In this video, let us have a soft comparison between the FZ 24 and Duke 200.
These two bikes are alike in may areas, but differ in may ways as well.
Firstly, both have quite a punchy engine, but the advantage goes to the Duke as we can witness in the video when both bike exited the corners. Even though the FZ 25 rider opened the throttle earlier the Duke always have around two bike lengths once they've exited the corner. But the FZ 25 have a slight advantage in braking, but not as much as we have hoped.
One of the Duke's main disadvantage is ..it cannot turn while using the front brake. This used to be one of the best advantage that all Yamaha products in the past have in abundance. But sadly in the FZ 25 the front end of the bike handles almost like the Duke but slightly better. In the video it might look like the FZ 25 have a huge advantage in braking, but in reality the advantage is there but its really small. It's just that the Duke rider braked a little earlier and the FZ 25 rider have a slightly better line..but in braking the advantage goes to FZ 25 nevertheless.
The bias ply tyres of the FZ 25 was a big disappointment as well. With slightly mushy and soft suspensions on both ends, it really is not a great corner carving tool, and the weird handlebar angle does not help either.
But all is not lost as it's one of the best in town bike with its's comfortable seat and punchy motor. We just wish that Yamaha provided FZ 25 with a slightly sportier suspensions, brakes and tyres even with a slight increase in price, it would make the FZ 25 a totally different animal.
