I own two R7, one blue and the other black. I had quick shifters install on both bikes at the dealer, an couldn't get them to work. Thanks for showing the last step at the end, holding the shifter up for 10 secs. The QS symbol now shows on my display, seems that the shop missed a step. Great Video!!!
@@alexv5581 Man I tried responding to your comment twice before, but RU-vid deleted it, maybe having more than one R7 violates their policy. 😂 But seriously, in response to your comment. I actually now have all three, the 60TH Anniversary I picked up this week. I gave the blue to my son for his 21st birthday, and the black I'm giving to my brother who just got out of the Army. As for the 60TH, well that one I'm keeping for me.
@@bronsonsohan7045 oh I see , that's really nice of you to give those bikes to your family members. The 60th edition of R family is drop dead gorgeous 👍 Can't imagine how it looks in person.
I know I’m late on this but I just installed this quick shifter on my 23’ R7 and I followed your video. You made the install super easy and quick so thank you for this 🙌🏼 I love the QS it makes the bike so fun when you’re rippin it!
"If you're not gett'n it, don't use it..." Makes sense... I'd have thought the quick shifter was only for when you wanna get on it. It makes no sense to use it when you're puttering around town doing the groceries... :D Nice vid as usual mate!
Gosh man, I expected you to have a lot more subscribers. Great content as always. Keep it up and I’m sure you will eventually reach that 1 million mark.
You seemed impressed with the proformance with the throttle up and not with the Rev range. Cool ! I just got my quick shift for my R-7 . Looking forward to the install. Thanks for your instruction on the qs . I appreciate it . Ride safe . Phil
New Subscriber form the Philippines🇵🇭. Love your Videos Sir. It inspires me to finish my studies so maybe in the future I could own an R7 just like you did and do everything Ro it. Looking forward for your futre videos👍😁
Nice , Dano's performance offers his quick shifter (plugs into oem harness) and a reflash for $350.00. I'am sure reflash be alot cheaper. He really does a good job.
Short shifting is generally a term that describes shifting in quick succession at low RPM before reaching max power. Even Google agrees lol. In 11 years of riding I’ve never heard clutchless shifting described as short shifting; everybody I’ve know has always called it clutchless shifting or power shifting.
What’s up bro, I don’t know yet. I’m thinking of getting a review out next, there still not a lot to chose for the R7 yet, but I’m leaning towards some levers and an intake
@@ScoutsOut Aloha, sweet yeah those mods for sure do they make rear sets yet? What’s the battery, a acid filled 10 lbs or a light weight new type what are they now lithium? 10 years ago we would change the battery and drop like 10 lbs weight or something crazy like that just changing the battery but they were expensive. 🤙🏼
Make 100% sure your using the correct sized hex key, no ball head and push in and you turn. You could also try and head up the bolt, or spray some pb blaster on the tread side and let it sit for a while
Hey man just installed the quick shifter thanks a lot for your help! I got a question for you though, do you know what size those little nylon push rivets that hold some plastics are? I want to order some more as they seem to be fairly fragile. Thanks again
right on, glad it worked out. I ordered this kit amzn.to/3sb7rbN but only the small ones fit, im outa town right now but when I get back I can see what size they are if you don't want a big kit. I work on lots of vehicles so I don't mind having the extras
For whatever reason, my QS light won’t come on. I’ve tried downshifting to first and to Nuetral, didn’t work, I timed how long I held it in the up position in 2nd gear and hit it exactly at 10 seconds and also above 10s and downshifted and nothings working 😢
Hahaha yes, and scratch my comment, I got off the bike and used my hand to shift for better sensitivity and it seems I was not holding the shift lever high enough with enough force. So now my QS light is on. Lol
Seems I’ve broken my bike though, took it out for a test ride, worked pretty good, hit neutral once or twice bike accident but only thing that happened was the rpm’s climbed, but now as I was riding home the bike won’t shift down, it’s stuck in 5th and if I try to shift down even with the clutch pulled it’s like it’s bottomed out 🤯🫣
Hey mate, are those techspec tank grip specific to the r7, or did you get them from a different model and had it cut ? Cause I can't find the r7 ones online . Thanks
They are for the R7, looks like motovation has them in stock www.motovationusa.com/snake-skin-tank-grip-pads-by-techspec-yamaha-r7-62-4026-SS?mmyId=174123&mmy=Yamaha-YZF-R7-2022&gclid=CjwKCAiAl-6PBhBCEiwAc2GOVE4Okqa-EPrSanwumro6wfW3Oa_cRBE-SGRVX-DuJJmRA_JTdIM0aRoCZDMQAvD_BwE
Hey, thanks for the video, So I've ordered my R7 and asked my dealer to install the quick shifter to it... however I'm not quite sure how to use it. Do I need to engage it and have the QS symbol show up on the dash everytime I want to use it? And do I need to disengage it after I'm done? Or is that QS symbol on the dash permanent? Thanks
Congrats on the new bike, once it’s installed the mechanic should have enabled it. You can tell by the QS on the dashboard if he did. Once the QS is enabled you don’t need to ever turn it on or off it should remain on forever. I thing changes for how the bike rides, you can still use the clutch like normal or don’t use the clutch if you want to quick shift
Personally i think quickshifters are fine mechanically, but for new riders, they are a terrible habit to start relying on. You wont learn how to properly operate your bike if you have a device doing it for you. It’s a matter of principle for me. It’s the same reason people get compliant, lax, and forgetful when they start learning to ride with abs, and then switch to a bike that doesn’t have it.
Did anyone have and issue after installing the quick shifter, with the Abs light turning on and off once riding ? It started happening after my quick shifter install
@@ScoutsOut only comes on when I turn the bike on. Didn’t do it before so I got concerned. Turns right off once it starts rolling. So if that’s normal then I guess there is no need to worry! Thanks for letting me know that info.
@@anthonysousa8470 no need to worry that is very normal and a good thing its like the check engine light turning on when you first turn on your car. it's the system checking to make sure things are working
i installed mine to but it feels it jerks on low speed especially , is that normal? and does the cm have to be precise? if it was a 1 cm shorter whould that effect it ? thank you
It is very clunky at low speed, as for adjustment yes you can move it around a little. The best way to set it up is at 90* s at each pivot point, hope this helps
So once you install the quick shifter can you still normally shift the bike is there a switch or something you toggle to in order to engage the quick shifter ?
Yes nothing changes really other than you don’t need to use the clutch but you can use the bike normally too with the clutch and just forget it’s installed if you want
Getting my r7 in 30 days. Coming from r3. I never touched suspension on bike but want it adjusted to me. Is this extra mod or can I tell the dealer when they build it
Sorta, the r7 is drive by actual wire which requires a mechanism to move the throttle body. It’s really expensive but you can turn it into a drive by wire system for about $2500 which I don’t think is worth it, hope this answers your question
