Hi there. My name is Andrew Tompkins. I have been playing the keyboard for almost 30 years, and only recently started working with Yamaha's pro-level arranger series. I never owned the Yamaha PSR-S 670, but I can tell you all that I do not want the touch screen. I am completely blind, and the fact that the PSR-SX 600 still has buttons, is why I chose it over the SX 700 or SX 900. Further more, I love the unison and accent function, as well as the built-in USB audio interface on the SX 600. Also, in my personal opinion, I think that for my situation, the internal speakers on the Yamaha PSR-SX 600 are more than sufficient for me. I live in the Washington, DC area, and recently went out to play at one of the local metro stations. I had to keep the volume down, around the halfway point. I personally do not want too powerful of a keyboard, or else I'd start receiving complaints from fellow riders and transit police and station managers would ask me to leave. The SX 600's speakers provide a nice balance of clarity, but not overly punchy sound. Everyone has their own preferences, and everyone's musical situation is different, and depending on the venues you play at, you may want the more powerful speakers found on the Sx 700 and 900. But again, for my needs, the SX 600 is fantastic!
Am buying sx600 coz normally Yamaha will make 2 PSR the 900 line and 700 line then come back to 600 line coz i think this year the 700 and 900 line will be released mybe before or after June correct me if i counted wrong 😅
Nice review.. I think it would be better if Yamaha will add something like a "ritardando fill-in" feature in the future SX Models.. 🙂 It would be of great help since there are songs which gradually slow down in tempo when there is a "fill-in" in between..
New features? Sounds to me like a stripped down version of the Sx7xx, Sx9xx compensated with some app like functions based on USB audio... So for me personally that is not interesting enough... Especially not for 1000$'s
big difference is speakers is a WHO CARES - I wish they had NO speakers and had added a few other features. Who would ever use these tinny tiny things in ANY of the PSR-SX anyhow, when a nice cheap set of KRK or Alesis speakers sound 1000x better?
I've been using a PSR E-463 for about 3 years now and decided to 'upgrade' to the SX600. I really like all the additional styles, voices and features even though this keyboard is meant to be an 'entry level' SX keyboard. I've never felt that I have wasted my money with either of these instruments and I'm sure that the PSR SX-600 will give me lots of enjoyment. Thanks for the review Jeremy and well done Yamaha.😊
Dear Jeremy Does this supports the Time Signature of 7/4 or 7/8 in Style creator. If not, what is the way to create a style in 7/4 or 7/8 Time Signature. Because this is very important in Indian Music.
Holy Smokes.... This is the Keyboard I've been waiting for.... If only I could afford it! Maybe a year from now, the price will come down. I can still dream! Time to start saving my shekels now!
Hey Jeremy i love your video's about Yamaha keyboard arrangers i have the sx-900 i was wondering if you can do a tutorial on how to create custom styles from start to finish and with all the tips and tricks thanks
I Wait so much for this keyboard :) finally it was realeased :D but I prefered to buy the s670 which was half or prize here in Brazil. After the pandemic the price of this Keyboard is about 1200USD
Bravo Jérémy tu es le premier à parler de ce nouveau clavier et à le décrire en détail😉👍👍👍 j'attendais le nouveau Medeli, mais je pense que e SX 600 est une collaboration avec Yamaha
You raise a pertinent question when asking is this a good time to release (into an already crowded market) when different parts of the world are experiencing the constraints because of Covod-19. For some, it could be just the right time. It's inclusion of features not present in the PSR-SX700/900 while retaining Yamaha voice/style quality but lacking some other features so that it can be offered at a lower price will make it an attractive choice for some. People in regions where lock-downs are occurring to varying degrees will be looking for something new to explore while being restrained to remain at home (particularly where I am in Australia as an example) and this is an interesting competitor to the flagship models at its lower price.
This has the features and sounds to make it a worthy competitor, more so when it will most likely be priced even lower, at around $700+ USD in emerging markets.
Hi Jeremy.. What about psr Sx600's Midi /audio capabilities in DAW...does the missing MIDI IN/OUT port make any difference for music composition in comparison with PSR sx700!?
They should create a keyboard that you can manually download the sounds and styles you like, instead of being stuck w a bunch of sounds and styles you won’t use.
Sounds a good idea but I suspect that the hardware demands of providing a keyboard versatile enough to download voices and styles of your choice would probably make it too expensive. With the large range of keyboards available, most people should be able to get something close enough to their musical needs (and financial capacity).
Thank for all yours videos and recomendation, i buyed for my children the Casio LK-S250 (he have casio sa-46) and now i think buy keybord for my, i have a question for you and apreciate your recomendation for selected form Korg i3, casio ct x5000 or yamaha psrsx600.. i am beginer
Adding a mic input but no applicable DSP effects or vocoder is odd. No after touch on keybed. You did not mention the new vocal track canceler (or how is this called). It has no touch screen: why is not possible to use an app on my tablet to do so (outsourcing idea).
Excellent review! Maybe Yamaha has pulled a rabbit out of the hat! That would be good timing.. Now I'm going to see your next video.. Can't wait to hear what it sounds like. :)
As of today, right now, you already have 7,469 views. You have 70.8K subscribers. You posted it August 3rd. It's only the 4th.. Huge exposure. In a few hours there will be even more views. You are well-known -- on the forum I belong to -- and most others.. Your reviews are informational and done with professionalism and would be an excellent reflection on the kind of quality they would want to promote, I would think.
HI Jeremy, does psr sx 600 take usb microphone for its rec and share app? and it would be great if you do a vedio how to pre record my vocal and accompine it on psr sx 600 step by step for beginners like me . Thanks
@@JeremySee Of course. I watch all your videos. 👍 Now when I listen to the sx600 in other videos it sounds much like my psr 670 but maybe there is a difference irl...
Hello, I’ve purchased a stunning PSR-SX600 which IS EXCELLENT in my humble opinion. The only slight drawback gripe I have is the screen could have been an inch or two larger but it’s manageable and good colour. Regards the Rec & Share app, is it still better to run the iPhone/iPad through an audio interface? I’ve got an A I.
Another good review, what I do not understand is why Yamaha do not publish a list of compatable keyboards for the app you mention,.I have searched for it but can not find the information. What is the use of saying works with compatable instruments without providing some sort of list.
Desember 2017, I bought psr s670 rp7.900.000 Indonesian rupiah. So i believe sx600 will be cost about rp 9.000.000 rupiah Indonesia. In my country, many keyboard player choose pitch bend and modulation than joystick. So i think it Will be great especially in indonesia
I have yamaha sx 600, korg pa 300 and casio ctx 5000. The yamaha is by far the best although the others are good too. Only drawback is the speakers. You need good headphones or studio monitor.
I've got the Casio CTX 5000. It's a fine keyboard for home use but it's not quite a professional keyboard--in my opinion. I'll be replacing that shortly with the Yamaha PSR SX600
Hi I bought Yamaha sx900 after watching your video. Its very good keyboard.. But you don't mention this. I am facing one problem when hold key and change (registration) tone like string to piano etc there is very ugly loud sound of string. tone change is not smooth like old model of yamaha psr s750/s950 series. Do you know how to fix this issue? Please help regards
Hi Jeremy, regarding your course... I know how to play chords but I can't play melody with my right hand at the same time so I only play chords with both hands and never use the voices, only the styles. Can your course help me?
Do you know when the S600 will be released and why isn't there any real live Yamaha demos online so far by Martin Harris, etc, etc, ....I only see commercial Yamaha demos?
