In this video, I'm testing the 0-100km/h time as well as the top speed. Bike: 2016 Yamaha MT-03 with a full system arrow exhaust. Filmed on a GoPro hero 7 black Best 0-100 = 5.2s Top speed = 182Km/h or 113Mph
Maybe you can help me out. For about a year, I've been sitting on honda shadows and they fit me really nice!( I'm 5'10 130 lbs. Yeah yeah I know I'm skinny lol) sat on one of these the other day and now idk what I want for a first bike! The shadow has a 750cc displacement making 42 hp. Were as the 03 is a 300cc make the same hp as the shadow. Don't really care to be fast, just fast enough to over take cars or get me out of situations if need be. Which one should I look more into people? Ah I'm torn! Lol!
Hard for me to say I've never even sat on a shadow, I guess it comes down the preference do you prefer cruisers or nakeds? I'll tell you about the mt03 a bit. I've had it for 2 years now, never had any problems with it. Very reliable and fun to ride, but the plastics are not great, feel a bit cheap and scratch easily, the stock exhaust rusts to bits so I'd recommend a full system but they're pricey off course. I'm 5.11 and if fits me alright, on longer journeys I've never felt uncomfortable.
Get the MT-03, I've got 9000 miles on my 2019 and it's a great starter bike. It's got power if you need it but the powers high up in the rev's so once you're comfortable you can get up there and start having fun. Great city bike but it's a fairly neutral riding stance, I have done 500 miles in a day and didn't feel wrecked.
Ahhh I'm leaning towards the yamaha now lol! You guys on the mt 03 ever felt like you've been wanting to upgrade to a bigger displacement bike? Been seeing reviews on the yamaha that people grow into them fairly quickly and end up getting a bigger bike. Not wanting to do that. Also, did you buy your bikes new? If so, how are the payments and insurance?
Also, I live in San Francisco California, so lots of city, beach, highway, canyon, and steap hill riding. Need a bike that can do it all fairly well!(:
@@iride1999 I had my reasons. But looking back at it now, sold it with 11k kms, never even had a scratch on it, hell yeah I miss those days. I plan on buying 07 sometime in the near future. Hope yours serves you for a long time and in a safe manner. :)
Just took home my new 03 today. 0.2 miles when I got home. Took her around the block because it’s freezing out here in Michigan. Looking forward to a lot of fun this summer.
im sorry to confuse you on this... because i am stuck on this, but look at a bmw g310r. i cannot decide between the bmw g310r or the yamaha mt 03 for a first bike.
@@ronnyphi7257 The MT-03 is good for the street and a bit of the highway. The BMW is more of a adventure do everything type of bike. The MT-03 is lighter and most likely easier to control.
Yeah I have it remapped, it runs alot better with it, and it makes around 4 extra hp from stock. But the top speed can be affected by many things, tire pressure, rider weight and even wind.
Very nice quality video. Are you running the stock sprockets on that? She seems surprisingly fast - I had a 2011 C6 Vette that regularly clocked 0-60's at around the 4.5 mark, and that felt like a rocket ship lol
@@iride1999 See that's my problem. I have a 18 Camaro SS 1LE and it'll do about 4.2 second 0-60 without a hard launch. I've rode dirtbikes growing up and now I'm wanting to get a bike (taking the MSF course next month too). I don't think I want to start out at a 300 because I think it could be boring coming from a fast car. I want a bike that is at least as fast as camaro if not more. I am looking at the Z650 or the Suzuki GSXS 750
I see what ya mean, but you gotta consider the fact that you feel acceleration different on a bike, in a car you sit back but in a bike you gotta hang on.
thanks for the video. very straightforward. no BS content. one question though, did you have to get some racing parts or had any tuning done to get this performance?
Get the MT07 for sure, the MT03 would be too small for you! If you really want a 300cc look at the R3. Even though it’s smaller the way you sit on a sport bike gives you more room.
I was thinking about the ninja400 or the z400 as i want it to go every day like 60,70km outside the town with an average speed of 70km/h . However the 2020 of ninja and z400 models are like 1000€ more and everyone says (RU-vid reviews) that the new mt03 is crap even compared to the duke... Watching your video i start to reconsider it honestly. Do you think going with the mt 03 and in like a year or two modifying it a bit is a better idea? Also what about the fuel consumption? (I am 6ft and 180pounds)
I've had the bike for almost 3 years and even after getting a 600 I still love the mt03. With the exhaust and ecu tune I'm getting around 4.5l per 100km. Everyone's got their opinion on bikes but you just gotta try one out yourself to know for sure.
