Yes I agree the Yamaha carts are very fine products, I’ve driven a new Quiet Drive II and though it had the best ride ever, but is kinda slow at only 19-20 mph! Where I’ve seen Yamaha electric carts go as fast as 28-29 mph! When I was in the market I tried driving a lot of carts all over Florida and ended up buying a new, in 2018, Tomberlin E-Merge SS Coupe, 48Volt AC! That has features no other carts have, like hydraulic four wheel brakes with front disks, power steering, DOT Safety glass and wiper. All for the same price as a Yamaha! But Tomberlin has the quickest 0-25 mph in the industry and mine at times hits 26-27! We live in a gated 55+ community that’s just a fraction of the size of The Villages, that’s called Solivida, in Kissimmee, where the HOA supposedly says no gas carts because of noise! I was gonna buy a gas Yamaha till I found out that the top speed is almost impossible to raise on the new fuel injection engine, plus that stupid rule! But I still feel the Yamaha is one of the best carts in overall quality.

Hi Kevin, congrats on your new purchase! We used to be a dealer for Tomberlin and they do make some quick golf cars! The speed can be raised on the gas Yamahas, but they come from the factory at 19-20 mph, because they are not street legal. Our service center will raise the speed of the golf cars for customers that sign a form acknowledging that it could result in a citation as well as causing items, like the belt or brakes, to wear out faster. The speed is near impossible to raise on the electric golf cars, but pretty easy to do on the EFIs.

The Villages Golf Cars ok how do you do that? With a laptop and software? Because the Yamaha gas cart is a fantastic riding cart! But here in Solivida they say gas carts are not allowed, but I’ve seen a couple. But like I posted, no matter how fast you get them to go, you still only have rear mechanical brakes!
@TheVillagesGolfCars

With the gas, it has a mechanical governor, so we can remove the back bagwell and make adjustments. The electric models would need to be done with software. Very true about the brakes! These were built to be on the golf courses, so there are definitely concerns for when the speed is moved too much. We will only raise to 24mph, but we've seen people going much faster than that.

The Villages Golf Cars yea I remember the mechanical governors on small gas engines, like on my MiniBike as a kid, I discovered how to tweak the fan blade inside the cooling blower assembly, that was attached to the throttle linkage. But in most newer Fuel Injected small gas engines, like those in the Yamaha no longer have throttle linkage and are drive by wire, that takes a laptop and software, but are the other gas carts like that? For me? I like at least 25, on my cart I can maintain 25 on flat ground at 1/4 pedal, that leaves me a lot to get over any hill I could fine around here. I really like my Tomberlin and plan on buying a new one in about a year when the Lith-Ion Battery powered carts come out! I feel these carts are amazing. I had an accident of sorts with mine while I was alone and washing it at the east bay we have here for everyone to use that has water and air hoses. I had just finished washing when I noticed one of those floor mats on the ground, that fir on the carts floor around the pedals. I had just started to leave and absentmindedly left the dam key on! When I threw the dam mat down it hit the GP PEDAL!!! Well I tried to bran hold and run alongside and jump on, but all I did was fall hard and get bruised and a broken rib! My cart went full throttle squarely into the 6-8” curb at about 10-15 mph flew straight up in the air about 2’! Lucky for me that threw the mat off and the cart cam to a stop just 20’ from a pond!! I was helped up by a couple teenagers that were visiting their grandparents and help get a seat, the young man went over to pick up all the crap that went flying like my drink and glasses and a few other items, he sat on the cart and drove it back over !!! Absolutely NOTHING happened to the cart! Except for the built in charger, that suspiciously ended up malfunctioning in a month? But I’m still not sure the incident was the cause. I’m just very lucky it didn’t run someone over or into someone’s property! Still over a year ago. All I’ve needed to get done was replaced the charger, under warranty, and the steering knuckle splines stripped, but that was before that happened! That was fixed at the Tomberlin Warehouse Shop in Leesburg, Fl, after i trailered it up, because they heard from a dealer I contacted about the steering being stripped?? This being a new at the time power steering unit, the factory wanted to see what happened? Just poor metallurgy from dam china! Oh well sorry for the long rant, take care!

No wax on the exterior? I just purchased the atomic orange, wash only? No sealants or wax? Why?

Dave, congrats on your recent Yamaha purchase and that is correct. The manufacturers advise against using wax on the matte finishes. Here is an article I found that goes over the reasons much better than I would be able to. www.drbeasleys.com/blog/2012/05/19/why-you-cant-wax-matte-paint-finishes

What’s the “hometown delivery”
@TheVillagesGolfCars

Hometown is one of our equipment packages. This is the "delivery video" going over features of this package for new owners that weren't able to make it into the showroom to learn about their new golf car

Ronnie, these are all governed to go 20mph, which is the legal limit. If the speed control is adjusted, they can go closer to 30 miles per hour, but it's illegal to go that fast in most areas, it's unsafe, and it causes parts to wear much faster than normal.

I bought a cart outside The Village’s it did go 30; I didn’t drive it 30 but it was nice to have. I went about 22 mile hour on the average Thanks

David, this particular factory color is Matte. Regular gloss finishes are okay to wax.

You took over half of the vid explaining how to use the rain screen. WTF? I’m not going to be out in the rain, doofus. Not buying from you!
@TheVillagesGolfCars

Hi Nancy, the rain enclosure is standard on all of our golf cars and the operation is one of our most frequently asked questions. If you do not live in The Villages, you more than likely don't require a rain enclosure.
