Just (I mean today) recieved my LL16. I'm shocked how good this guitar is. Play like butter, fantastic neck, fantastic craftsman and it was PERFECTLY in tune when I got it out from the case. I mean perfectly. It travelled from the internet shop where I bought it and it was still in tune! I've got Martin D-18, Larrivee L-03R, I had Taylor 816, which I sold recently and still have Taylor 314 and Yamaha LS16, so I know what good guitar is. And this guitar IS fantastic. My first impression os WOW!

Totally agree. I bought an LL 16 sunburst less than two weeks ago, it looks feels and sounds terrific. Apart from that, I was so impressed at how it stays in tune, I played it for hours 3 days straight, strumming and finger-picking before I had to tweak the tuning. I love the plug n play pick up too, no ugly box or buttons on the side. I love it!!

i have been able to "borrow" my dad's LL-45 and its simply amazing. The difference from my $550 alverez is just nuts. I changed the strings on the yamy, hit one chord put it down, then called my dad just to ask him if he knew how amazing it sounded. I have never felt and heard such a dramatic difference from just a string change from the noise to the body vibrating against me to the difference in feel of action. Unreal. It was his only guitar for a very long time and i see why. Youd have to spend some real crazy money to get better, which he did on a tippin crescendo and he started playing it less and got another crescendo and ive been jaming on it since like march. It just gets better every day.

Thank you for the review Javis. I had a chance to play to 26 36 and 56 in London some time ago. All great guitars, Yamaha craftsmanship, big sound. The 56 is a bit more bassy and has a fatter tone than the other 2. Nevertheless somehow they just don't match my taste. It is an interesting experience to play some guitars that you really think they are fantastic but you just don't really connect to them. Could be the room acoustic, my nail condition on that day or the Elixir on them though. Well, my taste can change or maybe if I play it in a different room, who knows.

Hello Jarvis, I really need your personal experience about the cedar top guitars. I love so much the sound of Cort GA5F BW with satin finish and want to buy it. This guitar has so exceptional sound compare to the europen spruce with madagascar wood , but I heard 2 scary thing about the cedar. First. This is an oily wood and there are lots of bridge problem with them because the adhesive can't hold the surfaces perfectly. So after 2 years, the chance is extremely high for a maintance ( reglue bridge and setting the guitar), and this is one reason why some manufacturers avoid from selling them and I avoid from buying it. The second is that cedar is very vulnerable wood so get hurted more better than spruce. It gets dented and scratched so easily, the last one can be done even from fingers nails on the natural satin. I love fingerstyle and also use wrist tap technique on the guitar top and I afraid of dente the wood. Are these really true???? also I want to play even outside (of course try to avoid sunshine as much as it's possible) , I think may the GA5F MD with high gloss finish can be more resist with scratches , and sun shine in addition the spruce top with the dente of my wrist tap. May with a more balanced strings set this guitar can be the right choose because of the safe solution. But I'll wait for your experience, and thanks in advance!

These guitars are not for the “Oh look at me I’m playing brand name guitar X Y Z” crowd. These instruments are for those in the know, and serious musician. Supreme build quality and tone for days. Even the LL56 has a very tasteful and understated look in person. They are not cheap instruments, but they are worth every dollar you pay for them. It’s unfortunate that they are hard to find. Once you play one you “get it”. Great allrounders. If I only had money to buy one high quality acoustic this would be it (it or a 56). The value received for your dollar is immense compared to what you would get for the same money from a lot of other brands. Yamaha know what they are doing on the high end. Anyone thinking that these 26/36/56 guitars are anything like the lower tier 6/16 product line would be wrong. Worlds apart both in price and performance.

@@Wobbz9413 You are very right to love your 16. They are great instruments, but I stand by my comments. 6/16 are not in the same league as 26/36/56. This is just the fact of the matter, which is completely fine. There is a guitar for everyone in the Yamaha line. I wasn’t intending to offend the sensibilities of those owning the 6/16 range. They are very very good instruments in their own right.

I would guess that the 36 and 56 sound basically the same. If I'm not mistaken, the differences amount to abalone, tuning machines and wood grade. Sure, they say that the 56 is made by one master luthier, but I don't see that as a significant advantage over a small team of skilled luthiers.

I thought the inlay on the fret board and yamaha logo is not abalone, it looks like mother of pearl to me (cmiiww). They use abalone for the LL56.

Lawrence Ko I don’t know as owner ordered through the Singapore Yamaha

I would recommend 日本樂天市場/Yamaha Authorised Distributors in Mainland China. TomLee can probably do a custom order for you too, but you will have to wait since I think Tom Lee only gets 2 shipments from Yamaha each year.

@@TheGuitarSpaSingapore I had a LL16, never played LL36. In terms of sound quality, how much different between them?
@brunningwolf
@brunningwolf 3 года назад
For the high price they should use mother of Pearl. Like Martin does.
@ronkepos

In term of jewelry price, Abalone (Paua) have always had a higher value than Mother of Pearls.

I own LL16D, LL36 and LL56. For me they all sounds different. The LL16D has a brighter sound, the high is not as clear as those two. The LL36 has warmer tone, and the high is soft and clear. The LL56 is brighter than the LL36, it rings just like bell, crystal clear compare to the LL36. They all loud, have a very good sustain and overtones. For best money to sound ratio I would choose the LL16D. But for sound wise I will choose the LL56. Yamaha also made the LL86 series which come with solid jacaranda back and side, I try it before, it sounds just a little differend in tone compared to the LL56, but I think it doesn't worth the price.

And the fact that the 36 is totally hand built! I love my 16, but Id love to own a 36 as well for the much fuller, richer tone, and hand crafted feel.

Yamaha has persisted for more than 50 years in sticking its guitars with the ugliest pickguards in the history of the guitar. Why ? I have the LL36 model (from 2004). Why not put a nice pattern on the headstock of this guitar! Yamaha practices bad taste with an innate sense of ugliness...