@@iride1999 I really appreciate your answer, thank you. Also, I've noticed you answer most of the comments and i really want to tell you that it is just great seeing it. Thanks again!
@@DaniDullaert I never bought the system as a whole, the previous owner put on the slip on muffler and then I bought the headers and mid section used from eBay, and you can find the whole system on ebay as well, it will cost about 600 euro.
Hello dude, i have the same bike ! What is your exhaust and how much does it cost please ? I like this sound, the original exhaust is good enough but not like that !
It's just a great all round bike, very reliable starts first time everytime,I've put 14k kilometres since I bought it and it never gave me any trouble. very fun to ride and not bad for longer journeys too. One really bad thing is the quality of the stock exhaust, it rusts really easily, that's why I went for the full arrow system. The plastic could be better as well, scratches very easily but it can be polished to look nice again. Personally I love this bike, has a lot of character especially with the aftermarket exhaust. I recommend it
I have a RVF400, now that was a bike. V4 with the gear drive howl. The CBR400, VFR400 were built better than the top1000cc sport bikes of the day. Looking here to decide between the Duke 390 and MT03 in Australia
According to the dyno its making 4hp more over stock, I don't really feel much difference tbh but I've never properly tested the performance while it was stock.
No sadly not, but if you look at the specs the kawasaki has a few more horsepower and weighs a little less so should be a little faster on paper anyway.
@@iride1999 Yeah true. I wonder how much you notice it when riding. I've tried the z400 before and am planning to try an mt 03 soon. Yours looks proper quick though!
Sure man here it is www.motea.com/en/rear-view-mirror-for-yamaha-mt-125-mt-03-mt-01-craftride-round-black-189188-0?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIg5jdvsCC6wIV6YBQBh2SwweeEAQYASABEgJTa_D_BwE
@@iride1999 you think so?? I daily ride a Honda CG125cc 01 and it only goes as fast as 80km/h and even tho i wish i got more i dont think its that safe going more than 100km in the city, maybe cause you live in the US and there the avenues and highway's are waaay bigger than here
Actually I live in Ireland and the city streets are pretty tight, but what I meant to say was its pertect for the city but I wish I had more on motorways and country roads where roads are more open.
It might be too small for you, I'm 5'11 and I can already flat foot with bent knees and my legs just fit into the shape of the tank. You'd need to have a seat on one to know for sure.
Well my bike is also tuned, but it was getting over 170 easily when stock, keeping in mind that if your a heavy rider it will slow it down, I only weight 71kg.
something might be wrong with your bike... my stock mt-03 hits 174 km/h any day... I weight 92kg, so maybe sparks, plugs... or just hit it harder from 1st gear all the way up :-D
I am considering buying a mt03 but i doubt between this one and the earlier model. I like the design of both of them so i dont now if this one is worth the extra €1000
I have ridden the older mt03 but only around a parking lot when I was doing my IBT, the only differences I noticed is the older mt is a bit more twitchy and vibrates more but feels faster cuz of the extra torque that is has. The older mt also looks a bit more grown up with wider tires and less plastic on it , I prefer that over my bike. Both are good bikes in my opinion.
If you’re just starting out this bike has plenty of power unless you wanna die Lol 😂 The next step up in this model is a 700 which is absolutely wicked
Honestly I’ve heard good things about the mt-03 and I want one but for my mod 2 I’ve been told to get an mt-07 but in reality the 07 goes 15mph faster like I would rather buy the mt03, I mean if they are like the 125 which is somewhat fast, can hold 70mph easily and be fun I reckon an 03 would be spot on
People also prefer the mt07 for the sound because of that 270 degree crank. And it may not have much more as far as top speed but acceleration will be a lot faster than the mt03. But yeah I love this bike.
Looking at an MT03 as my first A2 bike when I pass looks so smart and 113mph top speed with a 5 second 0-60 time is pretty quick for a 320cc. I just love naked bikes I was looking at a duke 390 aswell but it has a single 370cc piston heard people complain that it’s pretty jerky and has problems.
Yeah the Duke is a lot less reliable, if I remember correctly they have gasket issues, but apparently on the new ones they fixed that, the mt03 is a fantastic bike, can't say too mush about the Duke never ridden one but they look pretty neat too.
