, business always finds him. Meanwhile majima here isn’t that famous yet, and he still has the option of cutting his connections before it’s too late.
@Oo oO well, this is stupid and selfish. Why should anyone be put in danger and have a high risk of dying only because you didn't want to let them go and let them live a happy life, preferring them to get involved with a dangerous life that they never wanted?
At 2:38 you can see Majima expression said "At last! I found you Makoto! I'm so happy" but then his expression change after Makoto stay silent. His expression just said "Oh, you don't remember me...." Then again, Majima want Makoto to live a normal and happy life after all of the ordeals they walk together. Poor Majima man....
This scene really hit me because it shows that Majima changed so much after 0 he’s unrecognizable but inside he’s still the stoic level headed person that still loves Makoto. Being with her would only put her in danger he was glad she was finally having a normal life for once but he was sad because being in that Life will just cause innocent people around him to die or worse. THIS is why Majima is “Crazy” it’s a mask to hide his inner sadness and you know what I think he thinks about it everyday what it would have been like to just be with her... Yakuza is truly the BEST Series ever made... period...
No he’s not “crazy” because he’s hiding his inner sadness, he basically just doesn’t care anymore and wants to have fun, just like what he told sagawa right before he was killed
Cadet Honor Code the doctor said her eyesight was still not fully recovered so she must’ve not paid too much attention to fact she could only see 1 eye.
i almost threw my controller at the tv when i was playing through this part but then i just lied down on the floor for about half an hour staring at the ceiling because my angst levels were too high
6:36 Watching Majima disappear into the crowd as he walked away and other people blocking him as they walked is strong Is a subtle way of him dissapreaing from Makotos life so she can live a happy normal life without him and his yakuza antics
Aged 39 and this is one of the best and most devastating moments I have ever experienced in a game. For me this is the very best story of Majima for me. It caught me totally off guard and left me with my heart in my throat. Legendary character and one hell of a brilliant story. This is the one game I felt was a movie as I was playing it. Had about ten moments they left me speechless and this just tops it off. Literally sacrificed himself and all he is so she could have a normal life. If he did reveal himself it would have led to her being in danger. What a god damn story
as sad as it is, i appreciate the way this scene played out. throughout the game, majima wanted to protect makoto from being hurt more than she already has been in her life. dating or marrying her would bring her back into the world of the yakuza which he tried so hard to get her away from. i love that this game showed that his love for makoto goes beyond a selfish desire to be "with" her instead of wishing that she be happy and safe with someone else. if that isn't true love then I don't know what is.
Same. Damn though. I'm getting better. My head used to hurt when i cried. Guess I didn't cried enough. But still i cried before harder than here and it still wasn't hurting. Good. I can make a good reaction and not just stay silent because my head hurts.
@@angelusvastator1297 Already heard it. I did teared up in that song. I might tear up even more when I'll play it myself. I already know you watched "Yakuza 1 English Dub is a Treasure" cause you're "Angelus Everywhere" but I'll be like "That monitor is such a piece of shit. I can't even see what's going on." But Instead put TV instead of Monitor.
Man Yakuza 0 took me by surprise. My first Yakuza game but god damn I was not expecting it to have such an amazing story. Definitely one of the best story telling I have experienced in a game.
I've definitely judged the game, thought that it was another hack and slash but if was amazing, and also if that gta 5 had the mini games and shops all around the map it would be like a fulfillment
@@Zeddddy That karaoke song dedicated to her also brought me tears, not just the song, but his unique voice too. Sounded both like his persona and real self there
Listen to his voice when he says "You helped my pain of 30 years" he drops the Mad Dog act and uses his real voice I legit cried with the Majima and Makoto scenes
Majima shows a softer side of him prevalent in the other games and I understand why he let Makoto go. He couldn't bare the thought of her getting hurt again. A true man's man
The music change is so beautiful. Like when he punches these dudes in the face it's like tough like his punches and then the second he looks at Makoto it's calm again. I think it kinda represents his emotional state at this moment.
It kinda irks me that the Female Doctor could at least make out Majima's eyepatch from afar, yet she didn't recognize him even though she talked to him face to face at the hospital.
@@hahamanin Still. If she remembers what happened then how can she not remember a face? Well I can't say too much. I forget something easily which was more recent than some dumb shit I did when i was a kid.
You know, I used to not understand people that would cry over a game or a movie. I thought they were overreacting on purpose. But when I saw that scene I understood what they feel.
I'm sorry, but I wished Majima had a better life. The man went through hell and back, and even saved the woman he loved, only to give her up to protect her new life. He basically told that doctor to be with her or else. The Mad Dog of Shimano is truly a tragedy from top and bottom.
You dont give up love. It doesnt leave you. It just becomes something else. Memories or hatred or sadness or even happiness for their sake in majimas case.
I've never seen any of the Yakuza games in my life but after playing through Yakuza 0 and seeing this i'm 100% a fan. Not only does it have great gameplay that doesn't rely on gimmicks and microtransactions to be good but it's got one hell of a story that practically puts both current games and movies to shame. And this scene is living proof of why.
The expressions, choreography and camera work of this game really set the bar at the top. I even noticed subtleties such as when Majima briefly glanced back at Makoto to check she wasn’t eavesdropping on his chat with sensei. And those quivers in his voice towards the end to signify his despair.
1:49 When Majima realizes that she doesn't recognize him. Breaks my heart. Makoto is dense af, how many one eyed, eye patch wearing Yakuza are there in Kamurocho?
