I have been thinking about buying one of these instruments for a long time. It is a difficult choice because I like the capabilities of both. Their cost is a consideration, but so is the time commitment to learn how to use either one effectively. I will probably buy the Jupiter-X this year and then add the Fantom next year.
Hi this is Pierre Henderson, firstly thank you korg for the PA 5x v1.3 it is truely amazing it truly pushes the PA5x past all compition Would anybody agree with me, that the logical thing to do for korg on the pa5x is to not disable the styles play when I enter the midi recorder, being able to recorerd seperate style track and pads to the midi recorder even while using chord looper would be amazing it would remove the necessity for the quick record and add a lot more contol and possibilties? Activating which tracks of the style or pads shoul be recordere in the midi recorder ? One more thing, if i want to use a intro or ending in the middle of a song, it stoppes the chord sequencer, can we have where it can continue the chord sequnce after an into or ending is selected ? Further more it would be amazing to have a track to record / layout / edit where fill pads, intro endings and variations for songd can be pre defined
The UI/Workflow is thousand times more intuitive for me on tyros/genos. I gave up completely on korg after my first tyros. (for me) menu system on korg instruments are a huge p.i.t.a....but I realized that only after trying out the other side :D So I will buy the Genos2. Its new FM(DX7) part is huge addon as well... Sounds: both sounds ridiculously good both have its advantages in some sound categories.... Plastic? Really an issue? Hmm dunno, never had any issues with pastic cases (except the t2 where the silver paint was wear off) but for me metal case is only a 10 kg extra weight. If you want to use it as a weapon (in close comnbat) it surely helps. :D In all other cases it just dead weight.
The big disappointment is that Korg published a list of frequently asked questions and answers almost two years ago, indicating that they were working on a new design of the Sequencer with the QUICK RECORD that would be implemented in the next system update operating. Have done two OS updates and still NOTHING at this level.
Congratulations on your purchase! Are there possibilities to use the Jupiter x preset tones on the Roland Fantom? Because nowhere have I seen anyone talking about this, I believe that because they use the zen-core engine there is this possibility.
@robson969 unfortunately you can't use those presets on Fantom since they have their own iarrpegios, but you can create similar layers since they both have similar sounds.
Hi Synth S, In your opinion, did Yamaha manage to bring the same sound power to the Montage M that Korg brought to the PA5X? I say this because I have a Korg Kronos 2 with 14 Kapro premium expansions and a Yamaha montage M 61.
Montage m ,especially the m8x with the polyphonic aftertouch, is the best current premium workstation/synthesizer on the market, and Yamaha did a very fantastic job on this latest flagship nothing can beat or even come close to the Montage M series for now!! Until the next flagship that gets released by korg or Roland or even Yamaha!!
How are these guys not doing a full research on these? Most dont even realize the Roland 16 pads x 4 banks of sample pads (48khz) which can be triggered in the sequenced tracks. The pads are multi functional for live.
(1) Which one has great mixing and mastering effects to produce a professional sounding song without using a computer? (2) Can you expand the inputs of the fantom by attaching a class compliment audio interface or digital mixer and route the additional inputs from the external device into separate audio tracks on the fantom as it can be done on the MPC?
Fantom has great IFX and tons of other editing effects on its sequencer. You can expand Fantom inputs. However, it has more than enough connections in the back.
@@synth.s here is my gentle advise, fix acoustic panels to your walls and feel the change. You'll be glad that you did. Note: acoustic panels are not only for recording purposes.
Sad to say it's been a little disheartening seeing Korg step away from innovating in the flagship game. Seems after OASYS, the m.o. has been to reuse those same exact sound engines inside progressively cheaper hardware. If you have an oasys, there's almost no compelling reason to get any other korg releases, other than maybe physical portability (oasys is massively big, so i did snag a 63key m50 for running around, as it is feather lite) The few extra tones and patches weren't quite enough to justify the move to kronos for me, and the nautilus seems more or less a rebadge. I gotta say, the newest montage has sound that is definitely next gen. Roland always seems ok, but I've never found any "wow" sounds from them, and for me their actions are slow and heavy, but i get that this is strictly a personal preference. The latest Montage action is amazing though, and the polyphonic aftertouch is definitely a great feature few others offer. Hope Korg revisits the game with a truly innovative offer. Also, i don't know too many folks that still produce in the workstation alone. Except for very special circumstances, almost everyone has access to some form of a DAW and will have a much easier time intuitively using it, than composing in a proprietary sequencer/multitracker embedded in their keyboard. So other than providing some sampling memory for user recorded/uploades samples, i don't care if all future flagships are "synths only" without a built-in "multitrack recording" features. Today that's about as necessary as including a casette-tape player in your car's stereo...
Yamaha tiene baterías que retumban es rico Korg tiene sonidos ralea me preguntó en algún momento si hacen fusión la marca sería poderoso esa marca uff te imaginas
I'f I'd buy the korg, would it be spossible to download and convert somehow some of the styles of the genos for the Pa-5? I love the desert adventure style and of course the articulations ofsome sounds. Thanks for this vid.
You didn’t talk about the SAMPLER of the Korg Pa5x. I don’t know if the Yamaha has a built in sampler ? Also the 6 outputs of the Korg. Also the built in software that converts other styles on Korg.
@@synth.s i use to have a Yamaha Montage 7 so im familiar with the keybed. I will be ordering soon the Korg Pa5X 76 model so i just want to make shure it has a good keybed action.
Almost useless … not knocking the sound quality but the cpu load is very high especially with FM-X .. hope they can remedy that but I’m not very hopeful about it. Why would they even release software that takes a 3,000 MacBook to run . So buy a Montage forget the plug-in.
Sure it's a beautiful synth, but I see you have Roland Fantom there. I'm sure you can do that and more on the Fantom. I have one myself and for digital-type of sounds it's really good.
I believe that people who already have the Yamaha Montage have no interest in using the plugin if they already have the hardware.. the question is, is there any way I can buy the license even without having the hardware?
Montage m owners can use the E.S.P on stage with a very light weight controller. Unfortunately, you can't have the software unless if you purchase the hardware.
I am interested in Montage. The only difference between M6, M7 and M8x is the number of keys and the after touch in M8x, the rest of the features are the same, right?
Hello, my personal opinion is Pa series have evolved so much it is time to have as part of this expensive and great instrument a dedicated professional 8 - 16 tract audio recorder to which can sync with the accompaniments with editing functions to be able to do good studio grade recording? Is it not time?
Genos wins on Drums, Buttons disability, Cover Songs - all from old to new, Hundreds of New Styles Available for free you can find Genos 2 atyles converted for Genos 1 , better acoustic instruments ( strings and guitars) korg pa5x wins in : a few more modern styles, capability to combine 2 styles, better keyboard feel, metal case, inclines the screen.
They made the same mistake as Access Virus did with their keyboard versions.... The unused space is staring in your face screaming for hands on buttons and knobs. This just to save up for the same layout as a rack version.
The Genos may sound a little better than the factory sounds, but the samples and styles allow you to get some amazing sounds and styles on the Pa5x. Genos 2 no sampler!
