...and you’ve been childish. YEEEEEAH Thats how I knew that smile was a lie... YOURE KILLING IT ...you could find the words to say goodbye. AAAAAAUAUUGHH ...still in love, still in love with you. YES
He's not necessarily singing depressed at that very moment, but singing about a sad story, which is not the same thing. They're all having fun as I see it.
This was not released in 1988, after kiryu sings in the first mission of yakuza 0 nishiki tells him he choses songs like an old man. Baka mitai is likely from the 70s
@@HupCapNinja I don't know; I think it's fine enough. It's a little awkward, but their changes to the lyrics made it smooth enough. It definitely works better than "Like a Butterfly".
Also you can tell the Dub was never intended due to the lip syncing being off at times and some scenes it’s really noticeable. My assumption is they rushed it. If you’re gonna do a game set in Japan with English dub you need Asian voice actors that clearly have an Accent an accent can go a long way like Ghost of Tsushima and Sleeping Dogs.
Get yourself a friend like Ichiban. You're singing the saddest song you can think of at karaoke. He's over there, hyping you up like the DDR announcer.
@@dapperhorse4870 Well, most of the seiyuus in Japan are singers too for some reason You can't compare some japanese who know how to sing to a simple english voice actor
Most drama courses also teach some singing. Because, as you may guess, most medias still implement some musical numbers, like animations. So most competent voice actors know at least how to sing on note.
I mean, the same holds true for basically everybody's photo in this. Kiryu's never really looking at stuff to do with love, just at nostalgic stuff. Akiyama just looks at his old days as a homeless bum.
@@carllipsey1497 Saejima is looking at a picture of the martial arts instructor who sucked at fighting (forget his name but he was in yakuza 4 as a optional mini game that Saejima could do where he teaches the guy’s student how to fight in the underground coliseum)
That's when you know the dude's got true friends. Sure the cheering may not helped much in his concentration, but the thought, the passion, and that amiable joy is more than enough.
Greg Chun: **starts singing** Judgment fans that love hearing him as Yagami and are not cool with said game lacking karaoke who are also happy he voices Nanba: *YOU'RE KILLING IT*
@@davisbowe8668 KimuTaku is very expensive and having him sing would require Sega to pay more money. But hey, least we have the dancing minigame as a substitute.
the dub in yakuza 7 is amazing, it's been a long time since a game made me feel like if i was watching a movie, even after playing many cinematic games.
Im just talking outta my ass here but maybe its because its been a good while since we've had an action adventure japan-made game with english dub. Now that there's plenty of cinematic adventure type english games in .. well.. english.. so its a nice change of pace to see a japanese game dubbed in english. Ofc there are exceptions of japanese game series still ongoing with english language like the ATLUS lineup of games (SMT, Persona) but im talking campy stuff like God Hand Feels like its the 2000s all over again.
It's probably an acquired taste but after playing 7 yakuza games before in Japanese I could only take about 5 seconds of Y7's dub before I alt f4d the game and made sure the Japanese dub was enabled before I started the game.
@@thebluerover4517 No it wasn't, in the first mission of yakuza 0 Nishikiyama tells kiryu he choses songs like an old man after singing baka mitai. Its from the 70's
Nanba singing about failed love And Ichiban hyping him up the entire time Kills me. "I've been a fool, and you've been childish..." " *YEEES!!* " "This Moves me"
"I'm such a mess, I am lost, I'm no good at this I am in love, still in love, still in love with Yu Hard as I try, I can't even drink this pain away Memories of Yu, twisting my view I've been a fool"
Nah its a running joke in the yakuza series theres a random photograph/unrelated thing because the actual character has nothing to do with the actual song lol
@@The_Big_Jay You're talking about the older engines. The dragon engine can easily swap models. Here's a Yagami and Kiryu swap for example: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-f_Rkqrkw0Ms.html
@@The_Big_Jay Oh yeah, 100%. They didn't even re-do the English karaoke lip syncing which goes to show that yeah, lip syncing is a massive pain in the ass and not worth it to do every little detail in a small timeframe.
It's actually so great from the start of the game where its just kinda ichiban there and then at the end you see everyone present and cheering. Makes the whole journey worth it, able to kick back with karaoke and a drink.
The english version of the game is great. Within 5 minutes of starting the game, you hear 'cumstain' and 'shit-tier', and you damn well know that's not what they're saying in japanese, so it feels hollow. However, an english voice yelling it out makes it 'canon'.
Finally, finally got to play this game and I'm happy to see (well, hear) that the english dub is pretty good in general. I find it hard to choose between it and the original voices.
Yeah the Japanese versions are the best versions but I like the dub as well. Besides it fits the mood. Just a rag tag group of adults having fun and singing average at best while getting wasted makes sense. Well, that’s how I see it.
