Good analysis. But here in Brazil, these keyboards are very successful and are often used to play lining and do popular shows without a drummer. Generally, musicians prefer the more affordable SX900 and SX700 versions. The Genos here is quite expensive, costing the price of a car, some RU-vidrs use it in the studio. I have been buying Yamaha arrangers for over 15 years and I think the company releases this product as a prototype for its other Clavinova and PSR pianos. They test the features on these expensive machines and then release a line of products with the same features, in smaller quantities. I believe that arrangers will not disappear, but perhaps they will take longer to evolve.
I completely agree with you. What I think is a shame about this flagship is that it lacks options that are in the cheapest PSR models, such as Unison and Accent that are in the PSR-SX600.
The keybed is a strange thing. I agree, G2 keybed isn't the best keybed at all. But the weighted keys I don't miss that much. For piano, it is a great feature to have, but playing for examplke synth pop is almost impossible (learned that on my Korg Triton V2 88). So pros and cons the weighted and unweighted keys do have, it is hardly depends on your playing style which one you prefer. Also it seems it depends on personal favour but I like the Genos2 sound better. For me the drums on Korg are nowhere compared to the Yamaha and the drum and bass is the music, without great drum and bass you equipment sounds just weak.
It’s not fair to compare the keybed with the hammer weighted keyboard of the Korg. Honest comparison would be to compare yamaha with the 76-key korg keyboard
I am considering to buy GENOS 2 but as an owner of an old SP-500 stage piano from Korg I am also looking at PA5x. In my old Korg weight hammer keyboard is still good, so I am looking for something that not necessarily have "real piano" keyboard, but more natural and good sounds - here GENOS 2 wins. Hard to say, but for me it seems that PA5x has its styles a little strange and flat. I don't like styles based on popular hits, but those not-so-outstanding sounds from Korg doesn't convince me at all. Maybe I should look for some more demo videos with PA5x before I decide which one is for me, but for now my musician heart isn't convinced to it. I have one question to you as a musician, who have many keyboards and stuff there. Is there an option to connect other keyboard through MIDI cables (in my case this will be my old SP-500) to GENOS 2 to use ie. new Grand Piano samples using other keyboard?
Hi, I have got a Yamaha PSR-SX700, the S.Art guitares are quite difficulte to play. Often the sound level is quite low when playing from note to note especially playing sustainable. The only way to make guitares (and also saxophones) sound level even, I have to play staccato. Do you guys have a trick for overcoming this issue? Thanks.
For me the Genos. I purchased it last week and no regrets. It seems there are Korg and there are Yamaha guys. I am (for arranger synth) a yamaha guy, for bikes I ride Ducati and Aprilia :D :D Had a few Korgs back then, the M1, X3 and a Triton v2 88 key but after that I never purchased any Korgs, somehow the Korg workflow doesn't work for me. Still have my M1 in my collection but beside arranger I am big fan of Analogue synths so I spend time with Summit and Dm12 as well and there are some other instruments. Have fun with your (any kind/brand) keyboards! becasue all instrument is good which inspires you to play/make music!
@@MaverickM1 I’m ended up purchasing the Korg. I am going to trade it in and purchase the Genos 2. PA5x is not what I had expected. The styles are not that good in my opinion.
