After owning the RSV4 for now almost a year, figured I give some insight on if I still enjoy the r3 (300cc) even though I now have a RSV4 (1000cc) Instagram: @yamazed
I've owned a total of 5 bikes. My first one was a Ninja 250, fantastic bike and thats how i learned how to ride. The last one i owned was actually an 2003 Aprilia RSV Mille, and I completely agree that a 1000cc is insane when it comes to speed and cruising. But one of the reasons I actually sold the bike was because it was just gonna get me into trouble. 1000cc comes with a lot of responsibility, and after almost dying 4 times on the bike and getting pulled over twice, I decided to give it up. I've been watching a lot of your videos and my god, you are amazing. I can sense some bias, however I'm completely captivated by some of the things you said, and decided to get an R3. I shit you not, best decisions Ive ever made. Thanks!!!
Fear The Curry, it all depends on the people, I have Grand Cherokee V8 5.7 liter, and never get it past the 120-130 km/h limit, this considering that I live in Mexico where there is literally no speed limit at all, you can drive any speed you want and never get a speed ticket, and this truck has insane power. So, to make long story short: there are two kind of people: 1) Those who have the power but use it only when needed. 2) Those who are powerless in their life (basically lacking control of it) and are trying to fill that gap on the bike or car.
Man, I own an R3 exactly like yours, 2015 black, so beautiful! Impossible not to fall in love with it! I bought it 1 month ago, my second bike (first was 125cc) and still learning a lot, but anxious to get a 600cc 😐. However, I won’t get such until I can handle a 300cc like a Boss.
I wonder if the RSV4 is "easier on the highway" or is it "easier on the highway"? Never stated. Personally, I've gone full-circle, from the Ninja 250 up to a Katana, CBR600RR, V4 Interceptor and Superhawk VTR996, then back down to a Ninja 400, and now, the R3. Handling. Handling is the key.
I just recently found your channel after buying an R3. It's awesome to see such a fast forward to this video. Thanks for making this content, keep up the good work.
Ninja 400 has same highway rpm at 60 mph as the 300. Just got back from a 2 1/2 hr highway trip on the r3. Did it like a champ and could’ve kept going. This is coming from someone with a herniated disc, & sciatica. Throw on the brace and can ride the r3 all day.
do you feel like you need the 1000? Is 600 enough for anything city, track, twisties, etc... I've been riding my R3 for 3 years now and I'm thinking of upgrading. I would love to know your thoughts.
Hey, not the OP but 600cc supersport are definetly enough. Even in the twisty I could keep up with the 1000cc. But it really depends you know, following a veteran rider on a 1000cc bike riding aggresively, you will get left behind no doubt.
Get a test ride. I think 750 is a nice sweet spot. I started on a 600, then a 400 supermoto, and now a 1000. 600 was fun and confidence inspiring, I just happened to hunt for 7th gear too often. 400SM is the most fun I've had on 2 wheels other than it sucking on the freeway. 1000 power is just nutty, worst part being trying to control it around town because it requires a lot of finessing the throttle because it's so sensitive to inputs. On a 600/750, you have a safety zone under 6k revs which is great for city use. You don't get that with a 1000, it has torque all throughout the rev range, even when you don't want it like when doing a slow speed turn. If my dealership had allowed a test ride, I doubt I would have bought the 1000. You'll probably like it a lot if you just want to be lazy on the freeway or go stupid fast on trackdays though.
The only think a 600cc won't do is low rpm on the highway. My cbr 600 sits around 6.5 grand on the highway in 6th. That kinda makes me want a liter bike for longer rides
I have gone from an r3 to a new BMW s1000rr. I will probably never own a supercar so I went for the superbike. Just knowing you could race almost anything and win is exhilarating. Or you can pot around town. You get the full spectrum. 600 you will be fast enough but never the fastest. If that makes sense.
CBR650R Obviously. There's no point in getting another 300cc bike. Plus that Honda is Fast AF. It's already "Too Much Power" for Public Roads. Although it will cost almost double of the R3 but you're getting double the CCs & performance.
All of the things you said you weren't crazy about the rsv4 would be same on an r1. Since you're short try a gsxr 600 or 750 maybe? Or one of the naked bikes?
Trade in the RSV4 for dans H2. Lol yeah there's ups and downs for both bikesi agree. Thanks for the vid man and as larry said "always stay hydrated". Lol
that sucks youre selling your rsv4, since it was your 'dream bike' and you are thinking of selling it.... i say it because the rsv4 is also my dream bike.
Yes but sadly, they were not sold in the U.S. since all our market has been focused on "bigger is better... 'MURICA!" Otherwise I think the whole outlook on smaller displacement motorcycles would be completely different. For 20 something years the best we had in the small cc class was the ugly little ninja 250 😭😭😭
