That spring and key pin came out of my follower. I guess I need to be more careful with it.

HEADS UP - I still have the box for mine and noticed it doesn't say "Plus" anywhere on it. It says "500 Series". It looks like it should have an original in it but doesn't. Georgia Jim just bought a 500+ to help rank it, and the box actually says "Yale 500PLUS Series", but it had an original 500 in the box. Buyer beware! It's impossible to know what you might get, especially on Amazon. That's where we both got ours.

I think the 500 Plus is easier than the original 500 up until the last spool, which often gets into a deep false set that needs more than just straight up force to get it to counter rotate fully. You can see it in DQ's video at 6:22: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-jo0PGPHr3m0.htmlm22s I managed to avoid the really deep set in this run, but when it happens, you need to not only apply upward pressure on the key pin, but twist the pick a bit to add some manual counter-rotation. I found you can't do it with a second tensioner like you would with ASSA gins, or you end up dropping pins. If you don't know what's going on, it feels like a binding pin that just won't move. If you aren't careful, you could end up bending a pick. I'm going to do a video on dealing with Yale keyways with 0.025" picks and I'll go over it more then.