I was expecting Majima to talk because it's the only way to reveal himself to Makoto... But... damn, I would really want to talk to Majima man, he doesn't deserve this hearbreak.
the sad thing is that Makoto cant recognize him for the sole reason as his look is changed, if he still wore the same outfit hair, and look, he would be more distinguishable, but unfortunately, Makoto still hasn't gain sight so yeah, if only they made the 7th game about Kiryu, Majima, Makoto again but Makoto reunites with both Kiryu and Majima, and Makoto has full eyesight again so it would be such a lovely reunion of them all
Yakuza 0 was my first title in the franchise and Majima is by far one of my favorites character of alltime. I'm so sad for him and miss his old character in the newer ones :( Really a masterpiece of storytelling!
Actually no. He didn't. He's acting like he is. He just wanted to go all out for shits and giggles. You can see like in the Majima Saga that he got Humanity. He talked kinda normal there. To his driver he was chill though he started talking like he does again when he got mad and the place Makoto is at...
I always thought that Majima had some mental illness before I started to play the series, but he’s not ill at all, he acts that way to respect his lost friends.
i remember playing this game just case i was bored was impressed and really liked Kyriu, then i remember the switch to majima. I remember saying out loud "wow I'm gonna play as a corny dude with an eye patch" then the game continues and you just can't help but fall in love with someone like Majima, multi dimensional character with a ton of heart, aggressive, bad ass etc etc then this scene happened and haven't missed a single Yakuza game afterwards. I've never played a game that balanced comedy, ridiculousness and pure heart like the yakuza series. I haven't played Yakuza 7 cause of the fight system but i thank god every day for letting me come across Yakuza 0
I just finished the game and it's amazing. I felt so bad for Majima for not ending up with Makoto and that's so funny bc I find romances to be in media to be mostly unnecessary and yet I was so invested as Majima as a character and his relationship with Makoto that I wanted him to have something good in life. That's how great the writing was.
@1:40 has anybody noticed that was the first time he sees his reflection in her eyes clear,,it startred as black then gery on the rooftop,,,but in this scene it's like a mirror and then he noticed she can see him
Can I just bring attention to the fact of how masterful the music is here? The pure emotion this piece holds in each part of the scene both makoto and majima interact has so much meaning you can practically understand whats happening without even seeing what has happened before. This game is so fucking good
My guy Majima had his brain fried after this, that's why he turned into a silly dude, to cope. It's Heartbreaking af. From being the lord of the night, respectable and fierce majima to a comic relief in the following games I really hope they bring back Majima as a playable character in the future. Like maybe they can make him revert to his old cool self as he tackle his own story in the future games. Kiryu is getting back in Yakuza 8, I just hope Majima would too.
@@steelofballsmoments2063 thats actual emotion voice actor and second of all the gameplay is just no mercy he literally stabs 2 guys then ends up throwing the knife on one guys chest accurately and then pulling out whilst saying hes pathetic if that doesnt tell you about what he is i don't know what does
I wish that, during the events of Yakuza 8, we can see an older Majima deciding to finally retire out of the Yakuza world (due to his age), and when he finally does, an older Makoto re-encounters him (the destiny of her family being up to free interpretation) and they can finally be together, no longer bounded by the dangers of the Yakuza world. They deserve it :(
If feel like Majima is testing her here since this will be the last chance he'll ever make a move. But he had to gauge if she actually recognized him. In my opinion if Makoto recognized Majima here, Majima would have fought tooth and nail against the yakuza just for the sake of being with her. But since he realized that Makoto didn't know him, Majima didn't bother telling her because he knew she was already safer that way. That's why Majima's smile turned into a frown. It was his last try. And at that very moment, he realized that the best solution wouldn't make him happy, but at the very least made Makoto safe.
That ending... I went through the game with a friend and in the end the plot kept us so busy that we didn't give a damn about going to work in the morning and when we had to get ready we watched this scene unable to tear our wet eyes away while somewhere behind us the alarm clock tried to reach us through the headphones... We ended up coming to work unsleep and crying.... This scene is unbelievable... true love.
Thanks to Jugdment, which I enjoyed extremely and it took me by surprise, I learnt that Judgment is a spin off of the Yakuza series. So, I started playing Yakuza 0 and I was blown away. Finally another game where you can hardly wait to get off work, so that you can finally play this magnificent piece again. Finished it the day before yesterday and started Yakuza Kiwami, but I will definitely go back to 0 for some more completion. However Majima's ending here destroyed me. 😢😢😢 And the nice surprise of the extra scene after the credits where Makoto finds the watch.... Damn! I was already crying with my heart in my throat, but this... 😭😭
2:41 something about majima's eye telling her "please recognize me", hoping he could start over again, but he knows himself that it's impossible now that he's far too gone. He can't turn back now, he is The Mad Dog Of Shimano.
Bro i cameback to watch this because there's something happened in my life in discord so i rewatch this and i got relate so hard on majima When you feel there's a better boy comforting her i will ask if he has a feelings for her or no then if he did i will justt give it away because i know that i don't have a chance on her and i would tell the guy to keep her safe and make her always happy i almost cried when i watch this again its just so relateable i see myself on majima bro
I sorta relate to Majima in a sense, I gave up my love for someone, I’m wanting to throw my life away and live one where I can be the mad dog but if I do that closes so many doors for me.
You can live freely and achieve a lot without becoming a mad dog - Majima chose a life of violence in the underworld so the mad dog persona was necessary. For civilians there are so many options. Hope things are looking up for you mate.
I just beat Yakuza 0 today, my first Yakuza game and it was much better than I thought it would be and really enjoyed it, these scenes right here were the saddest, kinda sad that I won’t experience Yakuza 0 again
