you can buy these individually my drum shop sells it like that. Im bout to get mine really soon a pack and some more additional cymbal stands. The double pedal problem I'm about to use a pearl flatebase hi hat stand once it arrives.Good review dude glad that hardware pack is working for you.
Hey, I bought these with my Covidbucks based, in some factor, upon your thoughts in these videos. You were the only person who had something critical to say about it and that's a good thing. I got them on you-know-where-azon and I sprung for the second snare stand for my rack tom and a third cymbal stand for my ride. I found the Yamaha short boom arm for around forty bucks and it fits right in the Crosstown's fattest section. It moves my ride inboard, over my kick. Its not the lightweight extruded aluminum like the rest of the bits but its small. So a crosstown boom is possible, sort of. I wish they made a stool and pedal that matches the rest and doesn't stink. Good, helpful stuff sir.
Oh hell ya! Best idea in the history of mankind! They need a throne that has a base like these. My throne has gotta weigh 15lbs and I can't buy some cheap throne cuz I'm over 200lbs. If I didn't have an SKB rolling hardware case it'd be even worse but I don't like the extra weight of my throne. Even moving it around setting up is a pain. Gibraltar makes strong stuff but fuggin heavy. Also glad you mentioned the boom arm. I was wondering exactly that.
Just bought a pack myself, they'll be here on Monday. I am sick to the back teeth of carrying heavy hardware for a 6 pce kit. Especially as a lot of places we play are so small, getting in even a small kit is a struggle. If it was just drums I wouldn't care, but as I am carrying PA too, the drums are a 2nd thought. So, I am doing the "old" thing by down scaling to a bop kit and just a couple of cymbals.
Hey there, I know the video is old but I have a question that might help your situation regarding the hi hat stand. I've been looking into this pack and the use of double kick is mandatory. I used to have yamaha hardware and my old 3 legged hi hat stand was not able to be rotated, however I drilled out the pin that lives in the middle of the lower (fixed) portion of the folding assembly, then it allowed me to rotate just the legs of the stand. From what I can see in photos, this stand has the same style of pin, and if the mounts for the legs aren't one piece with the upright, you might be able to do the same? If this is doable, please let me know.
Not for sure where you are located, but most online dealers I order from (Sweetwater, Musicians Friend, Etc.) do carry the individual stands. That said, the pack is enough for me, as I typically mount my ride on a boom arm from the bass drum. (The bracket holes on my Pearls fit a small boom arm perfectly).
Really!! Wow that’s good news!! When I checked they were only distributing packs. I could use another cymbal stand 4 sure. So I assume u already own the HW3 pack? Are u liking the gear?
The Creative Drummer I should’ve said ‘Will be” enough. I just ordered them, and am expecting them to arrive tomorrow, in plenty of time to test for this Friday’s show.
@@thecreativedrummer5546 Update: About the time I purchased these, I scored a weekly gig at a club with full back-line, so I haven't used them as much as I expected to. Still though, I've use them for probably 20-30 gigs, including outdoor festival shows, with no problem. My only complaint, which I expected, is that the aluminum will scratch pretty easily if packed together without using the included sleeves. This is only a complaint because I prefer to keep stands fully extended in my long case when possible to speed up set up and tear down, and then use the smaller included bag when travel space is tight. I just have to be careful how I pack them (for example, roll them up as I go into my drum rug to keep them separated some). Overall, the weight savings is worth it.
One thing Yamaha did do was to make the base fit a standard 7/8” pipe. I have both a Yamaha and a small Gibraltar boom top section that fits the crosstown base. Of course it ads weight, but works as long as you watch leg placement and/or don’t move too far off center when a boom is needed. I even use the base as a tom stand for my kit with a virgin kick by inserting my Pearl tom arm.
So, is there a way to adjust the high hat stand? Adjust the feet? Adjust the tension? Because so far it looks like I can't do any of that.....and I'm just sitting here thinking this is the most over priced piece of garbage I've ever purchased.
I feel your pain. The HH stand is definitely the weak link. I don't use it, because on 90% of my gigs I use a double pedal, and you can't rotate the legs to fit one. And not being able to adjust spring tension is really lame. One of my kits has all Yamaha hardware, and it is some of the best, most well-designed stuff on the market, so there's no excuse in my mind for Yamaha to drop the ball on this HH stand. BUT, I have on occasion used it when I'm not using a double-pedal and it is not that bad. I can live with the tension as is. I really do love the rest of the stands though.
You can def fit a pedal. Throne? It totally depends on the size of the seat. I use a Tama throne with the seat back, so there is no way it would fit....plus the weight gain would be unacceptable.
Packed right, I fit my DW5000 single pedal and throne (Gibraltar 9708 single braced base with a small top from an older Pearl D75 Throne). Any larger top might be a problem.
