A tip, both the float needle seat and the main sprayer come out of the carburetor body, the needle seat just pull it with pliers and the sprayer just hit it where it fixes the gicle, it comes out and manages to make a complete cleaning.

You are very lucky not to be in Brazil Pete, here our gasoline comes with a mixture of 27% alcohol (or ethanol) if the bike is stopped for 6 months, the alcohol corrodes everything. Fatally you will have to change the carburetor, or the repair kit. I was impressed with the quality of the gasoline there, only in the shower, all the dirt came out and the carbs were like new. Here I use decarbonizing to clean it well, sometimes I have to remove the sphere that covers the air passage to the main jet sprayer, as it ends up clogged by the alcohol vapors.

I am also restoring a 1987 RD350LC, this was the 1st Rd I had in 1995, I ended up locating it and bought it again, now it is "last owner" hahaha. Here in Brazil Yamaha put its code of 1YH, but it's the same 1UA there.

@@lucianolopesdapaixao3990 Yes I remember about Yamaha making them in Brazil, the very last batch, I think they had twin head lights and different colour scheme. I think you have quite a rare and unique bike. As they were not for sale else where. As for the petrol/gasoline, I heard it also eats the tanks if left as it attracts water. I see alot about the issue in Europe/UK. Lucky for us we can still get 95 98 (octane) with out ethanol, but how long this will last. I think in the near future even finding fuel will be hard as the big switch to electric vehicles becomes more dominant. www.rd350lc.net/pageAllRD350R.htm (You probably know this site very well)

Bit of a waste of time without taking out and cleaning the emulsion tubes, they have small holes in the sides, judging by the state of the carbs you could assume they'd be clogged too

Yeah I think I will strip them down again when I'm putting it back as the float bowel valve are temperamental. Use a float valve kit from webmoto. I just wanted to see if it would start up ok first.

How about the power jet they got to be clogged also. They are in the tube going into float bowl that is connected with hose between top and bottom of carb. If you run bike it will be lean since on power jet carb both power jet and main work together.

Yes I'm going to strip them down more when they eventually go back on.

Hi mate. Good series. What size is your ultrasonic cleaner and where from? It looks to work a heap better than the one I had but it broke so I need to upgrade and replace. Cheers

Hi, its from ebay, 10 liters. Just went with the cheapest one they are all the same make by the looks of it. With the carbs I did take off alot of the varnish off with small dremel brush, especially around the float bowls.

Thanks for info regarding those see through windows for throttle adjustment. One thing I noticed that you didnt take out emulsion tube(neetle jet). Usually that one hides lots of gunk and mess up midrange and throttle response

Yes I might do that as I've read alot more on that topic. Some even just replace everything with a kit. Given the float bowels still leaked I may end up doing that.
