Heyo!! So to maybe help clear this up, I am the voice of Adachi spoken AND singing in this game, this was heavily discussed and while we did gruffer versions that were more like his speaking voice ultimately the idea that he had a much younger singing voice was too funny a concept to pass up and that’s what the game developers went with! Thanks for playing 👊🏽
I would love to hear a gruffer version of your take on this song. I think the take used is great, but I have been wondering what a version closer to Adachi's normal voice would sound like too!
@@tycho7006 I'm losing it sounds so weird, like it's LITERALLY Ichiban declaring he is, in fact, going insane during Adachi singing karaoke, not because of Adachi singing, it's just him suddenly realizing he's going off his rocker.
@@IosonoOtakuman Pointed that out and the voice actor literally told me. "This guy shoots oysters at people and you want to talk about realism? (rolling with laughter emoji)" Kind of a dick if I'm being honest.
@@zombieyeager1654 Not really. I'm being held to a double standard because of my choice of words. Also, Adachi calls Ichiban out on his imagination, making the argument somewhat ironic.
honestly it was a pleasant fit to have Adachi sing like this it totally feels like he’d be the type of person to put severe auto tuning on his voice at the bar he regularly goes to
as much as the singing voice doesn't match the speaking voice....I kinda feel like that's what they were going for. "hey, wouldn't it be funny if this gruff-sounding old dude happened to have a super youthful singing voice?" "but it doesn't match." "eh, these games have a bunch of weird stuff in them anyways. it's justifiable" EDIT: ok it turns out this is what happened. I swear my uncle doesn’t work for Sega
I don't think it's intentional in that way. I think they just couldn't get the VA to sing for whatever reason and the singer they found just didn't match the character
@@TheCanadianLemur yeah, I was kinda half-joking with my comment but what you said is probably what happened. I’m assuming the singer is the voice actor himself though and they just had to roll with it
i like how when joon gi claps along with everyone else, he's a little off timing like he doesnt know when to clap i think thats adorable, hes trying to stick with everyone ahw
i don't think its bad. in fact out of all the karaoke in yakuza like dragon this is the best sounding one, its just that... the voice dosen't fit adachi at all, i was suprised on how young he sounded
I think the problem is also that not just that it's a weird fit for the character, but it also is really far from his normal dub speaking voice. Even if you played the dub, this karaoke is confusing because it doesn't sound like the same guy at all. Normal people aren't VAs that can significantly change their voices, especially amateurs during karaoke, the voice should definitely been more consistent with the speaking voice. Granted, Hana in Y4 also had this kinda thing where her karaoke voice was significantly different from her appearance and speaking voice.
My adachi is more of a host but I respect your opinion lol he fits a retired rockstar type, I love how through the jobs 2 people can have different takes on a single character
My enjoyment of it comes to as how people see Gerard Butler’s interpretation of The Phantom Of The Opera (even though THEY’RE WRONG) if it doesn’t fit I still find enjoyment from it as being a different voice and being kinda cheesy. It’s an acquired taste but live and let live
it does sound kinda weird. but if you listen to the original japanese version, their gruff old man voice _also_ sounded a lot younger and smoother for this song. so the localizers were probably just trying to emulate that.
Love the effort put into the English dub. There are still some NPCs that say Japanese, but that's fine with how good the English actors/actresses portrayed their characters.
I think I saw somewhere that Adachi's Voice Actor was supposed to do the song originally, but the devs thought it would be funny for Adachi to have a singing voice that's sounds 20 years younger than he is.
Literally same guy did the singing voice and spoken voice for Adachi. You guys know about singing right? Pretty often peoples' singing voice doesn't sound exactly the same as their speaking voice. Because, you know, they're singing.
Who thought that voice was a good fit for that character oh god, sounds way too young. They should have just gotten David Hayter for this, I wonder if he can sing.
Hahaha the singing voice difference really reminds me of Shinada, actually because... His voice actor also did freaking Yoshikage Kira. He has a really deep voice. And yet the VA sings a lot, and every time... His voice goes up like 2 octaves??? LOL I love his singing but it's still hilarious
my disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined, the lyrics and the voice are good but the guy voice is soo unfitting that it feels like this was made for Shinada. Hope they will fix this in a update and bring a singer that actually matches Adachi
I didn't care for the singing voice, but I would have forgiven that had they included a roar at the end like Akio Otsuka did during his version of the song. Words cannot express my disappointment.
@@muhammadzulfikarramadhan1652 I think its just English as a language; it's longer so it'll sometimes not fit in a verse, its softer so you don't get the sharp hits of the words, and it's hard to translate from Japanese. Not even mentioning adachi's voice doesn't fit him. Just my guess anyway
The younger voice in this song i find ok because adachi is characterized as a guy who tries to pick up chicks so it does seem to me like hed put a younger voice on to impress girls
This version would've been infinitely better if they didn't repeat "fall in love" at the end and just let the va imitate the Japanese version's ending.
I know this is a weird place to ask this, but is there any tips I can get? I'm stuck at the fight just after the wrecking crane where you confront and fight Namba plus some others down in the secret base. Especially since I can't fast travel for some reason.
I played this song lost night but the background of him singing from the bar to being on stage didn't change he just stayed in the bar how do I trigger the thing to change the background for him?
Ab-so-lute-ly *terrible* cover, bad voice-tone, bad editing, bad autotune, by the gods the Japanese version is so much better. Thanks for posting this video anyway, nice to make a comparison.
@@dominicunderwood4911 pretty sure he has, this cover isn’t bad at all, sure the Japanese version might be better in your opinion, but it doesn’t mean this is garbage. It’s actually quite good.
