Hi Matt, it's the first time I'm seeing you complement the Yamaha module with the Roland, and that intrigues me, but after reading the comments in detail I have seen your explanations, thank you very much. For the rest, as always, great "bolo" and sound wall. Congratulations. Postscript; the day is approaching when I will donate you an amount... 😂

Is fgdp 50 midi synched with rc600? Also, can you do a video on how you route your inputs on rc600
@MattBoltonMusic
@MattBoltonMusic 6 месяцев назад
Not synced. It's just being used as an instrument that makes noise. Like a trumpet. Nothing synced. I'm recording the sounds it makes into a loop just like I'm recording the sounds the guitar makes, no midi syncing of anything. No plans to make a tutorial video, sorry.

i found the handsonic a bit too choppy with its sensitivity if i wasnt careful with the pressure i hit the pads in the different kits snd styles. i rented one here in canada for 4 months. the fgdp 50 is a whole lot lighter on the pocketbook than the handsonic. for that $400 rental fee on the handsonic i could have bought sn fgdp 50.

The Handsonic has been around a very long time, Yamaha is taking that chance while it's there and, from the looks of it has done an exceptional job. This is the first time I have seen it and having Matt with them is the perfect guy. Have you tried the fgdp 50. yet ?
@EchoIslandLife

Matt, what do you think, is the Roland now the "choppy" (aka old boy, LOL) of the two? also ... you know you could be the first to do a decent comparison on the web, which is the first thing I looked up but no one has done it. go on .... ;) it ll attract the the type of crowd you re after.

The Handsonic is slightly more customizable and better. But the Yamaha is great so far. It's much more challenging to perform with the smaller buttons though. I'm so used to the HandSonic.

@@MattBoltonMusic i have not had either yet. yes, i would imagine with the handsonic you could give it more of a slap technique, like the African djembe drum, which has benefits. With the small buttons, you gotta use more or less a typing technique, but with up-to-date sensitivity by Yamaha. super appreciate it. !!

I use this amzn.to/3QDmreI from that company and they also sell a special thing that screws on it and you just velcro it to it.

Hey Matt... follow you regularly and have a similar set-up with the Handsonic but would love to replace it with a lighter option. Would love to see how the Yamaha is mounted to you mic stand. Great stuff as always!

Thanks! I'm not trying to replace the HandSonic. I bought the Yamaha for one reason only, it is small and easy to travel on a plane with. I'm doing a bunch of corporate gigs where they fly me to the event and the HandSonic takes up an entire carry-on bag. I've been playing shows with the Yamaha basically just to learn it, feel it out, see what it can and can't do. I don't practice at home, ever. I don't have a rig setup at home. Every time I'm live in front of an audience trying something, it is for the first time. The best way to learn a piece of gear is to gig with it. The Yamaha is amazing, I have BARELY scratched the surface of configuring it. It needs to be heavily configured...just like the HandSonic needs. I've only custom made a couple patches and even those are not dialed in yet. That being said, it would work for some fly dates. It would also work as a backup if my HandSonic fails. I like the HandSonic because of the size on stage. It's more visual for the audience. The audience can see that I'm playing a drum, not just hitting start on a drum machine or something. The Yamaha is small and people don't know what I'm doing on it. It kind of defeats the purpose if they can't see me performing on it. Hope that makes sense. So to answer your question I love them both. They are both great pieces of gear and both have fantastic sounds. The HandSonic seems to be a little bit more dynamic...mostly just because it has more of a playing surface and range. But the sounds are great in both with the caveat of customizing and tweaking the sets. I don't use any stock sets. If you're looking for which has the best sound...to me, they're both very similar.

Still wondering why someone need to play two drum machines, a guitar, a keyboard and still sing all at one time, juggling with many foot switches. Great talent though. Regards..
